I have a mazda rx8 and am looking to put a turbo kit on it. Would it be reasonable to say that i would get 290-300whp without any other engine modifications with the greddy kit? I have been doing research on it and it seems like people are only getting like 240-270
you cannot get 290-300 with the greddy kit because the turbo is undersized. It was meant for 6 psi. If you want more, you'll need to get the MazdaManiac GT3071R turbo upgrade, or a different kit. There are no engine modifications needed for the renesis since there is nothing to "upgrade" No matter what apex seals you get, if you detonate, you stand a good chance of damaging them.

the hi power sounds like crap. The borla and the legamax are good sounding. Though if you want 3" all the way the turboxs is a good buy for $500. Just make sure to cut off the tips and lengthen them or you could melt your rear bumper since that exhaust is so resessed.

Most exhausts are bogus. As long as they mate up to the OEM pipes that are 2.5" then your gains aren't going to be much more than the OEM setup. That's why NA cars gain maybe 3 hp with an aftermarket catback. Racing Beat is a great company, but their exhausts are heavy. I would only recommend them if someone wants a SLIGHT bit more sound but otherwise just like stock.

pulleys are still a point of contention. I haven't seen conclusive evidence that it's a solid purchase. The car's AC disables itself in high rpms, so even an AC pulley delete doesn't gain anything.
Incorrect. hp != whp. Remember that car companies rate engine power at the crank. There are drive train losses - usually in the 15-20% range. A stock RX-8 is rated at 230 hp (at the crank), which equates to roughly 180-190 whp (wheel horse power). My car makes 100 more whp than a stock car. And almost double the torque. Rotary cars are torque less only when they are NA. Turbo charge it, or better yet, get a 20B and you'll have torque out the ying yang.
There is only one SC kit available in the US for the RX-8 right now, and the greddy turbo makes more torque and whp than it does. Plus costs half as much.
Nope, but a 1/4 calculator should be able to give you an idea. 2950 lbs, 280 whp, 220 tq. A similar RX-8 with the same kit did 13.1 as his best time and he had 265 whp on his last dyno tune.
His hi power and it's better for higher speeds

you cannot get 290-300 with the greddy kit because the turbo is undersized. It was meant for 6 psi. If you want more, you'll need to get the MazdaManiac GT3071R turbo upgrade, or a different kit. There are no engine modifications needed for the renesis since there is nothing to "upgrade" No matter what apex seals you get, if you detonate, you stand a good chance of damaging them.
