  • Could you do a Tahoe?

  • Sure just go to the youtube main page and type "duramax tahoe" and we have 2 short wheel base SUV's

  • how much to do this.

  • it varies wildly depending on mileage, options, 20-30K depending on what you want to do with it. Typically for this unit 20-22K

  • I hope you guys have a great and prosperous business life..you found a big open gap in GM's truck line up and filled it brilliantly..got to love thinking people!!!

  • do u guys have a regular website or is this just a youtube page

  • Just youtube, We should do a web page but just too busy building SUV's right now. When I come up for air I'll look into it though

  • honestly I don't get the whole Hybrid thing, a few years ago a friend was so happy to have a new civic hybrid that got 40MPG, we looked under the hood at the mass of electronics and inability to fix anything yourself, then we walked over to my little TDI Jetta and opened its hood and all there was is a simple 4cyl turbo diesel, I looked at everyone and said "HUH I only get 50- MPG but I can still fix mine on the road if need be" after-all it is a VW. LOL

  • & those damn electric car factories are 100x worse than a diesel engine factory

  • Do you have any turn key ready that look like this one in stock at the moment?

  • Yes there is one left it is the 2007 Black YukonXL seen on the Dyno, thats the last one for now as we are booking the first 2 weeks of March 2012.

    Eric

  • @DuraBurbinc

Hai how mutch would the swap cost for a duramax diesel brand new 2011 or a used 2011 engine from a crashed truck the suv is a suburban 2500 2010

  • ALL BRAND NEW 2012 LML SUBURBAN 95K and not cost effective, we wouldn't recommend it as you won't get your money back out of it later in life. We do build them as an "A spec" for armor plating but thats totally different. but if you want new we will be glad to build it for you, we are currently booking March 2012 in the shop.

  • Can you guys put a lml in a 2011 suburban. If so i am totaly getting one

  • Yes, do you want to keep the DPF and DEF injection or would you like the emissions deleted?

  • those things are ridiculously huge. very few people actually need them

  • It is a "niche" market and that's why GM doesn't offer it. But for those who pull heavy loads and have a family it's a necessity. I have to admit it's also a lot of fun to pull up next to a Prius at an intersection and watch it crap it's AA rechargeable's all over the ground LOL :) With a healthy tune they can be very intimidating in person.

  • @auaiao9 yeah, but i can move 8 people, all their stuff and tow my 32 foot boat with my 94 deisel burb. It gets 30+mpg unloaded aswell, its invaluable

  • Yep they have their place, the oll' 6.2 and 6.5 burbs like yours got crazy fuel economy. My father-in-law had a 6.2 4x4 Suburban on 34's, could drive it with family nonstop from Fl to DC and still have fuel to bum around on, ain't gona do that in a Prius.

  • @DuraBurbinc AND you dont have to sit around for hours waiting for a battery, that caused more pollution to make than my truck will ever create, to recharge

  • Yea people never think about the COAL being burned to recharge their cars off of. They think that they are "GREEN" but in reality it just isn't the case.

  • Freakin awesome

  • Is it possible to get a P R N D M 1 gear layout on a regular silverado 1500? I really like the sequential up-down shifting

  • Sure if it is the GMT900 (2007-present), the operation it is a function of the BCM, if you have an 07 NBS then you could but it will require the 6L transmission (2008-current) and a GM RPO update,

  • Where do you get information on the conversion, great videos?

  • You can call DuraBurb Sales for turn key SUV's at 407-257-9657 or the DuraBurb Service Dept at 407-497-7031 for as built info.

  • GMT800 SUVs generally cost 15-18K depending on donor mileage and series ie: LBZ, LLY, LB7

  • @DuraBurbinc do you guys bulid them with the new LML motor 397 hp 765 lb-ft

  • Yep

  • @DuraBurbinc that would make one tank of a suburban lmao.

  • Funny you should say that we do build an ""A" spec. for armoring purposes that when its finished it really is a tank.

  • Awesome!

  • How much was the full conversion on the truck?

  • This client spent 19K but he had a very low mileage donor (40K I think) that was about 12500.00

  • @DuraBurbinc Isn't a new duramax $8000?

  • Engine only yes, but to build these SUV's you need everything associated to the diesel running gear and it is cost prohibitive to do piece by piece, ( we priced once and it tabbed up to just over 30K), so for new running gear we just buy a new Dmax PU, swap it back to gas and resell for about a 20K loss.

  • Could you do a new dmax swap with an allisson tranny swap for a 98 silverado? and rough price range?

  • No sorry we only work with 2000 and newer.

  • do you do 02' silverados?

  • SURE

  • Did u have to do a 2 inch body lift or suspension lift . I assume body lift but I'm just checking. This is pretty cool.

  • Yes, DuraBurb is the Duramax SUV Super Store, we build more Dmax SUVS then anyone one the planet "bar none" You must lift the SUV to accommodate the 2" taller Intercooler. How you hide that is based on knowledge and experience, DuraBurb has more experience in this field then any one else "hands down" thus our SUV's appear stock in every way..

  • how much it cost and can it be to the tahoe and increase in mpg's maybe?

  • economy improves by roughly 20-25% but the cost of diesel is 10% greater then standard fuel. That isn't the point or idea of our product, our SUV's have the ability to open a "can-0-whoop-ass" on some poor soul then switch back to mid 20 economy

  • @DuraBurbinc What if somebody wanted a tune on the engine, such as a programmer or twin turbos, would you install it for them? Great work by the way, I love your vids.

  • Sure

  • could you put a powerstroke in my explorer??

  • GM only Brother, sorry

  • @chinchillawrangler i mean could you if you really tried. hypothetically speaking

  • No sorry we only perform this service on GMT8000 and GMT900 SUVs "period"

  • looks fantastic!

  • Thanks

  • No no, thats a turnkey SUV keys in your hand.

  • how long for a conversion

  • We are now in a large enough shop so we are getting caught up now, lead time to get into rotation is about 4-6 weeks and build wait is only about 12-15 days.

  • How much does something like this cost?

  • Typically between 45-50K depending on mileage and options

  • @DuraBurbinc damn

ok how about my old motor and drivetrain ... who takes them

  • @3ashqGMC

Those parts are retained by us. Their value has been figured into the cost of the conversion.

  • Now you switch the 4x4 out for what do you use another transfer case? or allison uses a diferent one?

  • The Allison spec transfer-case is a heavy duty unit to take what the Duramax can dish out, the operational difference is that it doesn't have an Auto-track capability. So we rewire and swap all controls and modules to operate the HD T-case that is standard for the Duramax / Allison package.

  • @DuraBurbinc Ok what about the axles ? How much is the complete swap for the LMM new 2011 engine

  • We actually have a 4mi brand new LMM sitting in the shop, for a build waiting for a customer, if your interested just contact sales at 407-257-9657.

  • Axles on the front are all the same HD or non HD, the rear can be left alone for standard 10,000lb towing or we can install the 11.5 HD unit for 12,000lb towing which ever you prefer.

  • This is awesome! Great job! 1 question, is this the engine in the 2011s with 397hp

  • does duraburb work with gm or do you send a truck in and thy put a diesel in it.

  • would a guy be able to register this thing in california? the pricks running our state make everything so difficult to do and I would expect problems in registering it since you're going from a gas to a diesel engine.

  • Yes and there are several in CA. You will need an exemption from DMV and CA. dose allow you to change engine displacement as long as you don't exceed 10%. Since the Dmax is a 6.6 and the gasser is a 6.0 you just barely make it.

  • I want on that's awesome

  • would an escalade ext or avalanche be possible?

  • Yep, we build them on occasion but they are a "niche" vehicle. So we dont have a video of one but yes and it can be built in the 1500 1/2 ton or be transplanted on a GMT900 2500 3/4 ton frame to pull 12K if you wish.

  • Do you guys use new parts from GM or donor parts? Also, is it possible to fit the LML to the regular escalade and integrate the off road capability from the GM trucks/suvs?

  • New is cost prohibitive for most but we do build "0" mile brand new trucks as well but they incur about a $30-45K premium over the standard 50-75K mi donor builds due to the cost of the trucks involved. Yes we build the Escalade as well and yes they can be set up for 4X4 or 2WD which ever you chose however it is still a 1500 1/2 ton. The ESV can be moved to a 2500 3/4 ton Suburban frame and built as a 2500HD with the Dana 80 11.5" rear end.

  • Great job. You guys are really on to something here.

  • Yes all DuraBurb SUV's are powered by 6.6 Isuzu built Duramax series engines and are coupled with the Allison built 1000 series transmission.

  • No they were a set of 18's the client had us install for him

  • Jump in line, they are booking late April

  • i was thinking about having this done. how much would it cost for the whole conversion with the TowPro package?

  • Just call sales, the # is 407-257-9657. We only build the SUVs at the shop.

  • This SUV is currently for sale by owner for 52K

  • that is beautiful.

  • Thanks, its a fun job

  • What does a turnkey unit cost?

  • mid 40's to mid 50's but it all depends on mileage and options. Sales is @ 407-257-9657

  • this just looks badass... im sure its fricken awesome driving

  • Yea it is, the tow/race tune really wakes it up, how many Full size SUV's do you see that can HAZE the rear wheels. You get 50% better towing capacity over the old 8.1 and you don't have to get a gas tanker to follow you while your towing,

  • can u do this to a 70 style truck? like a 1977 blazer?

  • No Sorry we only go back to 2003, and we no longer build SUVs on "spec" before 2007.

  • Can this setup be put in to the new tahoes as well?

  • Yes we build the Tahoe & Yukon as the SS Series, basically a go fast toy, and the Denali and Escalade as the SSLUX Series, goin' fast with style. Either versions can be 4X2 or 4X4, and a SSMAX where we incorporate the 11.5" HD rear end into the coil over suspension to allow you to "Drive it Like you Stole it!" There is a version to fit any application but remember tow capacity is limited to frame rating so the tow cap would still be the same.

  • Gm should do this. It's a great Idea. I mean, Ford had the Excursion. This would destroy a Excursion

  • Yep 23 MPG hwy and a ride that is unlike that of an Excursion with its forklift type suspension, ya gotta love it.

  • @DuraBurbinc lol nice. 23 mpg HWY??? Damn, that's excellent!

  • if you ever decide to re do the duramax/tahoe conversion in the future i suggest the name "durahoe'

  • We build them all the time I'll get someone to let us vid their Tahoe and post it on our channel at duraburbinc. As for its "catch Name" they are just another run of the mill DuraBurb SS Series. I do like DuraHoe though. I told my wife when I get my twin turbo Tahoe built it would be dubed "the Hoe" she fails to see the humor in it.

  • @DuraBurbinc How much does a build like this cost? When i get home from Afghanistan next year I'm going to be looking into buying a bigger vehicle for the family. I live in Orlando! And this is awesome lol

  • Wow, that is an outstanding job! I'd love to have a Dmax Tahoe or Yukon myself, err 'Tahmax and Durakon' lol. My '09 2500 Sierra, scoots pretty good with the Dmax, but I can't imagine that kind of power in a "little" tahoe or yukon. Imagine an LBZ in a chevy trailblazer.... naaah. >=)

  • The Tahoe's get it pretty good, the Dmax wont fit in a TrailBlazer and retain a OEM finish, we already looked into it. If you go to our channel at duraburbinc you'll see 2 SS Series SUV's a Tahoe and an Escalade, imagine a Twin Turbo Tahoe!! That would be stupid fast. Hmmmmmm 5300 lbs and 1000 FTLBS of torque, OH YEA!

  • @DuraBurbinc Awe, no twin turbo trailblazer haha. Yeah, I checked all the trucks out. Be prepared to buy new tires every month if you got a lead foot, oh hell, less than that, LOL.

  • @DuraBurbinc Actually I do got 1 question, what did y'all do about the front axle and IFS on the half-tons? The engine and tranny, together are pushing 1400 lbs, and would put a strain the whole front end.

  • we've never had any issues but there are upgrade ball joints and tie rod ends on the market should one decide to add that in. Due to the factory engine limitations in 4x4 mode there is no issue with the front diff. the weight difference is 525lbs, 1170 for the Dmax/Ally as to the 645lbs for the 5.3/6L60

  • I still want a duramax / allison van. but this is cool

  • How does this work with CARB emissions?

  • Ca. has an arrangement for for these Duramax SUV's however the SUV must meet all the emission standards for a diesel of the model year of the SUV. Check with your local DMV for details, there are a ton of them running around the west coast.

  • Could you do this to a 2009 Hummer H2???

  • No sorry, the way we keep the cost down is by sticking to a very specific product, in this case GMT800 & GMT900 SUV's. Mike Mash @ MashMotors does them though.

  • it would be nice if you take a video while the truck is on.

  • unfortunately the noise of the engine while fairly quiet for the LBZ and LMM, doesn't translate well on the video.

  • how much for a 04 half ton silverado?

  • Its the same amount of work eigther way, figure around 15K parts & labor

  • Awsome. GM needs the 6.6 in the 3/4 ton, and need an optional small Dmax v8 in the 1/2! TO bad they killed off the Idea of the 4.5 dmax!

  • I would like more info. What is a good contact #? Thanks!

  • Shawn, You can reach DuraBurb Sales @ 407-242-0875

  • that is an awsome looking burb.....my wife need 1 of these!!!

  • have you ever built an Avalanche?

  • No request yet but the Avalanche sits on a Suburban frame so to answer, Yes we can but no we havent yet, never know what tomarrow will bring.

  • still dont understand why they dont do this from the factory.

  • HOW MUCH? can I put a duramax in my 3500 silverado? its 2wd and i want it 4wd is it worth the money. pm me if you need to.

  • not worth it, you can buy what you want far cheaper, the Dmax intergration cost and requirements are the sam for SUV's as P/U. 20-25K

  • They are making a durmax half ton. 4.5L diesel and i believe they are putting it in the suburban also.

  • No unfortunately GM boxed that up after having to file for protection to avoid bankruptcy but I'm sure it will come about some day, I was talking with 2 engineers from Dmax Ltd. today about an unrelated project and asked (where the Duramax is built) and all they knew was GM killed the plant project. But you never know, besides it still isn't a 6.6!

  • what's the dif with duramax compared to the normal sub?

  • The standard differential for the GMT900 2500 is a 14 bolt 10.5" the TowPro receives the HD 11.5".

  • If I had the money I would so have u guys try to put that diesel motor and transmission in my girlfriends 05 h2...but that was sweet. Great job guys.

  • Yea me too, I cant afford this but it is trick!!!!

  • like u said if gm built them and man u showed them u are building them its so freakin awesome

  • Thanks for the props, this SUV series was nothing close to straight forward due to the higher level of technology but now that we know them we will just keep banging them out, the next new challenge will be a 2010 Duramax Escalade ESV 2500! Just have to find someone willing to let us tare into their 50K SUV LOL.

  • Man you guys are cranking out the GMT900/LMM trucks right and left now aren't you?

Great work guys, I really love the looks of the trucks you put out. I WILL own a DuraBurb someday, just as soon as I can afford one!

  • Yea, they were a tough SUV to figure out, but they are just standard production units for us now. I'm with you "I WILL own a DuraBurb someday, just as soon as I can afford one!"

  • i love these SUV's

  • Yea me too, this one has a dual tune from Nick Duramax Tuner.com Tow mode makes pulling a dream with all the extra torque, the race tune is better suited for shredding the tires on demand. With the hauler seen in the background loaded with 1000lbs or so, this client averaged 12MPG @ 75MPH not to shabby.
