  • @me88999999 Wouldnt bother with one mate, they are slow and the timing belts are crazy money to get done...

  • Bought one of these nearly new back in 2006, loved the look of it but hated everything else about it, it was basically a great big heavy, SLOW (was beaten easily by a stock Impreza sport 2.0 N/A) and quite badly made, had loads of little niggles with it. It was the 22-24mpg that finally made me trade it in though!

  • so is £90 a single tyre for a 245/30/19 good? :L

  • good man! it gives it some curry dunt he?

  • Oh and X-Power grey, 18in straight rims, sports suspension, climate control a/c, reverse alarm, kenwood header with 6 disc auto changer all factory fitted. And goes like stink. But looks so sexy!

  • Still love this vid.

My MG ZT 190 plus is up for sale. 53 plate. 24k on the clock, still on original tyres! But has body and wheel damage. Oh and rear window broken by a wanna be thief who didnt get any thing due to alarm and i had my stereo head at home.

  • Nice, I presume you've driven the ring before then, going by how you were driving!?

What time did you do it in?

  • Great driving and really nice car. It sounds glorious !!

Do you have a video that shows how it sounds when you drive it in the every day conditions ?

  • Correction, the 190 ZT can't out race an M5 in a straight line, that would be silly.

But check out the Stig in a ZT 190 doing 133.00 secs and an Audi TT 3.2 in 132.8 secs on the top gear track :-)

  • I thought Top Gear only looked at the V8 ZT, the 260?

  • seopher: - they did do the V8 260bhp on Top Gear, but it was about 2 secs slower than the 190 around the Top Gear track.

  • any one got a lick to that video?

  • the V8 was slower round a track?? bollocks!!!

  • The MG ZT 190 did the TG track in 133secs dead. The V8 did it in 135. something.

    Both in the dry.

Don't bollox me, check the TG site out, or email them and weep!

I wouldnt type if it was bollox, i would have said the V8 would be quicker, but the front wheel drive 190 with sports suspension was just too quick around the bends for it.

  • @mgzt190plus So with an extra 70bhp, and a better chassis it was slower??? My 190 was slow compared to even a Subaru 2.0 sport who used regularly keep up with me easily on the work run each morning...

  • @discocreator76 They're not that slow, they just don't feel fast.

They're not so much slower than a 620ti and they are fast. I've very happy with my 190+. It's strength is going corss country at speed. As a grand tourer they work very well. Though the harder sports suspension is much better than the later standard set up!

  • Fantastic! I wish people would believe what these cars can do!

With the Conti M3 tyres as standard and the hard sport suspension option like i have, they are simply BMW M5's for a fraction of the price!

  • Was it the irish chap, in early 5th Gear that said "Two thirds of an M3 for only half the cost.", a performance bargain in anyone's eyes'!

They would have been Michelin Pilot Sport as factory standard at the time, although I now have the M3 Conti Sport rubber all-round.

9:26 x 2 laps and 9:27 x 1, Bridge to Gantry on the same day, not too shabby.

I didn't realise the ZT was so close the to the more powerful TT, just goes to show the good work that went into the ZT chassis and handling!

  • The ZT is only 190Bhp standard, but with a solid frame, the firm suspension, M3 Conti tyres on 18in rims standard for the Plus model, lower gearing and quality build it is an awsome five seater. Oh and quick steer rack! It turns quicker than a hooker spotting a police car!

  • 18" was standard an all the ZTs', the 190 got the "straights" though, all others had the "hairpins", except the late addition to the line of the 120, it got 5 spokes that I didn't personally like. Later on the diesels got "gridspoke" etc with the MY04 facelift...but still 18" on 225/45 profile tyres

  • Yes got carried away then, you are right, is it just me or do the splits look a smaller dia to the straights? And I do like the 5 spokes as well.

Mich Pilots are good, but I heard the car was tested and tweeked for the Conti M3's.

Not tried the Mich's but the M3's are expensive but spot on. Still on the originals with 22K.

  • 22k!, You're not trying hard enough ;)

The Mich's were/are good, no mistake, but that bit more expensive... Even with traction control on for everyday usage, 13k is the most I used to get from a pair of fronts. slightly more considerate now though...mortgage etc!

  • Oh believe me I try, just not so much as I would have done when younger. As you say, mortgage etc.

But I have braked so hard the abs kicks in and gone around corners so hard that the bucket seat really does have to hold me in.

And that is without tyres screeching LOL!

  • Very fast! What mods do you have?

  • At this time there were no mods, completely standard as the day it left Longbridge factory. All I have now is the Xpower exhaust and an open cone intake. I think the CAT is loose now, so I may knock it through for a decat.

  • Hehehe i can hear the Xpower pipes, lovely! Yeah cat's are a pain cause the tune of the standard engine is tuned for cats regardless of cones.

Anyways, great driving ST, it's the only saloon car that makes me glad of the great seats they have! The Conti's really do grip!

  • Fast,driver knows the ring.

  • I heard the previous owner got the ZT round in low 9's - mind you he was being chased by JEROVAS WITNESSES at the time, and the boot was not full of LOOTED NAZI GOLD. (Alledgedly). 3 minutes 5 seconds sounds the nicest :)
