  • I think American Idolatry is a huge problem... I reckon.

  • Don't be... Stained Paper Jesus HAHAHA!!!

  • Don't be Duped!

  • make no mistake, do NOT BE FOOLED! Nobody "manages anger" or "conquers fear" -Taken from variation of Dr. Reynolds writings

  • is there any way i could download this full sermon from somewhere?

  • everything is terrible

  • Maybe all of her beliefs and his beliefs are just made up bullshit?

  • @hahnbd Anal sex (sodomy) is unnatural, sinful, & can be harmful to one's health, but I wouldn't classify it as idolatry. Homosexuality & using contraception to prevent new life are grave sins. All Christian denominations were against artificial birth control as a means to prevent new life until the 1930s. Did God's view change or did your "church" concede & listen to a lie of this world? The Catholic Church was established by Jesus. There are thousands of man-made Protestant denominations. :(

  • @CatholicBruin Did God's view change or did our church concede? How about, did your "church" decide something was law when it wasn't in the Bible?

Papal decree does not equal God's world, yeah I said it. God's word is enough. So before you go blasting all Protestants claiming that we're not quite as "Christian" as Catholics, you should consider that maybe men like John Calvin and Martin Luther were inspired by God to do what they did because the Catholic church was full of dogmatic crap.

  • @aTrueHybrid Amen.

  • @aTrueHybrid how do u define prophet? If a prophet is one who foretells the future on behalf of a supernatural power, then Jesus was certainly a prophet, because He predicted His own death and resurrection! Jesus was a Prophet, a High Priest, and a King.

  • No respect for Hinduism?

    Grrreat...

  • Thumbs up on this sermon! Pastor Driscoll tells people what they need to hear, not what they want to hear.

  • It's official. The fundamentalists are complete wackos. Thank the ancestors we can see past them.

  • ...said the preacher regarding idolatry of entertainment on a stage - video recorded - on the web - on YouTube, to be worshiped at home on your computer.

Mark's message supports the idolatry he rails against. Mark can't win, he never will win, he'll always be yelling at himself so long as he keeps recording his sermons for all posterity to view online, on computers, forever and ever, yelling. amen.

  • @Hotnuttt are you aware of how often the popes throughout history issued papal bulls and spoke ex-cathedra just to suit there personal desires. They wanted to build st Peters basilica, I know I'll decree indulgences so people can pay their way out of purgatory (cause the blood of Jesus is clearly not sufficient) and thus fund a monument to the greatness of the vatican, not the glory of God.

  • Spot On! We need to be aware of these things. I would love it someday if stadiums and arena's were bare and Baketball and football players had to play for 20 bucks an hour. Wouldnt that be nice? Maybe if everyone waited for their favorite movies to come out on net flix, I wouldnt have to see a news story about some Actor who just bought a 15 million dollar house. We as a society can even it out, by not feeding it.

  • yeah Mark so when your done screwing your wife in the pooper, watching the STUPIDbowl & ULTIMATE FIGHTING then you can rightly criticize otherwise take the REDWOOD tree out of your own eye 1ST ! ! !

  • @caucazhin "yeah Mark so when your done screwing your wife in the pooper, watching the STUPIDbowl & ULTIMATE FIGHTING then you can rightly criticize otherwise take the REDWOOD tree out of your own eye 1ST ! ! !"

This might possibly be the dumbest attempt of a comment I have ever heard. Under what biblical pretense does his sex life, him watching the superbowl, and watching UFC have anything to do with what he talked about? First off, most married couples have sex (I'm pretty sure?)....

  • @caucazhin and assuming anal sex within marriage is idolatry is nonsense. Secondly, he is talking about putting sports before God, so that argument is flawed. Same goes with UFC. I sense a bit of legalism here, you should definitely read in Colossians.

  • @AmericanPatriot333 Anal sex within marraige is idolatry. God did not intend for anal sex. Biologically, it is wrong on so many levels.

  • @hahnbd I firmly believe if both parties agree and it is completely mutual then have at it but I also think if its for one persons gain, then heck yeah it is idolatry. Marriage is the idea that the two come together as one and to explore the beauty of God's design. Anal sex, oral sex, etc. From what you stated, I get the impression that anything other than fornication is idolatry? I do not believe that at all. The Bible strictly states homosexuality as a sin, but as far as that, nothing

  • @hahnbd that I have read has said anal sex within marriage is a sin/idolatry. I think it is how you are brought up, what you are taught about sex in Church and with the parents. Mind you, my parents never talked about anal sex with me (sure glad they didn't). Obviously it isn't for everyone, but I am pretty sure there are strong Christians out there that have anal sex. To call them idolaters can be dangerous within your own heart. But....thats just my opinion.

  • @AmericanPatriot333 If God was standing next to you, would He be ok with you engaging in the improper use of the human body? Check your conscience instead of a legalistic checklist.

  • @PropheticVindicator a biblical understanding of sex dispels false fears and inhibitions. …The Scriptures tell us clearly that the joyous sexual expression of love between husband and wife is God's plan. …Uninformed people have actually considered the Victorian view to be biblical because they think the Bible forbids all earthly pleasures. Certainly not! In fact, the Bible is far more 'liberated' concerning sex than untaught people realize......

  • @PropheticVindicator.......in God's view there is a mutuality of experience between husband and wife. Each has an equal right to the other's body. Each has not only the freedom but also the responsibility to please the other and to be pleased in return. …These basic principles concerning the enjoyment of sex in marriage are found in 1 Corinthians 7:3-5…

  • @AmericanPatriot333 I don't care what you say, that is a perversion. That's not how God created sex. Sorry.

  • @PropheticVindicator Then don't do it. That also means oral, toys, foreplay, etc... If you want to limit yourself to sex in a procreation sense then by all means do that. Remember if you think anal sex is wrong, then anything other than just sex is wrong as well. There are no in betweens.

  • @hahnbd Not to mention hemmroids

  • @caucazhin Colossians 2:16-24

  • Moron

  • Idolatry is my number one sin! :P

  • @aTrueHybrid In other words he is everything and nothing lol

  • @aTrueHybrid Not to say that Jesus didn't fulfill the role of a Prophet as well. He is Prophet, Priest, and most of all KING. The Son of God!

  • @fenderstrt4 Define God tho - There are so many definitions - you cant all be right. But,,,,;;;;... You could all be wrong

  • I wonder how much he charged the poor goons to attend...

  • @railroadtrash09 I look on my television these days and there are around 20 faith channels all with people like Mark Driscoll whose sole aim is to flease as many people as possible. The worst thing about Mark is his trendy image which can easily lure impressionable young people into his cult. Something should be done about these paracites!!!!!!!

  • @jimmajamma2006 And the sad thing about it, is that if there wasn't a market for such things, they wouldn't exist. With that said, can you imagine the millions of dollars that go untaxed???

  • @railroadtrash09 Haha, what do you mean by that?

  • @ResurrectedThinker What I meant is that his profits go untaxed since they are considered a donation!

  • so kids turn off ur tvs and stop watching me because ............ uhh well its alright kids keep watching my show but only watch me not those other pagans that dont have a sharktooth around their neck and have two buttons undone on their shirt----Mr. I ma good " christian " my favorite quote.

  • This mohommad guy just followed satan. Jesus is Lord and savior of this earth. Dont mean to sound mean but Im really tired of muslims claiming Jesus was only a prophet. For the record, muslims follow a guy who had a 9 year old wife. Im just saying.

  • Consumerism is anti-Christian

  • Oh please!

We overlook the idolatry of Nation (called 'patriotism') Militarism and War (called defence) and Injustice (called Market), and then get feeling all self-righteous about the chicken deity.

How IS it everything turns on petty personal sins (which are admittedly sinful and self-destructive), but overlook the weightier matters of love and justice?

See Mt 23:23 for Jesus' take on this.

  • anything can be idolotry...

  • Yes Mark. THis is good. PLEASE PASTORS! PLEASE preach about FOOD ADDICTION from the pulpit ! PLEASE People are in bondage! RISE UP! Wake up and preach - people are uner strongholds and bondage to FOOD ! PLEASE preach! No it's not comfortable - no - people wont like it - yes, you might be in bondage yourself - but please Americans are being defeated on so many levels because of the idolatry of food. Preach!

  • oh Jesus! if you would research what is in food you would know its not people.. its the enemy poluting our food!! The people perish because of their lack of knowledge! but if you teach them what is in food.. hopefully they will turn...

  • this guy s cool

  • I totally agree we are filled with Idols in north america consumerism......It woke me up.......so true.....this is how we waste away

  • Normally I disagree with what he says/how he says it but kudos here.

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? ' Jesus said to him 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment." Matthew 22:36,37

  • that's wut it sounds like he is saying

  • Then no offense, but you're not understanding what he's saying. It's not that it's wrong to enjoy something, but it is wrong when it becomes a god. There's nothing wrong with me enjoying a delicious Western Bacon Cheeseburger from Carl's Junior, but there is something wrong when I am depending on that burger and it becomes my god.

  • yeah, i realize it later. I have sometimes, struggled with that. I love expensive trips. That's one thing. But at one point I was more excited bout going there then Christ's return. PROBLEM. Pray for me, please. By the way, it's all about the 6 dollar burgers! :P

  • by the way, I love driscol. Such a bold dude

  • There is something wrong to enjoy a Western BACON Cheeseburger read Leviticus 11: 1-47 and Deuteronomy 14: 3-20. God Bless.

  • agentgooner007 You silly goose, living under the old covenant thinking God didn't expose to us in the New that it was ok to eat such critters (Acts 10). Get a New Testament and read it in light of the Old and you'll come up with a better post on YouTube. Much Love!

  • "You silly goose" lol l have never had such a kind diss. l have not got to The New Testament yet, however the First five books are The Laws, Statutes and Judgements and shall stand till the end of Time (is how l understand it) that said if l read and am told other wise by God that it is changed then l will go back to eating Pork but till then l'm going to obey everything. Much Love right back atch ya and God Bless (and thanks for looking out for me).

  • Did some digging and found this, Jesus said: Do not think that I have come to abolish The Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from The Law until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18). Also if you do some research on pigs you will find they contain 19 diff worms, cannot sweat hence full of poision (unclean). Love.

  • Acts 10:15

Exactly. Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial/social/moral law for us so that we no longer are under the OT law but under New Covenant Grace. In fulfillment of all this we no longer under the New Covenant need to avoid foods or keep ceremonial/social laws (ie. slaughtering goats and trimming beards). The only thing we uphold as fruit in our lives is the moral as that being evidence of Him in us. The law is there to leave the whole world guilty before God, while for the Christian (cont)

  • (cont) it is there as a reminder as to how far we've fallen. We don't look back to the law as a means of righteousness, but as a reminder of how serious the cross of Jesus is. Which in turn should lead us to some amazing worship! It really doesn't matter about the pig issue. Under this New Covenant, you really have no ground to say that something you eat is unclean as Jesus said "What comes out of a person is what defiles him" mark 7 Again read the OT in light of the New and you'll see grace.

  • Also I highly encourage you to read Galatians as Paul addresses this very issue of holding to the Old Covenant Law.

  • Oooo Also Hebrews. That's another good one. Sorry, I get excited with God's Word :-D You actually encouraged me inadvertently to read them again!

  • Please read Matthew 5:17-20. Don't let your "Self" delude you. Crucify it DAILY and help to set up The Kingdom which will of course have The Laws, Statutes and Judgements of God not the laws and opinions of man/"self" (look where that has got us in the world today with some people with enough wealth for a billion life times while people not a mile away dying of starvation). lf this does not help you l shall point out that both The Old and New Testament have been chronologically been surpass cont

  • Cont.. by The Koran (600 AD and is what l will be reading after The New Testament) and was brought down due to peoples digresstion from The Way which re-states the dietary requirements of God (no swine Koran Sura 6:145) unless it out of necessity (going to die Acts 10-15, Sura 2.173, 5.003, 6.145). l have nothing but Love and respect for your trying to help me but l will always follow Gods direct teachings not those of man/"self" or the church (Matthew 6:5-6, 1 John 2:27). Love.

  • Just to make clear by what l mean by "self", It is not "I" that lives but Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20). It is not "Self" that lives but "Christ" lives in me. It is not "Self" that lives but "The Anointed One" - the One whose head/mind is anointed with the "Oil of Understanding" - the oil that lubricates the "seized-up" mind and gets it working again, understanding the TRUTH or WORD of God. Also when l said going to die l meant faint with hunger as well and God sending any animal to cont..

  • cont.. help overcome the hunger/faintness and to not refuse it on the grounds of the meat being "unclean" as it is a gift from God and therefore not to be called so (Acts 10-15, Sura 2:173, 5:003, 6:145) and this is why it's so important to read all THREE Books, Louis Farrakhan once said to a hall full of Jews, Christians and Muslims "lf Abraham is the root, lets not deal in branch knowledge" . 1 (OT) stick will fall in any direction, 2 (NT) will fall from side to side but 3 will stand strong.

  • Thank you for clarifying your view. I still believe you are wrong, and in need of the grace of Jesus alone. I agree with much of what you said earlier that there is need of law, but the OT ceremonial and social laws are now completed and no longer needed to be observed. The moral law yes, but not as a means of salvation (Ephesians 2:8,9) The Quran is another subject which is another god altogether whom Christians do not worship. It is merely the figment of Mohammad's imagination

  • I would also encourage you to watch the video's of Mark Driscoll. If you have Podcast you can get his Through Mars Hill Church Seattle. This is a guy who will preach at a scholarly level while still common enough where people will get it. I agree that we must die to self daily, and that also means dying to thinking that we should observe the laws that have already been fulfilled in Christ. I do care about you even though I do not know you or have met you. I just hope you want Jesus alone.

  • Thank you very much, l appreciate your care, concern and advice. l wish you all the best neighbour and hope to meet you at our real Home one day. Take care and God bless you.

P.S. There is only one God (no need to reply telling me you know as l know you do) but l will send you a video to show you (maybe) that The Bible and Quran have the same Author. Peace.

  • l have decided not to send that video to you but will urge you to past by a site jahtruthDotcoDotuk (change the Dot for . and put the w's in front). Thank you.

  • why is it idolitary to enjoy something? just b/c u watch tv, movies, eat at places makes it idolitary?

  • awesome video

  • some research? u need to be the one doing a research, only fools like u would say something like that about Jesus when is well documented in HISTORY that HE walked on this earth. Get your facts straight and do some reading.

  • Go read some. Even atheists believe Jesus walked the earth. Even History scholars admit that non-biblical historical sources mention everything we learned about Jesus in the Bible, except his deity and resurection. In fact, he is more mentioned in history than the ROMAN EMPEROR that lived in his epoque.

So, YOU must repent for having heard the gospel and just looped to sin as you could using litte atheist blogs about Jesus.

  • well said!

  • Jesus is LORD.

    I live it.

    That is all :)

  • It's all good, you can deny it, that doesn't mean you wont be judged.

You don't believe in God and he doesn't believe in you.

  • Americans worship comfort, television, clothing, mirrors, etc

Idols take up ones time....America is going to get a severe punishment.

  • Exactly. They faced ridicule, torture, and death for following Christ. There was nothing lucrative about it. They aren't getting residuals from Bible sales today.

  • gos doesn't exist, sorry. some con men made up a book to get rich.

  • screw this guy. he sounds exactly like those xenophiles who condemn mexicans. he can't stomach other cultures, and he says women should lie down for their husbands. that's despicable. i don't care whp you are, insuating that belief that was never supported by the bible is hatred. maybe is mom beat him when he was a kid. he says women are less functionable. why, because they're less stong? they aren't less smart. suck my dry balls , pastor mark.

  • I couldn't agree with you more...I'm just wondering why you commented to me.

  • A very uneducated man.

    Narcissistic and self loathing!

  • "American Idolatry" that's kinda repetitive

  • blasphy you are a piece of shit....he speaks the truth and i at least understand it ....although i dont practice it but it hits me and people like you have a sub intellect and iq under 100 so shut the fuck up....nobody cares about your opinoin......i see it..and you are a stupid piece of shit who will NEVER understand anything you arrogant stupid arrogant son of a bitch..

  • leprechaun, you're not much better

  • Driscoll's an idiot.

  • Its a miracle he actually said something I don't disagree with.

  • And as such, i also want to say, that the religion itself can be an idol. Our highest belief is not true knowledge, the objective truth, but is at least a useful rudder to help us steer in blindness through this world - full of things mysterious to our hearts. And by hearts, i mean that: when you are heartfelt - a thought has hit your whole system; BAM!!! It is a natural consequence of what we call being terribly "moved". The mind and body coexist. That's done with, i want to say:

    Work hard bro.

  • This thread is dead.

    Any way:

I wanted to say that what ever we put our faith in, is the greatest thing that we can imagine. Some people put all faith in a person, which then can let them down which would hurt them. Some put faith in simpler things, and some put faith in the properties (such as the mighty roar of the lion).

And some put faith in watching TV, believing/wanting to believe that it is meaningful.

We all put our faith in things, but most in the concept of eternity through conduct.

  • If by eternity through conduct you mean eternity based on merit or a "well-lived life" that is the opposite of what Christians believe.

  • It is the economic system which makes the idols so darn big. Fing capitalism.

  • I meant, without being ironic (ehm, that chicken thing i said), that what is important to our lives is not an integral part of the indian's life. Without killing chickens, what would he do? Similarily, we would wheel around in circles if we get bored. And boredom might turn out to make us actually use our heads a little bit. But for someone, the "idols" actually mean something. Such as the poor capitalist people who do not have jobs and need to do something, such as idolatry, to get money.

  • But from the indian's point of view, the chicken looks much funnier. No, that is prejudice.

  • So the basic idea, the whole reason for this outrage, is that people are spending time on things that interest them, pleasure them or fulfill them in some way. Or, if people look up to someone for something they have done instead of out of blind faith. Wtf?

Ah, religion. I won't say any more.

  • Hattes, do ALL theists base their beliefs on blind faith?

You clearly didn't understand the video at all. As a non-Christian, I can understand why this doesn't make any sense to you. But the Bible teaches that Christians are to submit EVERYTHING to God, and do everything for His glory; in fact, the Bible even goes as far as to command that we be living sacrifices to God (Rom. 12:2). It's not that it's wrong to enjoy things, but it is wrong for Christians to be more devoted to them than to God

  • dang, u get it so well.

  • Mark's an American asshole.

  • y do you say that?

  • Wow! People are getting defensive. T.V. itself is not an idol, but if you give it more attention and adoration than you give God, then it becomes an idol. You can apply that to anything. (Flag, statue, bowling ball) You have people in this country who will burn a cross, but will lose their mind if you burn the flag. Once you take that point of view the flag ceases as a symbol and becomes an idol. Burning the flag is disrespectful but not some spiritual offense. PEACE.

  • Ok well then if everything is idolotary then let us turn off our computers and never listen to this guy again...amen?

  • Wait... Where exactly did he say that EVERYTHING is idolatry?

  • I agree with RAIDERJO76 on some point:

Mark wasn't specific about what he was really trying to say. And any way, it was a sensation for him because it was a common rhetorical bonding point for people to understand each other. Obviously, he proves little by literal logic, but one can easily make sense out of this: Why do we glorify the games? Why do they ritually snuff out chickens? Out of an unpartial viewing point, none of those idols and rituals make sense.

They keep it personal, that's it.

  • Exactly.

Using things and even getting joy out of things isn't idolatry, but it is when we make it "Lord of our life." This is what we all do, including me, with things other than Christ, whether it be football, videogames, sex, money, whatever.

  • good point. tim keller puts it best when he says that idolatry is "taking a good thing and making it an ultimate thing."

  • This is so funny... I completely agree with everything Mark Driscoll says in this video. I am NOT a fan of Driscoll, as a matter of fact, most of the time I look at him as the opposite of a role model. But what he is saying in this message is basically thought for thought what I have been contemplating recently. It is just further proof to me that we are ALL capable of obtaining truth, no matter what state we are in.

  • so, what state is he in?

  • Mark Driscoll-state?

  • Your god is your flag when you place your hand over your heart and offer yourself to it.

Matthew 5:33-37 and James 5:12 instruct Christians NOT TO SWEAR OATHS.

The Pledge of Allegiance is a LOYALTY OATH in which one offers oneself!

Christians give their hearts to Christ for Him to enter. Christians are a living sacrifice unto God, and we are His.

When you place your hand over your heart and offer yourself in a loyalty oath, you are committing idolatry!

  • I don't understand why anyone would get all bent out of shape over this clip. Unless one didn't listen to what he said.

  • people turn cars into idols, TV into an idol, they turn money into an idol, and some people turn their children into little idols, if we are going to ban TV shouldnt we ban cars and children too.. i know that extreme, but an idol is anything you put infront of God. not just TV ::insert eye roll::

  • Getting carried away with entertainment is obviously a sin. IT IS NOT IDOLATRY. Idolatry means exactly what you think it means. Calling all sins "idolatry" is not helpful or meaningful. There are ten commandments, only one is about idolatry. Was God confused when He wrote the other nine?

Someone needs to seroiusly talk to that confused woman from India. But I'm not surprised she was hanging out with Mark Driscoll, they're two of a kind: Confused, angry and self-righteous.

  • dricoll prolly ownd a 52 inch projector screen

  • First of all, Cleaverfor, why the personal attacks? How did Driscoll appear to be confused, angry, or self-righteous? If you don't like what he said, fine, but he's a Christian talking to Christians.

Second, all sin IS idolatry. When a Christian sins, they are saying for that moment that the sin is more important to them that Christ. When we sin, it's because we're convinced that that sin is going to satisfy us more than God will, which is idolatry.

  • very well put. Our sin becomes our savior to help us through a particular moment in our lives rather than just faithfully following Christ who is our true savior.

  • He is correct. How many will spend hours watching football and not teach their children about the Bible. We well drop 100 for a dinner and not think one thing about some poor soul in China starving for his or her faith.

  • Babylon = pagan idolatry Rev. 17-18

  • Our world truly has become more and more insane!

Welcome here, to our culture! Scary!

  • When I gave my life to God, many years ago, the first thing I leanred from jesus teaching was to unleaven my life. The TV was the first thing I threw out of our house.

You see if Jesus said, "If your hand offend thee, cut it off, if your eye offend thee, pluck it out" I ask, Why are people not willing to just throw out the TV? If you can't throw out the TV, you most certianly can not pluck out your eye or cut off your hand.

I am amazed at what 3 hours a day bible study did in my life. Free!

  • i wonder why you havent thrown out your computer either, a little leven ruins the whole loaf...

  • I use my computer because my work requires it. My work does not require my TV so it is gone, my work does not require my radio and so it went with the TV.

  • Well why are you still on your computer. I'm a Christian and I love Jesus, but a tv is not a big deal. It's okay if a tv causes you to sin (offend thee) but it's not a big deal

  • Getting rid of our TV and radio was one of the best things we ever did. Our sons and daughter now sit and talk together with us, spend time bible study together. We spend 2 or 3 hours a day in bible study now without the TV. BTW we own a company that does computer repair, we have computers because the work requires it. Our work does not require TV.

  • I have a tv and i spend maybe 30 minutes a day watching some random garble when i need to just zone out from my crazy life. I usually spend a vast majority of my time researching christian topics. Deapen my walk. I have found tons of powerfully non apostate young people preaching with the authority of the holy spirit and not some bible taught college mandate

  • That doesn't make you mega Christian. John Piper doesn't have a tv he is a great teacher. Dricsoll has a tv he is a great teacher as well.

  • I dont consider our tv, computer, and radio as an Idol. There is no nothing wrong to watch tv, playing videos game, using the computer, ect. But if you put an object that is higher than God, it is idol and idolatry.

  • If our T.V. is hindering our relationship with Christ, we (those of us who are Christians) should get rid of it, but it's not like it's a sin if you don't. I don't understand what everyone here is arguing about. If your a Christian and want to have a TV, that's cool. If your a Christian and you get rid of your TV because it hinders your relationship with God, that's great to, and it says a lot about how much you love Christ.

  • Hammer, meet nail!

  • Vintage Driscoll: Something to offend anyone: people who eat at restaurants, people who attend sports events, people who watch television. Watch it.

  • Yes, sometimes the gospel does offend. Maybe the reason this offends some people is because these things mentioned are truly there idols. However i dont think that pastor mark is condemning these things out right. He is simply saying that as people with sinful natures we tend to worship and devote ourselves to anything other than the one true Savior, and that is the essence of idolatry, and it is a sin that we all must repent of.

  • Right on Mark!

  • what about the idol of your podium, or the center you're in

  • wow, yes, some preachers can even idolize thier own egos as we see under the surface here

  • I wonder if he mentioned America's number one idol, the American Flag? You want to find out the real religious beliefs of Americans see how offended they are when that idol is disrespected.

  • The flag is not an idol, you dont even know its symbolism. The red and white stripes represent Jesus blood washing away our sins. You need to study the meaning of the american flag colors and symbols before you speak.

  • You got to be kidding, about the flag! It represents freedom, to worship and believe what's true, for an individual. A right some country's don't permit.

  • it all comes down to this;if you have told one lie, your a liar. if you have stolen even once, your a theif. if you have looked with lust, you have commited adultery in your heart and you have to face GOD on judgment day! revelation ch.21v8-says ALL liars will have their part in the lake of fire. the bible says;no theif or adulterer will inherit GODs kingdom. unless you repent and trust in JESUS CHRIST,you will have to suffer the consequences of your sins yourself!

  • He doesn't compromise the doctrine...he just changes the methodology. Methology is not inspired by God, doctrine from Scripture is

  • Why r ppl so negative towards Mark? His modern preaching methods are aimed at the younger congregation, God bless him and his good work.

  • he is a fresh air on all this dirt RELIGION world..he is a bless.:)

  • It's hard for me to take him seriously when he's preaching in a pair worn out jeans, and there is no bible to be seen for miles.

  • Ever heard of a guy named Jesus who was the son of God? I'm pretty sure he wasn't wearing a suit and tie.

  • It's irreverent...kinda like your lower case "s" when your wrote Son of God. You're right he didn't wear a suite and tie, but he didn't try to look like the world on purpose as to blend in. A Christian is called out of the world, a peculiar people, not conformed to this world. It's worldly and irreverent. God is not honored by it. Go meet the President in a pair of torn jeans and look like a jerk. It's wrong. At home, or at the park, whatever...not while preaching.

  • Vichlopet,

I see what you are saying. Christians shouldn't blend in, they need to stand out.

I'll be sure to take your advice next time I'm spreading the Gospel.

Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a clown suit?

  • What's wrong with the one you're wearing?

  • Vichlopet,

I would really rather not throw insults. I'm just trying to make the point that Christians do not need to dress differently or fancier than other people. I think the idea that you need a suit to get into heaven is a very perturbing one.

  • I didn't say that. This is ridiculous.

  • why dont u go naked and wear a billboard suit next time, jajajaa

seriously don't watch what hes wearing thats called legalisim vichlopet

  • Amen

  • So, you would feel better if someone would grap a bucket of whitewash and paint the outside to your liking? "Man looks upon the outward appearance..." Words of life or dead men's bones. Therefore you gotta listen.

  • A response to ----- "It's hard for me to take him seriously when he's preaching in a pair worn out jeans, and there is no bible to be seen for miles." vichlopet

  • Mark doesn't understand what idolatry truly is. Idolatry is the act of worshipping a false deity as opposed to the one living and true God. Compare Exodus 20 in this issue.

Question: I wonder if Mark considers 10,000+ views of his video on YouTube about idolatry, well.... idolatrous? :-).

  • that is exactly what he's saying. we don't have "altars" or statues in america, but we offer worship to plenty of things other than God. what is worship? investing time, talent, treasure in something; elevating that thing above all others. if you think americans don't worship tv, their bodies or sports, you are blind.

  • You should check out Colossians 3:5 where Paul said that greed [among other sins] is idolatry. Greed is not a deity.

  • Read 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy. Look up the definition of Greed. Greed is idolatry because greedy people idolize posessions, they brag about them, they show them off, they flaunt them, they turn to possessions for peace, happiness and comfort.

This is why it is said, "the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil." This generation is who jesus was speaking about, "woe to man because of the things that must come, but woe to the generation to whom they come." Read 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy.

  • Preach it Brother Mark!!!!

  • amen!

  • I'd never thought about the world quite like that, I have given more money to my twin Gods than I ever have to any church. [My twin Gods are my old '98 and my current XP.

  • Read Greg Boyds MYTH OF A CHRISTIAN NATION and watch interview on google video with Charlie Rose and his CNN interview on youtube

  • I agree with Boyd... great book- important message.

  • have the book, but haven't read it yet. i'm dying to.

Religion AKA/Church = a place to relieve your selfish conscience
