I was at that game... Nichol shouldnt have been suspended for 9 weeks! he was cross checked in the back... thats asking for a fist to the face... anyway, preds didnt do so good but the game after that, they won 7-0...
Dude, you're a fucking retard. The play is all over YouTube, it was nowhere near a cross check, especially in the back. Spacek was to the inside, so how the fuck would he cross check him in the back? God you're a retard.
The product today sucks !!! Player can't touch each other without getting a penalty. Which has nearly taken body checking out of the game and don't get me started about the lack of fighting. Look at the box scores just about every game each team has 7 or more power plays per game. That's not hockey seeing which team has the better power play.
Look at the attendance around the league on Saturday night the Islanders drew 11,797 , the Blues drew 12,513. Don't even get me started on TV ratings. I honestly don't know how he has keep his job as long as he has.
Spacek made the mistake of not being seriously hurt after that punch. If he was knocked out and thus kept off the ice for a while, nichol would've gotten at least 20 games.
I don't want to sound like I am complaining, but the Sabres have been shafted on two really dirty hits, and I believe that both Nichol and Ovechkin could've received a lot more severe fines and suspensions...both "hits" reminded me of the infamous Bertuzzi/Moore incident.
that cheap shot on Spacek was terribe. He should get way more than a 9 game suspension, imo. 24 games at least, if not the rest of the year. the NHL needs to crack down on those kind of incidents from happening, they should have zero tolerance.
goldash is right, Nashville has gotten its last 5 victories on games where they were outplayed against mediocre teams like st louis...you cant do that against buffalo they will eat you alive
yea i completely agree with blackdog. mason has definitely done his part while vokoun has been gone, but the sabres just did a really good job last night.
Chris Mason has done an impressive job. Dont let one game get you down. Yes, Nashville needs Vokoun back, but the team has not suffered enormously with the loss of their star goalie. Dont let this game fool you. Nashville just came off a five game win streak, where Mason only let in 1-2 goals a game.
Agreed, blackdog. Vokoun is good but Mason is a VERY close second and is improving. He was incredible against LA Kings last night. Almost superhuman in some saves.
C'mon you tube go with the legendary Jeanerett every time! Funny thing is that the Nashville play-by-play man is the former voice on Buffalo AM radio Pete Weber, did you know?
You can't let up on the Sabres, not even for a second...they'll take advantage right away and won't let go. That's what the Predators did last night, they underestimated the Sabres in the 2nd and 3rd periods and ended up losing by a wide margin. Although in the first period, the teams played each other pretty much even...
Where's Rick Jeanerett? Nothing against these FSN South announcers, but he's a thousand times more enthusiastic.
that was a good game, I was there. Nichol's hit was dirty

Everyone was claiming this was a preview to the Stanley Cup Finals? Hahaha. 7-2, it would look like Philly and Buffalo round 1 in '06 all over again.

The game doesn't even seem the same without Jeanerett's commentary.

Agreed, but what does this have to do with the Nichol incident? Even under the old rules, Nichol would have gotten tossed and suspended.
sabrescupin06 5 years ago
I didn't say anything about the Nichol incident. I'm just talking about the horrible job Gary Bettman is doing as commissioner of the NHL.
GoLeafsGo1977 5 years ago
Okay, so what does that have to do with this game?

Nashville needs Tomas Vokuhn back, otherwise they need to invest in another netminder Chris Mason's been unable to hold the fort.
