i think people on benefits (JSA) should be forced to do some community work or lose their benefits. if they refuse to give something back why should people who work hard day in day out on minimum wage (like me) pay for them. Most is wasted on alcohol and drugs.

The decent, hard-working, tax-paying majority of this country have a legitimate right to demand that their money is spent both wisely and fairly. I didn't say poverty never existed before. Poverty has always existed & will always exist. Welfare removes incentive to escape poverty. It prevents people from learning valuable lessons that would enable them to be successful. It rewards people for staying in poverty, & punishes them for trying to escape. People that would otherwise escape become trapped. It also replaces the bread winning role of parents, leading to more single parent households. These are the ways welfare causes more poverty.

Give him a chance to succeed in school, support him and raise the minimum wage so he thinks lets work! If you got off your throne you'd see the choice he has is between lifting everyone elses trash off the street, cleaning toilets or benefits. Neither boosts the economy, neither creates a satsifaction, and neither provides alot to society. If you were in their schools what wud u choose?

oops if you were in their shoes what would you choose? :P People don't just become pregnant to get money, absolutely ridiculous. You lower the status of a family to a mere money relation. The aim of society should be to further emancipate women; give them a chance in the working world, not let the recession let them fall back in the 'conservative' role of being the housewife dependent on the 'breadwinning' male.

as a man who has been on benefits for over a year who has been seeking a well fulfilling job (that doesn't involve working on some bike path that the people in prison could have done a better job on) I feel too much focus has been put on getting people into work and not enough on getting work back into the country.
