  • I hope both of them are landed now in a better place!

  • god damn this cat was one of a kind Ive watched a fuckload of vocal covers since the beginnings of YouTube..and well....there's not a single fucker with the voice of Shannon in viral media.

  • Goes to show what drug addiction can do to a person. I'm sure Shannon had his own ideas of "change" while performing this song but, unfortunately, ended up in the same place Kurt did.

  • its such a shame he is gone..... rip shannon

  • It's just Marvelous !

  • God what a waste of talent, I'm glad so many people remember these guys

  • Probably one of the most honest songs ever written by any artist!

  • what a song, what a moment.

  • Saw them in the beginiing playing at the Mean Fiddler Harlesden London in the 90,s .Their sound was so real anyone there new they were listening to somrthing new and special.Shame he did not make it like The Sparklehorse front man who followed him

  • why are only my views being counted?

  • @trenken honestly if you said something like that in front of me it would be hard for me to contain myself from striking you. Who are you to Judge? You must think awfully highly of yourself but i would imagine you are a very disliked person probably even hated.

  • "They all look at me and say 'hey look at him, I'll never live that way'".

Did you write those words just for me Shannon? Because it really seems like you did.

May you RIP, and thank you for the art that you gifted us during your short time here with us.

  • How the fuck could anybody thumbs down this?

  • i still miss his voice :( the first concert i ever went and this song saved my life more than once...RIP shannon.

  • was so lucky 2c these guys at woodstock 94 and at the sting in ct.

  • man why did u leave us?... we miss..

  • @carrollnewby69 He was a junkie drug addict. Noone to blame but himself.

  • @trenken Good, talented, loving people sometimes make mistakes and get caught up in the wrong stuff. To call someone like Shannon Hoon, who shared so much beauty with us a junkie is laughable. Even at that, inside every "junkie" is a person who can and may just come through it all, and be the next one to share....

  • Same goes for you and your bad attitude then. A comment like that only comes from an unhappy confused person. I don't think you're to blame though. You 're just looking for a reaction from people. I hope you find more constructive ways to alleviate your loneliness, cos this one doesn't work.

  • amazing song and video, i hate when people think that the only song they wrote or made was "the song of the bee" there´s a lot more. And your right he is alive!

  • i just cry

  • happy birthday shannon ......we love you

  • Me and my friend learned how to play this on guitar, and then he died tragically... nothing feels better than to play this song and relate it to friends/music and just passed memories :')

  • Shannon didn't commit suicide, he OD'd. get your shit strate kid

  • the question mark was for Kurt..... kurt was a friend of his.....

  • @ll8520ll

i don't think kurt was really a friend of him but he did really admire kurt and his death affected him very much

  • can anyone tell me-- the dude's playing mandolin, right?

  • @emoly39

    Thought it was a uke?

  • @Sweetxallure no its a mandolin....... ukes have four single string....this had 8 double string i believe.

  • I know we can't all stay here forever.

  • shannon makes me want to believe in heaven. although he is going to be quite annoyed by me wanting him to sing all the time

  • i wanna die soon

  • Don't.

  • alot of people want to die, but that is life. you just stick it out and go on. if not where will you be? Maybe hell?

  • @cremington10 fuckin aye brother im right there with you

  • His voice really shines through on this particular version. Crisp and clean. Gotta love it :-)

  • those of u who spammed that r dumb i know what im talkin about a real melon fan lafayette is where i ride what do u know about that

  • Comment removed

  • the ? on his head is for kurt

  • It's for Kurt but it's also for himself...He looked at Kurt's death and reflected upon himself.

Shannon went sober for a while after Cobain died

  • @deadinsidesince84 hoon was also close with the front man of alice in chains.

and i like to think of bradley nowell as one of the missed.

  • love you 90's

  • RIP Shannon Hoon. 14 Years ago today

  • That's why drugs are bad!

  • @flipowonka

    Mmmkay.

  • in my opinion Kurt Cobain, Randy Rhodes, Cliff Burton and of course Shannon Hoon where the biggest losses music ever had

  • Hendrix? Joplin? Bonham? Bon Scott? Jim Morrison? Elvis Presley?

I agree with all of your list, but music has lost a lot of irreplaceable people.

  • EPIC!

  • goosebumps all the way

  • He was the shit! What a waste.

  • This bands music makes me so happy I wanna cry. I love how Shannon's voice just gets under my skin and helps me feel whole.

  • @StripMyWorldAway i like how you described shannon's voice, it does just get to me....something about it is just...comforting i suppose.

    ,

  • Shannon was so talented. So inspiring as a musician, and also as a person. Easily one of the biggest losses in music. Too much talent that was lost too fast.

  • So talented...such a shame all the good musicians die young.

  • Anyone knows what Shannon said at last? I only understood that he would like to say good bye To Kurt.

I've only heard 7 songs from this band and I can't stop thinking how good they were

  • Probably speaking on behalf of a lot of people, we'd like to say good bye to Kurt Cobain.

  • thank you dude ^^

  • Any time.:)

  • HIPPIE 4 LIFE

    pass it on

  • this got me through rehab....twice

  • this song helped me get over my coke addiction as well, :)

  • atta boy

  • Hearing this version gives me Goosebumps everytime.

Kurt R.I.P, Shannon your lyrics ring true today as it did back in 94, R.I.P as well

  • i like this version=]

  • good stuff

  • I really hope to meet this guy someday!

  • when you dead sucka

    RIP Shannon

  • Someone asked why Shannon has the question mark on his head? Well it's because this was the day Kurt Cobain was found dead in Seattle. The question mark is basically asking just that..Why Kurt?

  • What a voice!!!!

  • Such a nice performance.....this song got me through alot of crappy points in my life...I love how he says, "I don't wanna die" cause he never did.

  • Damn, Nico looks just like him.

  • This is a very ironic and very sad video.

Shannon's voice was just so unique and beautiful. Kurt and Shannon will always be remembered. :)

  • He never stopped dreaming yet he died. I'm coming to see your grave sometime, its not far from my house. Rest in Peace Shannon

  • Shannon changed the Lyrics for Kurt, even thought he diddn't know him.

The Seattle scene was really close.

  • What was Shannon talking about in the beginning?

  • But then again like two people in my school like them so...

  • This is why Blind Melon are my favourite band. I know alot of people say that Nirvana was one of the best bands around And i know Hoon Respected them but tbh most of there songs sound the samebut with Blind Melon Almost all of there songs are different and that is one of the reasons that there my favourite band. BUT if everyone liked them I dont think I would because They would be to commercial

  • I respect your opinion my friend but back log into Nirvana's back library and u will see a huge change in their sound over the years. Oh ya.. If Blind Melon is your favourite band then why would u give a shit if everyone else liked them. That wouldn't make them commercial which blind melon never was..How old are u anyway ? around 12?

  • Close. I'm 14

  • Agreed. Too many people dislike bands that they would normally like just because they are popular and I dont understand that. I do understand however, not liking a band because they sell out and change their music and style to make money and become popular

  • hence why i hate huge metallica bands.....but kinda enjoy punk-pop once in a rare while

  • Of course you like punk-pop once in a while ur an onionhole.

  • Wow....what a great performance. "I'll never live that way - life is hard..you have to change." Can anyone say irony? So sad...

  • this song so helped me overcome my addiction! God bless you Shannon

  • SAd

  • few people have such a gift of singing and musical talent. and its such a shame when we lose those who do.

  • rip Shannon

    you will be missed

  • god rest the troopers. The real deals go way to young... Jim Morrison Hendrix Joplin Cobain Lennon Lane Staley Bonham Sid and Nancy Mr John Cash The list goes on... RIP you top notch musical sloiders... God says "ROCK ON, AND SO IT SHALL BE ROCKED"
  • Please dont forget Randy Rhodes

  • Johnny Cash died only a few years back at quite a respectable age, ans Sid Vicious is no one to be honoured, only the deluded believe that.

  • Whats wrong with Sid Vicious?

  • any other walk of life he would have rightfully been seen as a total scumbag. He most likely was a murderer, but as he played in a 'band' he was aloud to get away with being a dick. he had nothing going for him as a musician. i dont buy anyone saying he was responsible for the sex pistols. he was just a waster in the right place at the right time.

  • the fact that he was a criminal is what helped make sex pistols punk rock. I'm sick of all these privilaged rich kids with tight pants calling themselves punk rock when not one of them has the balls to do anything illeagal and not one of them knows what it means to be down.

  • oh the tears....

  • What a shame, both Shannon and Kurt left this earth way too soon. Both were very talented artists who turned to drugs to numb the pain. We miss you both. R.I.P.

  • They were not the first & they will not be the last (History always repeats its self) But they were the last GREAT ones!)

  • i think shannon was the last legend to make music. to make an impossible possible. Hes very talented. its a shame hes gone so soon.

  • What a great improvision for the moment, Shannon had a gift. I remember watching this live...so touching. Thanks for posting.

  • breaks my heart to have lost him so soon...top 5 songs all time.

  • One great song best of that era! R.I.P. Shannon!

  • Amen to that !!!

  • amazing..

  • shannon por siempre :(,

  • This song has helped me so much in my life.

  • muito foda essa musica

    perfeita

  • Wow... I loved this song to start with. That was a different take on it that I never expected. Shannon Hoon was just awesome. It's a great loss. What else can I say?

  • i fuckin love this performance

  • wwhats up with his hand?

  • tattoo

  • Hellz Bellz, God God God ! ! !

  • Very iconic song.

  • VanlsleBC,what fkn ever..whats that you say you like eating dick dressed up as a bitch!

    go fk urself!

  • i was talking to a kid who said blind melon sucks

  • And??? so what

  • so what the fuck is your problem?

  • i don't kno you tell me?

look dude don't talk to me i couldn't give a rats ass what you think or say Ok!

  • listen fag your the one who started shit so don't give me that crap.

  • oh but sayin that i didnt play up this tune in time so maybe something good came from ur poky comment

after all i have just played up a awesome tune :)

  • good on ya m8, so relevant

  • i dont understand why the classic bands return if the icons or the leader left thsi land someone imagine nirvana witout kurt , alice in chains whitout layne or blind melon whit other singer THE ROCK IS DEAD MAN , LONG LIFE TO ROCK N ROLL GOD BLESSED SHANOON !

  • Rip shannon hoon & kurt cobain, and many more....

  • what a fuckin singer. it's a shame the best pass. R.I.P. Shannon Hoon, Kurt Cobain.

  • I love the idea of the ? on his forehead!!!!

  • lol shannon hoon looks kinda like jeff ament form pearl jam here. this songs pretty cool. r.i.p. kurt.

  • And also R~I~P Shannon Hoon!

  • Of course. he is THE most underrated singer of the 90's.

  • i dont think that, he sang good but not as good to be considered underrated in that.

i think that he and the band were underrated in their musical talent, beacause they were great musical geniuses.

  • he sung well. singing that high is tough work.

  • This is not a very good recording, but the song may be a song we will introduce to our grandchildren. The lyrics are universal and timeless!!!

  • hahaha, Shannon's hat and that question mark, they always make me laugh. Dude's amazing, very much missed.

  • 'everyday you remind me im desperately in need'frm the song mouthful of cavities, the most beautiful blindmelon lyrics ever truly touches any addicted soul,as good as stayley frm AIC when he sings'you cant understand the users mind try with your books and degrees, its us junkies who really appreciates their struggles n music...

  • dam this song is called change and alot of people are still hating each other come on guys lets change we all bleed thru similar veins.

  • sorry about that everyone I should not have used the F word on him I am not homophobic at all it just made me mad when that person insulted me and shannon at the same time when it was clear he was just disillusioned, see you on saturday maybe.. :o)

  • Dude, you have every right to say what you did, the guy was completely and utterly out of line, if you can't respect people during their life or after, there's no point for anyone to respect that person.

  • I was just saying he or she was saying 'your god' as if he or she knew my religious views or if I even believed in relgion I mean I said what I said if there was a god.. no one is ever sure, but what was getting to me is that they said it like whatever my god, that god was not the right god or something. Who cares anyway this video is one of the best on youtube! (In my opinion)

  • If you didn't repect someone alive there is no way in hell you should respect them in death. I didn;t see what the dude said, but it is something that bugs me- that people think that death could change the deceased. Ya know what I mean?

That said: Blind Melon is like my fav and I really dig Shannon Hoon and all of that... Just thought I would point that out.

  • Yep, death doesn't mean that you respect a person that you didn't in life, simply because they're dead.

AftermarketX is just a silly punk who runs around telling everyone he's "Way smarter than j00! kekekeke I haf higher IQ.", and using immature insults like "faggot".

This guy even msged me challenging me to a Nirvana knowledge battle, lol. wtf.

If you have to tell people you're smarter than then before you even start your point, it's a surefire indicator that you are in fact, not. :)

  • I've been writing a book on addiction for the past 4 years and this one pretty much sums it up: "Ah When You Feel Life Ain't Worth Livin'...Oh You Know You Gotta Step Back And Take A Look Around...And Ya Look Up, Way Up To The Sky. And When Your Deepest Thoughts Are Broken, Ya Know Ya Keep On Dreamin' Boy, 'Cause When You Stop Dreamin' Ya Know It's Time To Die." -- Blind Melon: Change

  • I think alot of fans of Blind Melon could add to that not to what you wrote there but our opinions maybe I dunno maybe that is just me

    :(

  • that sentence made no sense

  • so true kurtcobainisgod! :o(

  • I think this was the best preformance of Change of all time!

  • that shows how close that community of 90s seattle bands were, i cant imagine how bad the chain of events was for them, first andrew wood, then kurt cobain, then shannon hoon, then when you think things are finally good again Layne dies. greatest era of music.. and tied with late 60s' to early 70s' for the most tragic. rest in peace.

  • go fuck to another place

  • +1^^ I loved Kurt Cobain's music, and I loved Shannon Hoon's music. Layne Staley was also amazing. But the harsh reality of it all is that they were a bunch of junkies. Your "God" didn't take them. Their own lifestyle choices did.

  • who is MY god??

  • hey faggot I'm 22 and I have a higher iq than you I bet so if you want to try me lets go. muhahah I love it when people like you do this and run with you tale between your legs hidding you little balls in the end!!

  • A sure sign of ignorance is people having to state to you "I'm smarter than you, I have a higher IQ than you, blablabla".

If this was true, you wouldn't need to state it, the fact would be made apparent by the quality of your post/point, dipshit.

  • learn how to fucking spell

  • right on

  • you spelled "hear" wrong on purpose. hmm...not seeing the deep meaning in that?

  • haha

  • ps SirGuttz I am sure you have never done anything worth telling about in your life so before you lable me as 14... try to understand what the fuck you are talking about. also if I just happend not to be born in 1986 I don't think a need a loser like you telling me how to live. Thanks alot!

  • So what if they were junkies?

I have loved junkies... ones who were amazing and creative like the aforementioned people.

Because they were junkies, it doesn't take any of that away.

  • Yeah, I think people forget that dude. I don't really think anyone starts out to be a junkie anyway. You can be mad and not understand how they let it take over their life, but

  • Yeh, you really have to be in their shoes, mindset, and experiences their life to understand that person.

Their will always be 'haters' to everything though.

  • God wanted someone to rock for him so he took Kurt Coabin, God wanted someone to sing for him so he took Shannon Hoon, God wanted someone to moan for him so he took Layne Stayle, God wanted someone to play guitar for him so he took Jimi Hendrix & God wanted someone to act crazy for him so he took Jim Morrison.

  • u missed brad nowell :(

  • and shawn lane the most underated guitarist who met an early death

  • how about, god needed a bro to smoke bud with so he took Brad.

  • yes!

  • it sucks so much that he died. He was / is my fave. they make me feel ways that no other band ever did. this is a great performance.

  • yeah its unbelievable how bad he looks in the last 6 months of his life..crack and heroin addictions....they lead to nowhere but the an early grave...very sad...he was one of my favorites..his voice is amazing.

  • I miss u so much Shannon<3

  • he looks good here compared to the performances in 95..Big surprise! truly amazing.

  • mo one is good as shannon hoon !!!!!!!!!!

  • Shannon is feeling in that moment as we are feeling now without him.

  • Sooo much meaning in this song...Take into consideration, this preformance was dedicated to Kurt Cobain after he took the deadly concoction of Cocaine, diazapan, and vallium."I guess he had to change"

  • Travis?, Do you mean the new lead vocal for Blind Melon?..Well how is he?, Does he even compare to Shannon?

  • Yes the new singer is named Travis, and he did a great job in St. Louis last week. He sounded like Shannon sometimes and Perry Farrell also. I recommend seeing them live they play all of the old stuff it was great ! I was blown away, and after the show the drummer Glen sat at the bar and talked to the fans.

  • saw them back in october.hes a good vocalists, but why snag a shannon sound a like 10 years ago.the band was tight though.

  • I saw that when it aired..is that how you spell aired ? Then just one year later Shannon is gone. Man they were a great band ! I saw them last week with Travis and he did a great job.
