It doesn't matter what race she is. Her technique takes too long. Once she showed it, she should have sped it up to show fluency. It probably wouldn't have looked so awkward. She kept looking to the side like she was taking a cue from someone or she was just watching herself on video. Even for beginners, this is really not a good technique. I watched and learned. I started braiding my own hair. Hair braided too tight by anyone isn't good.

If she had to actually braid a whole head she would be there all day. She look like she was struggling with the mannequin head. She would have been cussed out if that was someone's head for real. All you hear is her hand banging against the mannequin head. LOL!!! God forbid she does any type of braid styling besides going straight back. She yanked the hell out of that mannequin head. LOL!!! This was more entertaining than educational. Go back to Beauty School and learn the technique better.

I'm agree with the last comment. I am black and I can't cornrow. Hence, watching the vid. Don't discount her just because she may not look like you. It's stupid to think like that. It looked like a cornrow to me. She had to keep her hands at akward positions in order to better demonstrate the braid people. Geez, chill out, the world is not all black and white.

@cokacola123 not to be unjust, but you are right lol. For beginners, it may be better to braid away from the head to see what you are doing and to grab hair, but its way too slow, and braiding supercoily hair like that wouldnt last as long as other methods. Cornrow raiding should be a flow, when one end of the braid is grabbed, new hair should automatically be grabbed with it to keep it moving, but its ok, prefecting this skill takes time.

The hardest part of braiding hair is the technique one uses. The way she started cornrowing is one way & also starting from all the way to the head is a good start as well. As you're braiding it just depends how tight you're pulling because thats what determines how tight the braid will be. I do all types of braids, thread hair wraps, and extensions. its all fun :) i'm glad to see not just only black girls braid but all of us who are white, hispanic, asian, etc. :)

you have to start close to the scalp you shouldnt start it the way that she did.

watch some of the other videos listed. you dont have to to have the same texture the technique is the only thing that matters.

....you shouldn't start at the top of the head, start at the ear... for someone who knows how to cornrow.. the braids dont look tight at all... shouldn't be bunched.

i think she just started it there for purpose of demonstration so that you could see the technique. I think it was a good demonstration just to be able to see how the hairs are woven but she was close to the scalp or anything sot he cornrow is gonna have some splits in the base. little parts where you can see how she grabbed the sections.
