  • This one is repetitive compared to the original version imho. But great nonetheless.

  • I really, REALLY wish I could find the mp3 for this and purchase it. Seriously. The versions I keep finding are not this version.

I specifically want this version because, as I child, I tapped a rendition of Riverdance to this song. So much fun... :-)

  • Freedom's rhythms ...

  • Why is this video (and others) posted numerous times? Please don't get me wrong, I think it is great. What is the point of numerous persons posting the same video?

  • I just love it...what can I say?

  • i always liked this sort of dance... wishes i could do that! Cept i miss the other guy who played as the lead dancer. Oh well....

  • @x979023x

    Colin Dunne? Or Michael Flatley?

  • @DairDubh I think it was Michael Flatley

  • @stewartclan41 well sorry if I got my info wrong

  • Irish culture is so beautiful I don't understand why we are always called drunk Irish people cause not just Irish people get drunk and also it's part of culture a way to calm the nerves after a long day or to celebrate something good that happened my family on my dads side are Irish and I'm happy to be Irish cause of there amazing culture so to all u people out there that say were always drunk look around not just Irish people get drunk

  • @AnimeFreak4eveandeve we celts dont get drunk we just choose to act like we are -.-

  • everybody thumb up to make all add green :)

  • irish dance or river dance or whatever it's called just amazes me every time i watch it.... the way they move, the steps, the way they look, ...it's just awesome

  • Amazing Long Live Ireland!

  • can we find this in hd quality?

  • They are AMAZING! Thank you for sharing this AWESOME performance!

  • 1:35 = ballet training?

Yikes I thought going up on pointe in anything other than pointe shoes is bad for you.

    But still... THEY ARE AMAZING.

  • @SacredDancerBHG tap shoes are also suitably designed for going up on points. They have a little flat surface on the points and the shoe is flexible in the middle :D

  • @SunnyDays94 that is SO cool! :D

  • this is awesome

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the fruits of early childhood arts education.

  • I'd love to be able to do that...

  • greaat

  • i just saw this lastnight ! aah i almost died i got chills <3 <3

  • I wish i was there it looks so awsome.. Cant get no better then that.

  • I got to see this when they came to Cleveland for the last time. I have been wanting to see this since my Music teacher in 4th grade had us watch this. Since then, I been wanting to learn how to do this dance, (Came out with a sprained ankle when I tried on my own ha ha) and wanted to see them. It took years to finally go, but it was so worth it.

  • I'm speechless. God bless them all.

  • Michael wanted control over what he felt he had created and to be fair his interval act in 1994 sparked off the craze so fair play to him but there are many other acts in the show such as the musicians, the singers, the flamenco dancers and the russian dancers which he didnt create from scratch so the producers who refused to give him control had a point too. Lord of the Dance is amazing too though and he's a fantastic dancer and both shows have done so well :)

  • I WAS AT THIS SHOW!

  • I WISH I WAS IRISH!!!

  • One of my favourites from the whole show.

  • Reel Around the Sun = Best Dance Ever!!!!!

  • Recommend seeing live if you ever get the chance. It was awesome!

  • Fuck, this is AMAZING

but the dancers look kinda pissed :S

  • @withoutanyknowledge Well,I imagine they need to concentrate. I've worn those shoes before, and they can be slippery >.< Don't want to fall on stage

  • They all look angry...like they want to kill me or something...

  • @BehindTheProscenium

Ha ha they do, but they also have to have so much concentration on their moves, as you can see everyone is in line, one mishap it might ruined parts of the show, plus, the shoes must be a bit uncomfortable and slippery on stage.

  • Still a great song and video.

  • I'm so sick of people calling the Irish drunk. Yeah, drinking is part of culture (at least for my Irish American family), I'll admit. But we are way much more than that! We have so much art and dance and music, and a rich heritage that goes back over a thousand years. No drunk can dance like that.

  • @RBkidd510 who was calling the Irish drunk on this board?

  • I agree with you, I am only 50 percent Irish, but yet everyone including ones who do not know me, said I will be a drunken Irish when I turn 21 next year. So many people around me only view the Irish as drunks, yet when it comes down to it, Germans drink, so do American (hell I bet almost all America drinks.") But no, they only view Irish as a drunk, and not a beautiful cutler, and their beautiful lands.

  • Having worked on this show and seen it over 645 times, I still love it. I was a technician on it not a dancer! Awesome still to this day

  • riverdance is a good motivator if your watching this video before you leave for a Irish Dance show:)

  • this is so awesome!! it makes me proud to be Irish ^_^

  • @StarWarsFanatic99 well such a show would make wish i was irish

  • Am I the only one.... or did the complete crew smile less than Jean Buttler and the people round her? because I felt so...

and btw...I will ALWAYS love it =)

  • why do i cry every time i hear Irish music??? i'm not Irish.

  • @reallyfullofmyself lol funny shit bro

  • @reallyfullofmyself I'm only a tiny bit Irish, and I adore Irish music - it makes me feel like flying. It can be exciting or heartfelt or even a bit mystical. It sounds like a cheesy tourism campaign, but Ireland doesn't have to be in your blood to be in your soul. :)

  • @princesskyrie doesn't sound cheesy at all...who knows why we feel closeness to some certain culture and customs and music from another place then our own..?..maybe we lived there in a past life...or maybe it is some rememberence in genes from ancestors we don't even know about..in my case it is not that far fetched as i am Viking origin..they had a lot to do with Celts in their times.. Whatever it is, it just "wakes up" some inexplicable longing in me to hear Irish music.

  • @reallyfullofmyself You cry listening to Irish music because there is no IRISH music...

It's music. And this music touch your sensibility and also mine.

    Bravo to riverdance!

  • @reallyfullofmyself

    i feel you !!

beautiful music can lead to tears..

  • @reallyfullofmyself - It has nothing to do with if you're Irish or not. It has to do with what it reminds you of and how it makes you feel.

  • Looks like 41 know nothing about how it's like to listen to music with your heart, not only with your ear...

  • Beautiful! It's an army of feet!!!

  • Riverdance took Irish folk dance and transformed it into something vibrant and sexy, and helped put Ireland back on the map when it won the Eurovision contest and went on to wow the rest of the world. I've seen the show live 4 times and was mesmerized each time. Why would anyone make a generalization that because a dancer is male that he is gay?? Come on, less narrow-minded, chauvinistic remarks and more appreciation for these amazingly talented individuals, male or female, gay or straight.

  • amazin

im a fellow irish dancer so i know how hard this kind of dancing is

  • Comment removed

  • i love how that one girl is en pointe at 1:34

  • I believe this performance is one of the most intense and erotic pieces I have ever seen. I would see this show a dozen more times if I could.

  • i am proud to call myself an irishman

  • This video would have been better with Michael Flattley. I get shiver with in the first couple of seconds of re actual dance

  • I saw this show five times and it left me breathless each time.

  • What happened to Michael Flatley

  • anything involving riverdance or lord of the dance the music always sends shivers down my spine. and i sometimes get emotional for some reason. it a beatuiful piece of music that makes your spirit soar. i would love to see this live. but aint got the money.

  • This is called perfection...

  • jooo..hodně luxusní .-)

  • Why is he dancing like Michel Flatley?

  • i didn't know Adam Carolla starred in riverdance

  • I WANT AN IRISH GIRL FOR MY BIRTHDAY

  • how is this even possible? My feet can't do anything but walk! go Riverdancers!! you are awesome!

  • @sunEsideUP12

not so diffuclt just do a year of 7 soft shoe or hard shoe (i recommend first soft)

then win all the contests :)

    lol

  • @Thejoshualoler101 oh is that all lol. I'll get on that then (;

  • @Jackarunda

its opinions like that, that make it really hard for us to get guys to dance, its not a girl's dance, its for everyone. you don't have to be irish, you don't have to be a girl. . there are a lot of dances that would be better with boys. so don't be dissing the irish dancer boys, they are awesome.

  • @Jackarunda My cousin is an irish dancer. He has a wife. I don't see how he is gay if he has a wife.

  • @xXxNecroDancerxXx Got a point there. Some people are ignorant that way and just plain ol' immature.

  • @Erin92100 Yeah. Some people should just grow up x3

  • @xXxNecroDancerxXx Totally. It really irks me that some people just can't grow up and be open minded. People like that are usually jerks.

  • Ah, this video makes me want to cry. Not in happyness, but in horror. I grew up with the 1996 version from Radio City with Jean Butler and Colin Dunne, and my god something went horribly wrong. The girls are flipping around like theres no tomorrow and the lead, he takes too much after Michael Flatley, who danced for himself and didn't care about anyone else. What happened to this production people??

  • Хуйня

  • "The Sun is our Lord and Father"???

No wonder you Irish have been buggered by History. You are a bunch of bloody pagans.

    Sod the Sun god!!!

  • @IanWaters42 omg, it was a american who made the play! And them same man who wrote the text to it! have your own opinion at keep for yourself.

  • @legofreak1231

I will say WHAT I want and WHEN I want too on an open Public forum...

Until you buy bloody You Tube you may go jump in the Lake.... ; )

  • @legofreak1231 You do thatm you are infact stupid enough to do it :b

  • BAAH, bunch of sunworshippers.

    but them girls are niice.

  • I'm surprised that christians haven't spammed the comment box about pagan rituals and the "evils" of sun worship.

  • I went and seen these guys before they stopped touring in America last year. It was so wonderful!

  • The video makes me wish I was sitting front row center rather than watching this stupid broken video.

  • Riverdance muss man live gesehen haben!

  • awe-inspiring! mesmerizing music hammering open one’s ego with every tap of their feet. Immortal contribution from the Irish spirit & should be passed down from generation to generation. Though much criticized, this troupe deserves to be ranked with the legendary 1994-96 Riverdance performers led by Flatley & Dunne. actually prefer de Gallaí's upper body movements – forceful swings like Spanish bullfighters & Chinese martial artists. its music also played by 12Girls using oriental instruments.

  • look at the background that's not supposed to be the sun . its symbolizes a pyramid with the all seeing eye of horus on top and if you watch from 4.10 you will see how the masonic symbol is formed the artists have no idea its very sad the music /hollywood industry is riddled with occult followers . think i'm mad do some digging you will open a can of worms . watch the industry exposed.

  • @heidisweep

Yeah. You're pretty mad. In fact, I'm pretty sure you're out of your blasted mind.

That's not a pyramid. That's not the "all seeing eye" of horus or any other such rubbish. It's the sun. And the sun's rays. It's symbolic of the dawn of the earth. But no, its not "masonic." I was in this show, I should know. It didn't come from Hollywood or America. It's simply a rememberance of our history.

Try to use your brain before you open your stupid trap.

  • @reel irish boy 5 wake up and educate your self a bit before you call people idiots . you are a product of the nwo education system ,in other words you have been deliberately dumbed down combine this with your young age its clear you are as blind as can be ,sound asleep just how they want you ! wake up ! research the new world order . do you think your country is on its knees begging for help by accident its all by design .

  • voll die spasten, alle auf teilchen :D haha

  • OMG!! I just saw my dance choreographer!!!!!

  • Best dance of the show!!!!!

  • I love how dramatic this dance is especially 0:16 - 0:34 and then 0:46 - 0:52 !!!!

  • Amazing; these people have talent & the choreography is really something.

  • they are machines!!!!!

  • @iamnotamuffin You have one count to get your arms up. An I.D. can't stop to think about it you just do it. It looks fast but with a little practice it's second nature

  • Why oh why does the lead dancer remind me of Ben Stiller xD

  • it's just incredible

  • Saw them live yesterday!!

  • Irish Soldiers in disguise!

  • нифига се координация

  • 999,343 people have seen this... I want it to be an even 1,000,000

  • Aye it's an historic moment... at 2:49 one of them finally learns the use of his hands. :)

  • @ nandokan22 : Michael Flatley was one of the inventor of riverdance! Almost 2 years he danced together with Jean Butler (for me she is the best riverdance performer) in the riverdance shows. Due to artistic differences he quited and established the Lord of the dance show.

  • @iamnotamuffin Practice lots and lots of practice of being at the exact same spot to catch their "partners" hand.

  • watching them tap dance has the same effect as listening to a beautiful love song that only ascends you to greater heights. Beautiful

  • Click click click click click click click click clickedy clickedy click-click-click!

  • @3rosesred um no the internet came around during ww1 or ww2 cant remember which but the internet was created to share infornation with out the eneimy getting a hold of it of something all i know is that it has nothing to do with the space program

  • where is Michael Flatley???? :--( , He is the only one! the best one!

  • @nandokan22 I believe that Michael Flatley was actually in Lord of the Dance, not Riverdance. Sorry.

  • @wolffriendinus You would be wrong - Sorry - Michael Flatley was originally in Riverdance before his feet (and his ego) grew too big for his shoes and he then left and formed Lord of the Dance

  • @boywonder001aus

Not only because of that, there was a financial problem where Michael Flatley did not accept. Luckily came then Colin Dunne, what you wrote I accept 100%!

  • @celticspirits5 It was not actually about finance. Michael had done most of the choreography, and wanted to keep some control over the dances and steps he had created. This was not acceptable to the management and he was fired. He then created Lord of the Dance.

  • @celticspirits5 Colin Dunne's always been my favourite lead:)

  • @boywonder001aus sorry but michael flatley had a reason to have a big ego he was brilliant!

  • @boywonder001aus actually he left because he had different ideas than the producers of the show.

  • @boywonder001aus Where is your head? Take a wrong turn and go up your ass? Riverdance was stolen from Michael Flatley. He was the orriginal owner of this obviously and then had it stolen from him. Thats why he went and formed Lord of the Dance and Feet of Flames.

  • @behindthemyth

Wow, you really have no idea what you're talking about do you? If anyone, Riverdance belonged to Moya Doherty and Bill Whelan. After all, Moya paid for it, she hired Michael in the first place. And Bill wrote the music. Flatley was the first lead and he was the choreographer. He did not and never had creative control of the show. But when he wanted just that, the true owners put their foot down and he left. Get your facts right before you display your stupidity.

  • @reelirishboy5 Bahah, moded. Nice!

  • Zakochana bezgranicznie....

  • @araxela89 w kim?

  • @bartekqsmierzak nie w kim lecz w czym... W tym wypadku - w tym tańcu :)

  • @3rosesred Wow, you're quite the little racist, aren't you?

  • they look better in consert and i'll know

  • @3rosesred Of course the Irish aren't purely Irish, if the condition is that they have to be direct descendants from the Gaels. In that case, I can't think of many countries that are actually 'pure'. Take the US, which is a mix of Native American, English, French, German, Irish, Scottish, Dutch, Spanish, African and many other immigrant groups. Even the Vikings had a settlement in America! Does that mean an American can't be considered a pure American, unless he's Native American? Of course not.

  • im not steve ireland, ask him

  • Takes a whole new meaning to she got pissed and put her foot down 0:48-0:56 and before that... love the backside ladies

  • Brillient opening dance. Love it :D

  • Who said there is no such thing as poetry in motion has never watched this;stunning

  • Superbes Danseuses et Danseurs un tres beau spectacle!!

  • i hate americans trying to be irish

  • @Bullockman99 of course you don't realize that they may be irish from their forebears who came to america to escape the famine, right??

  • @histre101 yes i know nut if my great great granda was american i wouldnt classify myself as american if you get my drift. its not that i get annoyed when peolple say they have irish heritage, but for example my sister went to america for a year and some one said they were irish my sister goes waht part and they said oh well my graet great great granny is irish. doesnt mean your irish

  • @Bullockman99 we all do mate

  • Wow, it must take some serious coordination and energy to even be able to do just this song. If only I had that kind of energy.

  • This music is Heavenly and the dance is beyond awesome.

  • Ireland!! Saw this show as a kid and still love it.

  • Never feel prouder to be of Irish decent than when sitting in the audience of Riverdance or Celtic Woman!!

  • I saw this exact show in Geneva :)

  • @iamnotamuffin LOL. You're right. o.o

  • im doing a river dance to this song!

  • It's a great video - just a pity the video is so out of sync with the sound.

  • @SarkyRevenger Its not....I've seen this show live....its exactly as it is here.

  • love this!

  • At 1:36 -- that girl is on point. I didn't know you could do that in this tradition -- has she got a special shoe for that, or is the end just padded inside?

  • @manthasagittarius Looks like they're just normal hard shoes - hard shoe does use some pointe work (ends of toes are usually filed flat) though as far as I know soft shoe doesn't.
