I got this game on PSX, it's awesome: awesome musics, awesome graphics (fake 3D!) and good maniability of the ships (there are 3 ships: a balanced, a powerful, and a speedy one)
This game is hard as hell through! (however it's not as hard as DoDonPachi) Hopefully they got a password system in the game. and you keep your collected weapons when entering them (but they are downgraded to level 1 power)
Any shooter fanatic should try this game to try to beat this game!
Wow great. Didn't know, that X2 was going to get a Saturn port. I wonder how they would have managed all those transparency effects. Hehe. It's a mediocre shooter anyway.. so no big loss.
@andersdenkend The game is 2D so no problems with transparencies. The saturn ran into problems with transparent 3D objects due to it being a slow operation whereas the Playstation could achieve transparent 3D via hardware. The Saturn is a 2D powerhouse, whereas the Playstation kicked the Saturn's butt in 3D
@Da1shocker Sure thing, but there are still limitations. The PSX has 3D hardware specifically designed to be used by games programmers. The top-notch programmers, wouldn't just be programmers, but artists: the truth is that if you were to give these guys a Playstation to work with, then they'd have even less limitations when it came to 3D. This is not a dig at the Saturn, its just that the Saturn was designed primarilly for 2D games
The soundtrack was the best thing about the game
