I have VMware fusion but it tend to legs or stall the laptop for a few minutes bfore working again. Then that again it is unstable. I am not sure what is wrong or should i change to parallel.
"Performance wise, it blows..." "...parallels out of the water"
When I heard that I flipped :P until I heard the next couple words hehe
oooo and does anybody know....HOWWWW DO I GET MY INTERNET CONNECTION FROM MY MAC OVER TO MY VIRTUAL MACHINE! I have Windows 7 on it and it gives the choice of some crappy house, public, or business thing, but not the connection I have for my mac, I tried to connect it and it said there was some error.......HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP PLEAAAAAAAAAAAASEE! :(
@cienciasmedicas Parallels was pretty crappy around the time he made this. Apple Gurus at Apple suggested to use VMware or Bootcamp. But yes, Parallels is a lot better now.
@GTAMenn2 and when did he say that? Because Windows was the operating system of apple computers until Bill went to the other companies and decided to make some extra profits.
i totally agree vmware is diff. the winner when it comes to running windows on mac os x i have run both softwares and parallels always seems to have some problems setting up vmware and running windows 7 is effortless yeah and i hate vista to waste of a partition keep up the good work
It should, why, are you torrenting it? Might was well just get the normal xp then, it runs great in vmware fusion (can't attest to paralells) especially with vmwares accelerated 3d graphics. Just don't expect to play anything tougher on your graphics card then counterstrike source.
Oh, I did a google search. If you select the operating system to Windows XP it should work. It will work on some windows version. (I recommend Parallels Desktop)
further more if u use osx on pc, apple will not support u or help u if u have any problems since they do not encourage it on a pc, and yes it is illegal
installing os 10 on a PC isn't illegal, the apple store says so but it's not worth buying a copy of leopard, it's like very expensive, and like yew cant install it as much as you want... i would just buy a MacBook with leopard
this video is quite old, both vmware 2 and parallels 4 are very decent, not much to choose between them. I use vmware 2 and it works really well, have used it with vista and xp. Vista is a ram hog, si Id go to 4GB ram if your running vista
i didn't try it much inside linux, but , i really believe v.box will be more faster than vm ware in all platforms. i mean newer versions if virtual box are much faster than older ones, just like open office.
yea i downloaded the new v.box and the new ub 9.04, i never thought id be able to run the desktop effects inside a virtual machine, but v. box did it, i think at the moment, v box is good or even better than vm ware.
It's actually just the same speed, if not 1,000,000,000,000 times faster AND better. Emulating Windows on Mac finally lets the light of Windows shine a little. Fewer crashes, seamless emulation. Wonderful.
i got my macbook (finally) a few days ago and has anyone got win7 beta "aero" theme working on fusion? cause ive been hearing that win 7 has improved alot and i would like it on my macbook instead of the super slow vista or xp
what would you recommend for a mac mini. i would like windows, but it's not my biggest priority. i know the mini doesn't have alot of ram and i think you said parallels uses a good bit of ram. if you do partition your hard drive for boot camp and windows messes up, can you take windows off?
Yes, simply go to boot camp assistant and choose to remove the partition. It will restore your single disk mac to the state prior to partition for windows.
Your Windows under Parallels works exactly how Windows native on a PC. You need the same protections. It's very important to install AntiVirus into Windows in Parallels. If you have a problem (Virus, Windows wrongworks, etc.)the easy solution is reinstal Windows in Paralles.
parallels kills your CPU and RAM. I have parallels, and i allow 1GB of RAM for Vista. I have 2GB in all, and between paralells, Leopard, and vista my RAM is maxed out and my CPU is around 80%. Maybe VMware is better
@Porojukaha personally I dont want it but it has yet to be adopted by the business community. However if you pay attention to technology trends Apple has grown in market share by leaps and bounds. Check out the stock price. However, in the meantime I will continue to run Dual boot windows on my Mac with OSX being the OS I use 95% of the time. Your day will come. Enjoy your future Mac.
@Porojukaha I use it (VMware Fusion 3) to run modelling software (Geotechnical and Mapping), and other programs that will not run on Mac OS X (yet...).
@Porojukaha Because there are exclusive applications for Windows. For me it's Vegas, because I have a lot of experience with it. Otherwise, I'd go for OS X Lion over Windows 7 any day.
@filippo333 Sounds like jealousy to me! Just the fact that I can run OSX and Win 7 on one machine is more than enough reason to have a Mac. BTW Mac's are not overly expensive. The more machine you want the more it will cost is true but if you cost compare between PC and Mac and use identical parts (in every way) then the cost of a PC is similar to a Mac. PC's break down way more often and get Hacked all the time. Mac no so much.
@skimpaler You sir obviously have no idea, I used to run Snow Leopard on my Windows computer, everything worked from the wireless to the SD Card reader. I removed it after a while because I was always either using Vmware Fusion or Windows itself and I didn't see the point in wasting my time with all these fancy Mac apps. Plus the new video card I recently installed doesn't work with even the official macs so yeah...
with VMware fusion when im in Unity mode if i were to minimize a windows app the app would disappear. in order for me to maximize the app again i have to exit unity. is their a fix or way around this?
i've watched a good few of your videos and i know you are the right guy to ask. can you do a video and show me how to set up xp to run on a mac in Parallels mode? i need xp to run a program called citect as i dont think i can get a copy of it that is mac supported. ( every thing in uni is Xp.)
first of all, you should change your vid title cause you dont talk about parallel at all

this video is totally usesless in gaining insight as to which product to pick.
i actually thought that this was justified. i have used parallels on my 2.4ghz 2gb of ram macbook and whilst its incredible and very practical its actually so slow i wouldnt consider using it for any real applications. in coherence mode on xp, msn by itself gets both cores running around 80% and takes up 70% of my ram. i guess i just dont mind this video cos im looking into vmware-not wanting to hear how slow parallels is.
take that as a word of warning everyone-parallels is dog slow.
yeah, why support the companies that write the high quality software you use? if you're into getting free software, then use free open source software (FOSS). software should be free, but you're stealing from people who try to make a living from writing/producing/publishing it.
I don't feel like using Virtualbox, OpenOffice, or Gimp. I love pirating software. The more expensive it is, the better. I honestly don't care if I'm stealing. Cry?
me too just thing about it lets say you built a pc in home ~$800 and need OS you go to a store buy it for ~$200? office ~$150 anti-virus ~$100 photoshop etc. ~$100 3DSM ~$120 Gams one = ~$100 the list goes on and on and on and on and on in place yo wast ~$670 wast ~$67 I am a dev too I do programs and 3D arts I would give away any thing I did unless they ask me to do I get payed
"You're just another asshole that has nothing better to do than talk shit about someone you're jealous over. Get a grip, idiot."

ive tried the free trial and looked up all the stats but it doesn't support GMod and thats the only reason i have steam. they only support steam for CSS
Parallels is much faster than vmware if you use Windows XP virtual inside a Mac. If you want Vista, then vmware is more stable. Bootcamp is fine but it's highly inconvenient because you need to restart.
I have VMware fusion but it tend to legs or stall the laptop for a few minutes bfore working again. Then that again it is unstable. I am not sure what is wrong or should i change to parallel.

I know its the best to use bootcamp for games because it has a 100% performance. but which is better to play games on parallels or vmware??
badenbrarrar 3 years ago
VMware Fusion adapts 3D graphics more proficiently. So, yes, VMware Fusion is better for gaming on a Windows platform at a DirectX 9 standard.

XtremePCGamer thanks for telling us how much you know about GNU Linux.
Your usually better off keeping your mouth shut instead of spilling you tardness all over the web.

Im sorry that people dont care about a queer cube, i like spaces in mac because it takes less time to find a space im looking for than to maneuver around a fucking cube. XtremePCGamer is right..... FUCK LINUX!

demonwx10 3 years ago
yup its possible...
when u select the virtual machine you want to install itl give u an option to run the boot camp partition instead

@bickflix...
its a matter of opinion to other people ...u cant force them into liking a product.
i personlay like apple and find it easier for my work and use..
but there are a few people who prefer sticking with windows ...
rather just leave them at peace with their system is what i say..
both os's have their positives..

VmWare Rocks

how do u get a video longer than 10 mins
farrellt61093 3 years ago
Parallels is much faster than vmware if you use Windows XP virtual inside a Mac. If you want Vista, then vmware is more stable. Bootcamp is fine but it's highly inconvenient because you need to restart.
NearlyNubile 3 years ago
do you need bootcamp for VMware?
brostinkles1 3 years ago
No.
PhatPazzo 3 years ago
vmware fusion runs inside osx.
is an application, like office, or ilife, that virtualizes the hardware.
ringuete 3 years ago
I'm guessing vmware works great with xp and leopard.
