  • @MrStrangeSensation When you're fiddling you're supposed to keep your fiddle dirty.

There is no violin in this thread, it has become a fiddle.

  • feeling..you've got to be kidding she played so beautifully it brought me chills

  • what tune?

  • @NickJerryJonas334 A lot of people play with their eyes closed once they learn the song. I also play all my instruments with my eyes closed since visual stimuli are usually nothing more than a distraction.

  • @harrypotterlvr08 an asinine comment from a child who looks like his balls are yet to drop pathetic!

  • We have uilleann pipes for that!

  • does anybody know what the reel is called? i would love to look it up to learn!

  • She sounds beautiful! Wish I could play half as good! Absolutely wonderful! I bet if her fiddle could talk, it would have some cool stories to tell. It looks really old.

  • Thanks for the advice Bourz : I do agree with you and love so much their High Reel version. Long life to NOIR HOUBLON!!

  • Good job! If you love it, must see the brand new band NOIR HOUBLON : something awesome you have to discover!!!

  • is she playing with her eyes closed?!?!?!?!?! o.O

  • In Soviet Russia the violin plays you.

  • @Firespore33 We have uilleann pipes for that purpose.

'Also from GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: Katie Boyle'

  • that violin looks ancient

  • @MonkeyKong21 She just needs to wipe off the rosin that has been accumulating for the last 20 years.

  • god damm tell her to clean her violin, idc how good she is, respect the Violin

  • Comment removed

  • @FERViolin2010 When I started playing, I learned to always clean my violin after whatever performance- class, private instruction, practice, show, competition... it's how I shift gears from music back to so-called reality. Cleaning in the middle only screws me up. Besides, a little rosin dust on the body seems to help the sound :-)

  • WOW das ist wundervoll

  • what piece is that shes playing? im thinking of learning how to play the fiddle again i used to know how to play it decently but its been many years

  • hehe, sick left hand :)

  • VIOLIN RULES!!! Greetings from Serbia, you should know that Serbs love Irish music, cuz we have the same roote, we play nice and fast music, and we can also play slow melodies with beautiful instruments! Orthodox Celts kill the public on every beerfest in Serbia with their irish music!!! (orthodox celts are a serbian irish music band)

  • Hi people Iam from Kurdistan,Iam discovering and studing Irish folk music focusing on Fiddling could you please recommend some pieces ; thank you vm

  • I've never seen such a piece utterly lack emotion. :\

  • So, so many fine young players are encouraged by CCE to learn about where music comes from. Are there any other countries with such schools to learn trad music? Always been impressed by the CCE videos.

  • unreal well done

  • @TheFun182 A fine job ...she can play in tune ...some of our better known fiddlers should copy ..very tuneful / nice variation/ no repetitve ornaments/good tempo.

  • it is esy to see the influences where we got our blue grass music from

  • girl you make me wish i could play as good as you,

    I need to practice.

  • GREAT!

  • Shar she can pley tha fiddle but caun she cook a meel?

  • @IamaRifle LOL!!!

  • @IamaRifle Sure she can play the fiddle, but can you learn to spell?

  • @IamaRifle I hope you are not a native English speaker. You managed to misspell almost every word in your sentence. Haha.

  • @Chikokishi PEOPLE LISTEN: the misspellings are to inflect an Irish accent. Read it the way it is spelled and it will sound down right Irish to you. As for spelling and grammar I have been firmly rooted in both so no worries here. (The first 4 thumbs up got it, can you?)

  • @IamaRifle Ohhh! Alright, i see what youre saying. Haha.. thats kind of funny now that i understand. Im just so used to seeing people leave pointless misspelled comments.. Occasionally i comment on the outrageous ones. =)

  • @Chikokishi et ish okaya I am be good at shpellin.

  • why dont these people ever go on britain got talent this is awsome and better then those stupid singer or dance crews they are jsut boreing now

  • this is great, and so is she. you can tell she's into it

  • everybody would think this is a beautiful sound but the pros would be able to hear some mess ups, even the slightest miss on a note to slow or to fast would be heard idk how but it's done.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that she is playing?

  • Wow... ! ! !

  • This is beautiful..why cant I find this music on the market anymore >:/

Anyone know of any gd Irish fiddle like music like this or even gd fast paced fiddling? Thanks in advance1

  • Needs more cowbell!

  • yeah trust me, u gonna want that cowbell on the track.

  • Anybody know the name of this reel?

  • mcCahill's =)

  • This style of music displays it's "emotion" through it's unique and very challenging ormamentation...as well as it's VERY tricky syncopation. This style of music (like bluegrass and old time) is MUCH harder to play than it sounds to the laymen.

  • This music is much better than it sounds.

  • very good!

  • Whats the name of the 1st tune? Lovely playing by the way!

  • This lady plays so much more than me, thats for sure.....and when I say "Fellin" I mean swing, or "Ginga", like we say here in Brazil... and you all, dont forget irish music IS FOR DANCING, not to show pretty good tunned notes..but again, i´m saying: this girls is pretty good playing wellplaced fingers and bow. I would like to have this technique like her.

  • My point is I hear it all to often from far too many people. "No feeling"? Have you played in front of a butt load of people before? In a small venue it's no big deal. You can be very emotive and intimate. When you're showing off you skills to a few hundred people it's a good idea to keep your quirks at bay and focus on technique. What do you consider "feeling" and how would you show that in a championship without looking proper?

  • I hear that "no feeling" thing all the time from musicians who feel they're incompetent. It's not a hoedown, it's a championship.

  • I have to agree with darkeelf, but you have point in that a competition is a place to show technical mastery. But really, feeling is in any style--and it can be especially so in celtic genres.

  • Lot of technique and no feelin

  • I would say you are only allowed to say "no feeling" when you are significantly better than this lady. As I doubt that you are maybe you should not be so critical of someone that clearly put alot of hard work into what she does.

  • I meant to press the thumb down button on this but accidently hit thumbs up. Sorry haha

  • cool 5 stars *****

  • Amazing

  • JAESUS BAI

    get it outta ye!

    5*

  • Wow, great stuff

  • I think her mum is mrs boyle...Great music!

  • amazing

  • Eh... Boyle? Is she in the same family as Susan Boyle?

  • Boyle is an incredibly common last name, so I doubt it.

  • hehehe

  • More likely Neillie Boyle! She has GOT that secret!

  • Where did she get her music?

  • Probably by ear

  • i fell in love

  • a few parts of this reminded me of the tune from the "beef, its whats for dinner" commercials

  • shes abit off on d "D" note,7/10

  • Comment removed

  • This is the "Boyle" that should be getting all the media attention...! ;-)

  • Who won that competition? =]

  • no she didn't get placed

  • Danú play this reel!!

  • Does anyone have any tips for fiddling? I am learning, but I'm not very good at ornamentation or anything.

    xxx

  • for cuts, slice the string, or tap it really quickly once

for triplets, dont jerk the bow, you pretty much just stop the bow suddenly

  • does anyone know if she got placed? =)

  • Brilliant! You have dancing fingers!

  • Excellent.

  • Hey. We love your fiddle and your music. We are both danish folk musicians. Great insperation - thanks.

  • sounds so much like the uilleann pipes doesn't it

  • Hey Great Playing! What kind of bow do you use? seems to be great for the embellishments.

    Cheers
