The blond lead vocalist who performed "Aria" in the "Live At The Acropolis" concert was far more suited to perform this number than is the individual in this video. As well, the other vocalist's performance seemed to be enhanced more by the Acropolis vocalist .  This vocalist just didn't do it justice, and her performance was clearly not up to Yanni's standards. Her timing was off in a number of places, and her feeling for this piece just wasn't there; or appropriate. She dragged it all down.

I don't think the blonde girl has an awful voice it's just the style of soprano doesn't blend well with the black woman's soprano. I think people liked the Acropolis version better because Darlene K's voice blended superbly with the black lady's voice. This was just a bad blend of voices in my opinion.

I'm sorry but I think the Acropolis version with Darlene Koldonhoven (did I spell her name right?) is way better. This girl does have the clear edge in emotions but Yanni's "Aria" is ment to be heard and not so much as watching the singers. closing your eyes (or the monitor) and listening to both versions you can tell the diffrence. Anyway, it's subjective and both ARE good no matter which way you look at it :)

Aria is not the name of the song, is a decription of a portion of a larger piece of work. Lakme is the opera that contains this song. Yanni has nothing to do with this song other than a possible arrangement. The song was composed in 1881-82 by Leo Delibes and it is opera!! My favorite truly Yanni's son is Felitsia dedicated to his mother. He has good music but this one is not his.
