I'm old enough to have seen Super Friends when it was new. I watched the hell out of that show. This song does the show justice with a very upbeat, modern edge to it. Now my kids are old enough to appreciate the show as I did, and still do.
1:26 always makes me sit up straight in my chair, hold my fist aloft in defiance of evil and tyranny, and it brings tears to my eyes. Yeah, I am a dork and DAMN proud of it.
"...And blazing flames are pouring from the buildings now. There's cars toppled, buildings...entirely crushed and crumbled. The Super Friends will ALWAYS have one of the best theme songs television has ever seen. That's kinda why it sucks that they spent the first 30 seconds for the buildup in this video.
@thespiswolf I know, but when you factor in the fact that the video is only 2 minutes long, you realize how disappointingly fast it all ends.
Still, the vid is awesome, buildup and all. I just wish it could've been a little longer, even though it probably spans the length of one whole commercial break.
Somone needs to sync this with video of 9/11 for the opening news broadcast. Because that would have been the time for them to reveal that they exist.
Take one thing away from this classic video...Now, more than ever, the whole world needs heroes. Take en example from the Super-friends and in your own small way, however you can...BE ONE!
@campbellc Everyone's always complaining about Aquaman being useless. So when the BP spill happen, I can imagine him saying "Fuck it, those humans don't appreciate me"
Me too. It is our own governments the one who doesn't let us do anything, or else we will be branded criminals. If the government and the law can't protect the people, then they have failed and the people have every right to rebel, as they are the reason of everything.
DUDE. At 1:30 (or so), Aquaman is using whales to block what looks like an oil leak from the ocean floor. Looks like someone at bp needs to say 'This looks like a job for Aquaman!'
I can remember when the "Superfriends" first premiered. The show was an hour long and entailed a morality story with the villains, who almost always turned out to be misunderstood or using unusual means to better humanity (when it was worth saving.) The only other Superheroes to appear were Green Arrow and Plastic Man. Wendy, Marvin, and Wonderdog were the one always getting into trouble so the SF came to save 'em.
@thelionwaits I believe there was also one with the Flash from that season. The Green Arrow one was the best of that particular batch of episodes, though
@Lazyguy22 Wonder Woman had an invisible plane throughout most of her history, until DC Comics continuity was rebooted in the 80's in the Crisis storyline. The gorilla is Jana of the Wonder Twins, whose super power was transforming into different animals at will
I still get chills hearing this beat. I can just picture all the Super Friends charging their enemies with this song playing in the background. I know I'm dork, but I can't help it, I love this shit.
@zoist80 I feel the same way. In this version I get a bigger chill with the "If this nation or this world needed heroes that time is now" In this day it has a bigger meaning than before.
@zoist80: Nothing dorky about it-this is a song for heroes, and it's amazing even when remixed! It's timless and classic, and I feel that people should stand to attention when it's played!
That was the actor Ted Knight. He had a great voice and was a helluva a funny actor. He was in Caddshack starred in the Mary Tylor Moore show and Too Close for Comfort.
I always hated this version of the show that only had five of them. There was another one that had firestorm and apache chief, black vulcan, cyborg, green lantern, flash, and other guys. Not the new one with Bruce Timm, it was the same era as this superfriends. I loved that show, all the golden era glory depicted here only with actual supervillains instead of thwarting natural disasters and mad scientists all the time. For the record I love the timm/diniverse as well
Yeah youre right. But the very best was the Challenge of the Superfriends. Too bad it was only 13 episodes. Was the best till the Justice League came out.
Personally this video is a thousand times cooler that anything Batman: The Brave and the Bold has ever shown. Superfriends often imitated never duplicated.
I loved this vid, and am pretty excited to hear there may be a live action of the superfriends. Anyway it is funny, if you look at the screen at 1:16 - 1:18 it looks a heck of alot like Dick Grayson on the big monitor...
Superfriends had its moments, but Justice League was way better. You old timers should be more accepting of new things. Hasn't Bob Dylan taught you anything.
See, by mentioning Bob Dylan, I was trying to say that the times are a-changing, and cartoons are too. Sure, Justice League seems "violent" when put next to a show like Superfriends, but that's because SF had practically no hitting. I don't glorify bloodshed, but come on! Superheroes should be expected to use their fists now and then. Besides, Justice League was no more than Golden Age stories or say, Tom & Jerry. Incidentally, what do you think of Batman: The Brave and The Bold?
@blueskunk12: Uh, the comic books are like that, too, dufus. KingoffKentucky was right, I agree with him, and therefore I'm voting his comment back up.
That's exactly why old fogies like me remember this fondly.
Because it was an era where the villains weren't really bad, superheroes weren't muscle-bound gods, and we were silly enough to believe that even Aquaman was cool.
Personally I blame Watchmen. :D Seriously though, I understand where you're coming from. But with the changing of the world, most young fans now see these heroes as rather pathetic and do-nothing against genuine threats. There's been a call for realism in comics as young people try to find something to connect with; Superman and Batman shaking hands and calling each other "sport" isn't going to cut it anymore. The times, they are a-changin' and if comics hadn't changed along with them, well....
I come from an era where we didn't have electronic toys. No video games (except for purely mechanical). TV came in two types, black & white, or not at all.
Now kids have games where they're a walking (flying, driving, etc) arsenal of super-weapons at their disposal to obliterate the bad guy.
I know times are a changin'. But in this youtuber's opinion, times are changing for the worse. And we need old-fashioned values. We need superheroes with more heart than muscle.
and also, this show was on when all of the Barry & Enright Game Shows were on the air: Break the Bank, The Joker's Wild, The Hollywood Connection, Play the Percentages, Tic Tac Dough, Hot Potato and BULLSEYE and Aaron Spelling Shows like Charlie's Angels, S.W.A.T., The Rookies, Starsky & Hutch, Hart to Hart and T.J. Hooker as well as The Dukes of Hazard, Dallas, Knots Landing, The Waltons, Falcon Crest, "CHiPs", Scarecrow & Mrs. King, 3-2-1 Contact and Logan's Run.
I don't know what comment you were responding to but I agree with you. I tried watching Justice League but it was just too serious Imo. The old Superfriends was better.
Exactly how I feel. My fave JLU episode was the one with Captain Marvel, where he joins & quits in the same ep, saying "You don't act like heroes anymore".
You can say what you want about the content of the old Superfriends with their non-violent approach to super-heroics, but their intro and theme is the best.
I looked through my old stash and he's "The Monster of Dr. Droid" from the episode of the same name from the All-New Super Friends Hour. As far as I know, neither he or his creator were ever in any comics.
I think I would have liked the "Super Friends" more if Hanna-Barbera hadn't wussed it up or stuck in their kiddie characters (Wendy and Marvin, and the Wonder Twins). This video shows how cool they really could have been...ah, for what was and what may have been...
Yeah, that's one of my gripes with the series, they made Superman, one of the world's greatest heroes & they made him into a 95 lb. weakling who gets gang raped by the Legion Of Doom, What A Bitch!
Don't know your Superman history very well do you? : ) Check out the original comics; he used to get beat up by regular people using conventional means.
No, I'm talkng about him getting every dude, including Lex Luthor taking their "Misunderstandings" as it were and looking at Superman's Rectum and they all yelled ATTACK! I think that was how the writers for the show treated the Idea of using Superman in each episode & laughing at his expence.
United We Stand! Divided We Fall! Recently watched "In The Valley Of Elah" shows how our troops have/are suffering; overseas, here at home. Last 5 minutes of movie sends a clear message about a country in distress. We should all show our concern! Place a US Flag decal upside down on your vehicles as a sign of distress to make others aware. More people should be aware and take action to ensure the safety of our country, democracy, constitutional rights, and our way of life. That Time Is Now!
Dude shut up. I'm sorry but why did you randomly insult canada in your replies? Do you know me from somewhere? If not then stop repling to me with useless hate.

I don't know what comment you were responding to but I agree with you. I tried watching Justice League but it was just too serious Imo. The old Superfriends was better.
gorn9146 2 years ago 6
Exactly how I feel. My fave JLU episode was the one with Captain Marvel, where he joins & quits in the same ep, saying "You don't act like heroes anymore".

Ok if you read this the nearest friday will be the best day ever.
Love: Your crush wil kiss you secretly
Money: You will find $100,000,000 at 5:00 p.m. on the ground.
Luck: Someone will try to shoot you. You will dodge it and run.
But, if you do not copy and paste to at least 4 other videos, your crush will slap you

You can say what you want about the content of the old Superfriends with their non-violent approach to super-heroics, but their intro and theme is the best.

*Instantley warped back to childhood*
I used to love this show!
XD How comes the wonder twins don't get their own flashy logo screen at the end? no wonder nobody ever seems to remember them.
LogicallyMinded 3 years ago 4
No, the fact that they're lame and useless is why nobody remembers them. They're better off forgotten.

This video can be summed up in two words:
"FUCK YEAH!"

If they ever do a "Super Friends" movie, this better be the theme song.
gorn9146 3 years ago 4
it would be a justice league movie b/c superfriends would sound quote-on-quote "lame", but they should still have this

UnclePotBelly 3 years ago 3

Who was that robotic villain that Wonder Woman lassos? He was probably made just for one of the episodes but I'd still like to know.
Leader1138 3 years ago
I looked through my old stash and he's "The Monster of Dr. Droid" from the episode of the same name from the All-New Super Friends Hour. As far as I know, neither he or his creator were ever in any comics.
ChobinHood 3 years ago
It would make a great mp3

I think I would have liked the "Super Friends" more if Hanna-Barbera hadn't wussed it up or stuck in their kiddie characters (Wendy and Marvin, and the Wonder Twins). This video shows how cool they really could have been...ah, for what was and what may have been...
conagher1880 3 years ago 8
Yeah, that's one of my gripes with the series, they made Superman, one of the world's greatest heroes & they made him into a 95 lb. weakling who gets gang raped by the Legion Of Doom, What A Bitch!
NY4Life 3 years ago 4
Don't know your Superman history very well do you? : ) Check out the original comics; he used to get beat up by regular people using conventional means.
joeshab123 3 years ago 2

There isn't one (I've tried), but you can download the free Audacity audio software and capture the music pretty easily.

All this is is just clips from the show set to music. Why can't I stop watching this?

I never knew the actual title of The Super Friends theme.

That's not the title of the Superfriends theme. It's the title of this remix of the theme.
