WMD's was a rational for invasion but the reality is the world had been dealing with Saddam for eleven years since the end of Iraq war 1. He was a pain in the worlds ass as well as his peoples ass so Bush took him out. The US did not bomb the fuck out of Iraq as you put it. During the war you could google earth Bagdad over time and see virtually no damage other than a few holes in a few roofs and the images were timely. It was PC correct in that civilians and collateral damage mattered most.
