  • @doomofcthulu752 Nah some get defensive but only thing they can do to you is strike with their arms which could get you but it doesnt hurt but most are nice and friendly if you aproach them slowly and nicely, been cathing them forever in my yard and not one tryed to strike at me. I love them so peaceful and pretty

  • Mantis - "This is the Life.....Soft Protection...Warmness....Hand Fed....THE LIFE"

  • it looks like sheldon from the big bang theory

  • Googley eyes!!!!

  • The thing I don't like about mantises is that they move their heads and eyes independently, with most bugs they have to turn their entire body to look at something. Did anyone else notice the way it was staring at the person holding it? Freaking creepy!

  • Nim nim nim nim!

  • Nvm,just ate a grasshopper :)

  • My mantis isnt intrested in food at all! (Mantis religiosa) i found it 2 days ago...here are many of them in the wild in serbia.

  • thello dumkempe... Is that true that mantis are dangerous? I was told since I was a kid that mantis can cut your finger, what about that?

  • @CAMACORP The worst they can do is poke you, and most don't even have that capibility. They are harmless, have no vemon, and can rarely hurt you.

  • @CAMACORP They ARE dangerous..........to very small animals and insects. But to humans they are harmless.

  • So cute!!! :D

  • Better get it a placard

(the law cant do shit about killing a fucking insect lol)

  • @vxSMOKEYxv Your right, the law "its illegal to kill them because their praying" isn't true. HOWEVER, you still shouldnt kill them. Their quite helpful. But yeah, that law is phoney balony

  • Wow. Stupid arguments on this page. *wistles*

  • om nom nom :3

  • Comment removed

  • mine was molting and she is ok

  • Where i live its illegal to keep those...i saw a huge one today

  • @Pier2pie Oh no, it's not illegal to keep one if you buy it, only if you capture and keep it. If you were to buy one and keep it however, you'd be fine. I had some, but they went of old age. :-)

  • @MeglostweightwithDDR stupid people catch mantids all the time and keep them as pets look it up before you post i could go around and stomp on every mantid i saw and it woulden't be illegal PLUS do you really think if there was a law against it that the law enforcement woule even care??? murder or guy keeping mantid as pet hmmmmmm...

  • @Get2DChoppa

It is illegal to kill them but i agree, law enforcement wouldnt care at all.

  • @Xeno455 There is no law on the books anywhere that says it is illegal to kill a mantis.

  • @MeglostweightwithDDR You can catch them. Its not illegal at all.

  • wow it has pretty eyes lol

  • take the beetle larva, bath it in strong beer for 5 minuts, feed it to mantis and video the drunk mantis lol

  • dringing a beer

  • Awesome, I had a mantis (giant asian/hierodula sp.) which at 4th instar shed badly, couldn't walk or eat. So hand fed it and made sure it was attached to the ceiling of the enclosure when put away. As it shed, it actually grew back and healed the damaged limbs, pretty cool. Reached adult hood without any impairments despite having been crippled previously. I used tweezers though, it got pretty big :s

  • the pray mantis has preaty colors but...ITS SCARY!!!!!!

  • wow, Not all animals are going to be friendly...

so dont think its all cute fun...

  • lol u scared of a mantis that size ?

  • what is it eating?please tell me

  • a mealworm

  • I have this little fear of them cuz when i was young, one jumped at me and freaked me out.LMFAO.but now that i see that they can be quite cute,I want one too!!

  • Easy To Look After Just Get A Medium To Large plastic Cage Add A Couple Of Twigs And A few Plants And Wa-la perfect mantis habitat and also feel free to feed it bee's and wasp... they like them a lot

  • omg thats nice normaly they bite :O

  • sweet =] his eyes are blue thats pretty cool. wat is he eating a meal worm? mine usualy eats small brown crickets and grasshoppers lol. i tried to put a big grasshopper in but its too big for him right now

  • where did u get from

  • In the southern US, we find their egg cases in the winter, usually attached to small tree branches. Bring the whole twig home and put it in a SEALED terrarium (but with screen cover for air). Put some dirt, grass, moss etc in there and keep it fairly moist. At some point the case will rupture and about 200 mantises will sort of squish out of the case. It's amazing. Then you gotta feed them.

If you can't find a case, I think you can get them from Carolina Biological Supply. Great pets!

  • What happened to him?
