dude, he was well recognised, not for nothing he won 11 filmfare awards for best actor,dadasahebphalke, padmabhushan award, only indian actor to win kentucky colonel award, the only reason why u said this ,i guess , is that u dont belong to that era. yes , but i do agree that he should have let other directors to experiment on him in 80's & 90's.& marketing wise his movies were also dubbed in tamil, telugu & highly successful @par with mgr,ntr.eg:mayura ran for one year in andhrapradesh

Dr.Raj is the most under-recognized actor in India in spite of vast natural talent. Only thing he lacked was the marketability. Marketing has been a generic issue with Kannada film industry any way.

Dr.Rajkumar should have acted in Hindi movies as well. His movies in the late 80's/90's produced under his home banner were just mediocre compared to the likes of Bangarada Manushya, Kasturi Nivasa, etc. He should have allowed the talented directors to exploit much more of his inherent talents.
