Hey thanks for this vid, tired of warhammer and shooting for IG in a few days, can you please tell me all of the turrent mounted weapons a chimera can field and the point cost as a bare model? thanks and i subbed.
@hatstalker LOL people still watch this. But srsly. Just put vets in them with 3 special weapons. use the 5 fire points and hopefully let them survive longer.
good strat, but however you should seperate your tanks 2 inches from one another. you'll be much less vulnerable to blast templates AND you'll still get the benefit from side armor
i know a crule tactic if your playing against ork. have a vetren squad with1 heavy flamer and 2 flamers and shotguns in a chimera with a multie laser and heavy flamer.
It's a good way to show a wound removed.. but really for gameplay it's personal preference. Having both glued to the base makes them easier to place on uneven terrain. Having them separate makes for boosting infantry squads with riflemen easy when you aren't using a lot of heavy weapons.
I watched this video and then tryed it out. I have found out that its very effective against orks. Once the ork mob gets close the hell hound just owns em. then dump your troops and tankshock em. leave the rest to the veterans. :p
I have two chims that i move together. I put one in front sideways and pop smoke with it. The second one pulls up behind it, making a T shape. The one in front has a 4+ cover from the smoke, and the second one is an Obscured Target due to the front chimra.
I can do that twice, with the second tank going in front the second time.
It works moderately well, because 50% of the time the front one dies (4+ is only gonna save ya half the time) lol.
the fact that you turn the lead vehicle sideways makes me cringe a little, you are deliberately exposing the braod side of a barn to the enemy at AV 10. That 4+ save will quickly fail with the amount of cheap firepower the vehicle will take. It can work, thogh. I find its usally better to try to keep the AV12 facing and if you want to do the same thing just rn up a flankso you can obscure the other chimera while showing a smoked AV12.
Thats true. Turning it sideways is just a way to make sure the second chim is obscured by the most number of Lines of Sight. Youre right about turning the av10 side armour towards the enemy being bad though.....
Its tough to do this with only 2 chims. I guess the best solution is to use 3 chims.
Sentinels behind armour sounds a bit aloof to me, I suppose you could use em that way.. but they are scouts, so what about outflanking them. OR Do you mean as armoured sentinels providing anti-tank support? close combat tie-up?
Yes, the exemple is when people mix mechanized vets with "footslogging" platoon(s).
Mech vets are pretty formidable, I go a little light on the mech vet (no more than 3 vet chimeras) in order to keep opponents. rather keep opponents around than piss them off enough not to play.
screening one tank with the smoke from another works good too. kept my chimera's alive long enough to get my troops to an objective. good stuff man. and good looking models too ;]
Remember, if you have the models, chimeras are incredible now with the point cost reduced so drastically from the last Guard dex. Mech is a much bigger part of the 5th edition dynamic now. I still play all infantry now and then (140 to 200 models in 2000pts) but a little mech can go a long way. A lot of mech can make people really angry with you (2 ccs and then all vets all with chimeras w/hvy flamers and meltaguns inside )
biggest flaw in you plan is if a large blast hits one of your tanks the other tanks will get hit

how much money did these 3 tanks cost?

i noticed in the video that the HW team's crew were not glued on the base and were removeable, is that a good modeling / gaming technique?

First. Amazing Paint Job on those, really well done.
I'm relatively new to IG, and am wondering whats the wepon on the "decoy" Chimera? And is it usefull? I Only ever use Heavy Flamers or Multilaser
