That looks like the old Mov'n On truck (or In tandem) that stared Frank Converse and Claude Akins. That was a god show,to bad they never showed any manifests or anything.But heck it was the 70's then and accuracy in Hollywood wasnt the norm.

Hollywood is rarely accurite. they do almost no research on anything. I drive truck, I saw the movie Black Dog when it was in theaters. I was laughing throughout the movie, because it was so silly. to anyone else it is an action film, to a trucker, it's a comedy.

I'm an x-trucker right now because I moved from Canada to the U.K.They were only able to give me what is called an Automatic Car Licence.Unreal,3 million miles under this butt of mine and I have too start again.I will be moving back too Canada this summer and will get back into trucking again,It like that old saying,,Yo can take the man out of the truck,but you can never take the truck out of the man.I absolutely agree with you.

When I was a kid I always wanted too see Britain and that stayed with me.When I met my wife on the internet we got together things worked out and we married here in Canada.Her father took ill and so I had the chance to live there and I took it.Been there now 7 years and have had enough.I am back in Canada for a bit as my father passed away from cancer and will be back soon.We want to retire or move back too Canada when her mom passes.I do miss the trucking,it's been awhile.

what do jake brakes do and how do they work? anyone?

Depends. Some call exhaust brakes jakes too. Jake brakes help slowing down by letting air out of the cylinders immediately after each compression stroke. If air would be left in the cylinder, it would expand, and push the piston down - this is the extra energy the jake discards. The sudden release of the compressed air (done by extra valve, spec. cam, whatever) causes this nice sound.
