  • I started raving at 1:25!!!

  • This is why Hannah Barbara was called GODS!!!

  • Olsen twin powers activate form of a spoiled brat!

  • @fport321 shape of a washed up slut

  • 0:43

Looks like Aquaman is gon' get some!

  • This show had a HUGE influence on me (as a kid growing up in the 70's): To this day, my favorite shows, movies, and music... is all superhero stuff.

I need to go watch a few episodes. ;)

Now I'll have this music stuck in my head all day !!

  • Love this video! Love / grew-up-on the show!

Yes, looking back on it now, it looks quite cheesy. But back then, we kids didn't realize it.

I agree with the people here who have said that today's superheroes seem to be "geared-for-fighting"....and what's great about these Classic Superfriends is they spent a lot of time saving lives of everyday people instead.

Cartoons and video games today seem too much like an exercise in "you beat my ass, I beat your ass, go buy the action figures".

  • always loved these boomerang mashups!

  • Is the broadcast in the beginning from a movie or something?

  • Well done. Simply put well done.

  • The Superfriends are the BEST!!!! It's like Saturday mornings all over again. LOVE IT!!!

  • SuperFriends is AWESOME

I use to watch it on WGN (now WGN America) and SuperStation WTBS (now TBS) and now, I can finally see it on Boomerang

God Bless Hanna-Barbera for a job well done

and BTW, this show was on when all of the Barry & Enright Game Shows were on the air: Break the Bank, The Joker's Wild, The Hollywood Connection, Play the Percentages, Hot Potato, Tic Tac Dough & The awesome BULLSEYE and Richard Dawson was hosting Family Feud and Scarecrow & Mrs. King was on the air as well

  • Wow, this video is a screen, in a screen, in a screen, in a screen.

  • I'm old enough to have seen Super Friends when it was new. I watched the hell out of that show. This song does the show justice with a very upbeat, modern edge to it. Now my kids are old enough to appreciate the show as I did, and still do.

  • 1:26 always makes me sit up straight in my chair, hold my fist aloft in defiance of evil and tyranny, and it brings tears to my eyes. Yeah, I am a dork and DAMN proud of it.

  • @thespiswolf No, you're a GEEK!!! Have some respect for yourself!

  • This is the best remixed theme of all time.

  • Thumbs up if CR brought you here.

  • For some reason I have to watch this frequently.

  • @KBandolo Same here. Same here.

  • Japan, North Africa, Mexico... the world needs super heroes now!

  • they should remake superfriends with this for its theme music

  • "...And blazing flames are pouring from the buildings now. There's cars toppled, buildings...entirely crushed and crumbled. I'm not sure if it's safe to report from my vantage point....I really need to leave! Several defenses informed me that the surrounding areas are-are in ruin. I...I see the people running now! In the...opinion of this reporter, if this nation, or, in fact, the world ever needed heroes, that time is now! That time is now!"

  • @freakintransfan01 Civil defenses, not several defenses... but you were close ^_^

  • @Hanamorichan Ah, okay. It's really hard to listen in while those sirens are going off in the background.

  • Whenever I see this, I tear up. Touches that part of me from when I was a kid. All I ever wanted to be was a superhero.

  • Comment removed

  • 5 people want to hear a Legion Of Doom version to this song.

  • 5 people have no sense of Justice!

  • Now THIS was AWESOME and also, I use to watch Superfriends on WGN (now WGN America) and SuperStation WTBS (now TBS) when I was growing up and also, this show was on when Richard Dawson was hosting Family Feud on abc and this show was on when all of the Barry & Enright Game Shows were still on the air:

  • "Just, fire and... and flames, just flames are pouring from the buildings now, there's cars toppled, buildings, entire, just... crushed and crumbled. I'm not sure if it's safe to report from my vantage point, I -- I really need to leave. Civil defenses inform me that the surrounding areas are, are in ruin. I... I see some people running now. In the.. the opinion of this reporter... if this nation or, in fact, the world ever needed heroes, that time is now... that time is now..."

  • RetroforceGO!

  • The Super Friends will ALWAYS have one of the best theme songs television has ever seen. That's kinda why it sucks that they spent the first 30 seconds for the buildup in this video.

  • @Sirikyuse That buildup MADE this video.

  • @thespiswolf I know, but when you factor in the fact that the video is only 2 minutes long, you realize how disappointingly fast it all ends.

Still, the vid is awesome, buildup and all. I just wish it could've been a little longer, even though it probably spans the length of one whole commercial break.

  • Any one remember "walk water" that enabled trees to move around?

  • Somone needs to sync this with video of 9/11 for the opening news broadcast. Because that would have been the time for them to reveal that they exist.

  • This is so epic it almost makes me cry.

  • AWESOME!

  • A real pity the censorship and writing on the Superfriends was so harsh. It had real potential.

  • Take one thing away from this classic video...Now, more than ever, the whole world needs heroes. Take en example from the Super-friends and in your own small way, however you can...BE ONE!

  • @dandic2342

Untill the bullets get us... :(

Honestly I wish I could do something! But...

  • @GokuMcDuck

    Invulnerability. The only necessary power.

    ...that, and spaghetti vision.

  • best theme song ever. i am comic book guy

  • i think the guy who did the news man was from ww2

  • BP could learn something from Aquaman!

  • @campbellc Everyone's always complaining about Aquaman being useless. So when the BP spill happen, I can imagine him saying "Fuck it, those humans don't appreciate me"

  • Well done.

  • This just might be IMHO the greatest TV show Theme song of all time! I love what Mr. Kohler did with this video.

  • The beginning sorta sounded like the Hindenburg commentary

  • And.....that time is truely now! Truer words have yet been spoken.

  • If this nation, or in fact the world, ever needed heroes, that time is now.

I weep at the truth of this statement.

  • Where can I find the other Justice League songs made by Michael Kohler? There was a site called The Watchtower with them, but I can't find them.

  • the last words before the music started...is how I feel now.

  • @Redpet241

Me too. It is our own governments the one who doesn't let us do anything, or else we will be branded criminals. If the government and the law can't protect the people, then they have failed and the people have every right to rebel, as they are the reason of everything.

  • check out Bluetube.com the song and video is on there...

  • Looks like Aquaman cleans up the BP spill near the end and has some whales push some rocks over the crack. Problem solved.

  • We really need super heroes in the real world. It is all going to hell. This video makes me feel that...

  • DUDE. At 1:30 (or so), Aquaman is using whales to block what looks like an oil leak from the ocean floor. Looks like someone at bp needs to say 'This looks like a job for Aquaman!'

  • One of the shittiest shows to grace television.

One of the most badass cartoon network bumps to grace television.

    I feel so conflicted...

  • Always Loved this From cartoon Network! <3

  • How can you not love this? Honestly it's awesome!

  • Loved it the first time I heard and saw it on Boomerang a couple of years or so ago!

  • I can remember when the "Superfriends" first premiered. The show was an hour long and entailed a morality story with the villains, who almost always turned out to be misunderstood or using unusual means to better humanity (when it was worth saving.) The only other Superheroes to appear were Green Arrow and Plastic Man. Wendy, Marvin, and Wonderdog were the one always getting into trouble so the SF came to save 'em.

  • @thelionwaits I believe there was also one with the Flash from that season. The Green Arrow one was the best of that particular batch of episodes, though

  • Anyone know where I can get an MP3 of this?

  • this track is by Michael Kohler, if anyone's wondering. he also does music for a number of adult swim shows including Aqua Teen Hunger Force

  • The Superfriends REALLY had invisible planes and spaceships?

And had gorillas hold up lifts?

    Jesus.

  • @Lazyguy22 Wonder Woman had an invisible plane throughout most of her history, until DC Comics continuity was rebooted in the 80's in the Crisis storyline. The gorilla is Jana of the Wonder Twins, whose super power was transforming into different animals at will

  • w00t

  • I still get chills hearing this beat. I can just picture all the Super Friends charging their enemies with this song playing in the background. I know I'm dork, but I can't help it, I love this shit.

  • @zoist80 you're not alone....I even tear up sometimes watching and listening to this...it's just too epic

  • @zoist80 Dude! Get in line!!

  • @zoist80 You are not alone in that feeling.

  • @zoist80 I feel the same way. In this version I get a bigger chill with the "If this nation or this world needed heroes that time is now" In this day it has a bigger meaning than before.

  • @zoist80: Nothing dorky about it-this is a song for heroes, and it's amazing even when remixed! It's timless and classic, and I feel that people should stand to attention when it's played!

  • @Neville6000 I beg to differ... it's even better as a remix! Especially that bass solo ^_^

  • Using Aquaman's signal as an accent on the beat is brilliant. Just brilliant.

  • @keeblergraham21 agreed

  • That announcer guy from the Super Friends had the most epic voice.

  • That was the actor Ted Knight. He had a great voice and was a helluva a funny actor. He was in Caddshack starred in the Mary Tylor Moore show and Too Close for Comfort.

  • @Cavillier1970

Thanks for the insight bro. Really got me wondering about him after seeing that Family Guy episode with him.

  • They should use this song on a JL cartoon. Good job on the remix.

  • Can anyone tell me who is doing the WW2 radio broadcast here & where I may find the direct quote?

  • I always hated this version of the show that only had five of them. There was another one that had firestorm and apache chief, black vulcan, cyborg, green lantern, flash, and other guys. Not the new one with Bruce Timm, it was the same era as this superfriends. I loved that show, all the golden era glory depicted here only with actual supervillains instead of thwarting natural disasters and mad scientists all the time. For the record I love the timm/diniverse as well

  • @CalibanFlamingo

I think Firestorm first appeared in 1984, in "Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show".

  • Yeah youre right. But the very best was the Challenge of the Superfriends. Too bad it was only 13 episodes. Was the best till the Justice League came out.

  • Personally this video is a thousand times cooler that anything Batman: The Brave and the Bold has ever shown. Superfriends often imitated never duplicated.

  • This video is just the pure, unadulturated JAM! I never tire of it!

  • I loved this vid, and am pretty excited to hear there may be a live action of the superfriends. Anyway it is funny, if you look at the screen at 1:16 - 1:18 it looks a heck of alot like Dick Grayson on the big monitor...

Thanks for making this great video.

  • where can i download this? The beat is amazing

  • ...and Meg

  • Superfriends had its moments, but Justice League was way better. You old timers should be more accepting of new things. Hasn't Bob Dylan taught you anything.

  • My fave JL episodes were "Clash" with Captain Marvel and "The Return".

I haven't listened to much Bob Dylan (before my time), but I do know that if I want peace, I have to look for it, promote it, and live it.

To me, Justice League was far too violent.

  • See, by mentioning Bob Dylan, I was trying to say that the times are a-changing, and cartoons are too. Sure, Justice League seems "violent" when put next to a show like Superfriends, but that's because SF had practically no hitting. I don't glorify bloodshed, but come on! Superheroes should be expected to use their fists now and then. Besides, Justice League was no more than Golden Age stories or say, Tom & Jerry. Incidentally, what do you think of Batman: The Brave and The Bold?

  • I've never seen Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

I grew up in an era when super heroes didn't use their fists much. About the most violent show I watched was Adam West's "Batman".

I also thought that Tom & Jerry was too violent.

  • You have my sympathy.

  • @blueskunk12: Uh, the comic books are like that, too, dufus. KingoffKentucky was right, I agree with him, and therefore I'm voting his comment back up.

  • @Neville6000

You may disagree with me, but don't names. It makes you seem like a 12 year old.

  • Oh yea it was to campy no fights are killin gee what sad work.....the New inproved Justice League today better more real more fights alot better work

  • That's exactly why old fogies like me remember this fondly.

Because it was an era where the villains weren't really bad, superheroes weren't muscle-bound gods, and we were silly enough to believe that even Aquaman was cool.

    Some of us still do.

  • Personally I blame Watchmen. :D Seriously though, I understand where you're coming from. But with the changing of the world, most young fans now see these heroes as rather pathetic and do-nothing against genuine threats. There's been a call for realism in comics as young people try to find something to connect with; Superman and Batman shaking hands and calling each other "sport" isn't going to cut it anymore. The times, they are a-changin' and if comics hadn't changed along with them, well....

  • That is the saddest thing I ever heard.

  • I come from an era where we didn't have electronic toys. No video games (except for purely mechanical). TV came in two types, black & white, or not at all.

Now kids have games where they're a walking (flying, driving, etc) arsenal of super-weapons at their disposal to obliterate the bad guy.

I know times are a changin'. But in this youtuber's opinion, times are changing for the worse. And we need old-fashioned values. We need superheroes with more heart than muscle.

    That's MY era.

  • Luipaard005

please read '' the Dark Knight Returns or Kingdom Come or rent the Dark Knight immediately.

you'll NEVER look at batman or superman the same way again.

    the Watchmen?,.... please.......

  • The 'change' happened long before Watchmen.

  • @blueskunk12 damn right Aquaman was cool. the redux isn't even Aquaman he is neptune disguised as aquaman.

  • This show was awesome.

and also, this show was on when all of the Barry & Enright Game Shows were on the air: Break the Bank, The Joker's Wild, The Hollywood Connection, Play the Percentages, Tic Tac Dough, Hot Potato and BULLSEYE and Aaron Spelling Shows like Charlie's Angels, S.W.A.T., The Rookies, Starsky & Hutch, Hart to Hart and T.J. Hooker as well as The Dukes of Hazard, Dallas, Knots Landing, The Waltons, Falcon Crest, "CHiPs", Scarecrow & Mrs. King, 3-2-1 Contact and Logan's Run.

  • Great commercial, actually makes this show look watchable.

  • Say whatever but the show's HEART was in the right place!!!

  • I don't know what comment you were responding to but I agree with you. I tried watching Justice League but it was just too serious Imo. The old Superfriends was better.

  • Exactly how I feel. My fave JLU episode was the one with Captain Marvel, where he joins & quits in the same ep, saying "You don't act like heroes anymore".

  • @jmarcguy Damn skippy.

  • You can say what you want about the content of the old Superfriends with their non-violent approach to super-heroics, but their intro and theme is the best.

  • Comment removed

  • Anybody know where I can get an MP3 of this?

  • this beat is hard !!!

  • This is by far one of the best Cartoon Network Music Videos.

  • i would love to see a college band play this

  • *Instantley warped back to childhood*

I used to love this show!

XD How comes the wonder twins don't get their own flashy logo screen at the end? no wonder nobody ever seems to remember them.

  • No, the fact that they're lame and useless is why nobody remembers them. They're better off forgotten.

  • This video can be summed up in two words:

    "FUCK YEAH!"

  • timeless

  • If they ever do a "Super Friends" movie, this better be the theme song.

  • it would be a justice league movie b/c superfriends would sound quote-on-quote "lame", but they should still have this

  • does anyone know where i can get an MP3 of this?????

  • it's actually on limewire, or if you still havent found it, you can leave a message on my channel and I can send it to you........

  • allan is cool

  • I think it was from the audio play of "War of The Worlds", Griffs1969.

  • What is the first part (the reporter) clipped from?

  • WWII during the blitz of London by Germany I believe

  • Superman back then was sooo damn conceited- always havin his hands on his hips..lol

  • this is incredible-never get tired of it.

  • "We'll start searching that area, immediately!"

  • God bless you Michael Kohler

  • 1:30 is my favorite part

  • Is this the original that aired right before the first Justice League on Cartoon Network?

  • If they ever do a superfriends movie, (Not Justice League, Superfriends) this better be the theme song.

  • I like this video....I watch it all the time on cartoon network...only short on there I actually watch

  • Easily one of the great mashups of all time.

M-O-O-N, that spells GOLD Jerry; Laws Yes!

  • you guys are funny

  • Who was that robotic villain that Wonder Woman lassos? He was probably made just for one of the episodes but I'd still like to know.

  • I looked through my old stash and he's "The Monster of Dr. Droid" from the episode of the same name from the All-New Super Friends Hour. As far as I know, neither he or his creator were ever in any comics.

  • It would make a great mp3

  • Amazing! Incredibly creative! Brings back fond memories of Saturday Morning Cartoon.

  • i wish this song was on itunes but its not

  • how did this video become a bash canada platform

  • I think I would have liked the "Super Friends" more if Hanna-Barbera hadn't wussed it up or stuck in their kiddie characters (Wendy and Marvin, and the Wonder Twins). This video shows how cool they really could have been...ah, for what was and what may have been...

  • Yeah, that's one of my gripes with the series, they made Superman, one of the world's greatest heroes & they made him into a 95 lb. weakling who gets gang raped by the Legion Of Doom, What A Bitch!

  • Don't know your Superman history very well do you? : ) Check out the original comics; he used to get beat up by regular people using conventional means.

  • No, I'm talkng about him getting every dude, including Lex Luthor taking their "Misunderstandings" as it were and looking at Superman's Rectum and they all yelled ATTACK! I think that was how the writers for the show treated the Idea of using Superman in each episode & laughing at his expence.

  • Cn sucks today and you know it.

  • No Cartoon Network sucks today. Shut up and stop being an asshole to everyone.

  • Dude shut up. I'm sorry but why did you randomly insult canada in your replies? Do you know me from somewhere? If not then stop repling to me with useless hate.

  • Does anyone know if this track is available as audio only, and where? I can't seem to find an mp3 version on the web.

  • There isn't one (I've tried), but you can download the free Audacity audio software and capture the music pretty easily.

  • All this is is just clips from the show set to music. Why can't I stop watching this?

  • I never knew the actual title of The Super Friends theme.

  • That's not the title of the Superfriends theme. It's the title of this remix of the theme.
