  • I heard about this... Apparently this was a mule car that I got to go for a ride in New Years eve 2008-09. I heard some of the guys took the car out back of GM Canada and did this until the tire fell off.... Apprently management was not very happy and either some lost thier jobs or were in deep shit!

    Either way I think it's awesome and great advertisement for a car that's built for it.

  • yea you would think with all the hp they put under the hood of these things (even with the V6) that they would have splurged for the posi, it deffinently would have brought down the 0-60 a bit (which is already imprressive). no worries though, im sure in a year or two there will be a huge after market for these things.

  • Sweet car but i still prefer the challenger. the side profile of the camaro is beautiful but i dont like the front end so much. and the rear end looks like someone rear-ended a corvette. for the most part, the challenger is nicer. the front shows off its vintage influence and is boldly dodge and the rear end looks pretty good too

  • yes even the V6 has 300 HP and the 6 liter V8 has 400 HP. A nice turbo or supercharger will boost the 400 up to about 550 on the street.

  • why the fuck are people comparing SL500, M5, GT2, GTR and ZR1? the camaro competition is challengers, mustang, 370Z, G37, and gen coupes. i know every body wants it to be faster and cheaper but fuck you don't like it watch another video. the people brought back the camaro. GM made the camaro because people wrote to them saying make the camaro. the cobalt SS was its replacement.

  • My personal opinion, so please don' try to argue opinions: The new Camaro is too bulky. As are the new Charger and Challenger. Mustang also bulked up a bit over that last couple of redesigns. Some current American trend or something?

    Also the Camaro looks a lot like the Challenger I think. A lot. Enthusiasts, I'm sot saying its ugly. Just a bit too bulky

  • the reason for the "bulking up" is some stupid pedestrian crash law, where their must be air between the hood and the engine, and also because some people are too fuckin stupid to wear seatbelts the companies are forced to protect them from themselves by making the roofs higher. its a trend all over the world.

  • My Yaris has a 2 foot long hood and weighs 2400 pounds. It still got 4 star frontal and 3 star side crash rating. At 3860 lbs the camaro is a big pig. It needs to be at 3400 lbs, nipping at the 3200 lb corvette's heels, just like it's nipping at the corvette's heels in the power, suspension, tire and transmission departments.

  • ye i can't figure out where all the extra weight is going. i know that they designed the camaro to be SLIGHTLY more livable everyday than the corvette, but i don't think back seats make up for the 600 pounds of extra weight. Im certain chevy does this on purpose (adding as much weight as they can wherever they can) i think they purposely cripple it so that it won't ever compete with the vette because that would be bad for business and theyd never sell another C6.

  • ye but the vette also has some primitive equipment to bring the price down such as leaf springs, so why can't the camaro adopt that same philosophy, lighten up the frame, but at the same time make it a little bit smaller, or sacrifice a bit of ride quality to ensure its lighter. as far as i know another big goal for the camaro and the vette alike is to have performance with decent fuel economy, so why not make it lighter, thatll increase speed, economy, cornering, everything

  • Why do you call the transverse mounted carbon fiber leaf spring that the corvette uses primitive? No other manufacturer has ever used that and the $100k corvette can outcorner any (US legal) production car at any price on the skidpad and can beat any car under $500k around any track as well as beat $million+ cars like the Veyron and Zonda F. Calling the corvette suspension primitive is like calling an F1 engine primitive because it uses the 18th century technology called "internal combustion."

  • because they ARE primitive. im not bashing it, i adore the corvette, its probably my 3rd favorite car. but its a known downfall of the car. look at how brilliant it is now, the Zr1 is scaring the crap out of ferrari, it even forced mercedes into designing the Black series to compete with it, but think of how much BETTER it could be with a better set of springs. leaf springs are cheap to replace though, which i like very much.

  • im pretty sure its designed to make sure the vette is that LITTLE bit better. its like porsche with the cayman and the 911. if both cars costed the same amount of money the cayman would be a HELL of a lot faster, and as it is now, its almost on par with a 911 carrera S, same with the camaro and the vette the camaro is nearly on par with the 6 for a lot less money, and if they didn't weigh it down it would be better, not better than a Z06 but for sure the C6. its all business stuff.

    Whats similar? The profile, especially the shoulder line above the rear wheels. The side window shapes are identical on both cars, as are the roof lines, front to back. The grills on both cars are wide and straight-ish and have a smaller one right underneath. Both are bulky. Both have throwback styling queues. Look at them in the same color, you'll see. The same? No. But very similar.

  • hmm. seen in both colors you may have something there, but thats the typical shape of ALL muscle cars, even the mustang has that shape. thats the definitive muscle car shape. just like a lot of mid engined cars share a similar shape. ALL suvs have pretty much the same shape, etc.

  • in 1990 honda got 270 from a 3lt without turbo using their fuckin brains by creating vtec, their 6.2 would produce 558 hp even back in 1990. Nobody is cool by creating a big motor to get big horsepower, even a fuckin trackor company can do that. It also shows how stupid you are because america owes over 70 trillion.   • no actually honda has never EVER put 270 stock horsepower into a car that wasn't an NSX. and that wasn't in 1990. 270 from a 3 litre still isn't very impressive. thats about average. that still isn't 100 hp per litre. ferrari right now is making 510 horsepower from a 4.3.
