He can play so few notes, yet every one lays in EXACTLY the right place... like he's building a sturdy but cozy "home" for the rest of the band to reside in. (Or something. You know what I mean!) There are a handful of guys that can play "simple" QUARTER note beats -- mostly empty space -- but just make it melt in your mouth. I hate that some people blast Gadd (wow!). I've gotta give up the urge to try to "explain." If one doesn't hear it... ?
