thats a crown of thorns, really cool color though, ive only seen them in a reddish orange. idk why you would want one its like a having a bundle of poisonous sea urchins that kill evrything. in there way.

There is one thing that can eat them. A Pseudocorynactis. It's a coral that looks like an anemone, and can pack a bigger punch that some anemones. I read about one eating one once when researching what the heck was in my tank.

But oh the irony, devoured by its own food source.

This starfish is called the Crown-Of-Thorns-Starfish, it is very poisonuos, the poison comes from the 1" long spines surrounding its arboral surface.

Yes and no. Starfish actually have one eye at the end of each arm, but these eyes aren't sophisticated enough to differentiate between much more than light or dark.

that's a beauty...crown of thorns literally rip corals right out of their stony fortresses and eat em. i think i saw on the coral reefs episode of "blue planet" a crab that lives in some coral's branches fights off these things.
