@merajoga soccer moms, maybe, but women in generally are more democrat than republican by nature. If soccer moms are what's holding back american, independent and innovative women are what can push it forward.
I don't agree with Penn of some things but he made these two look like the fools they are. Seth Mcfarlene can barely stutter his way through a coherent sentence. And the Rachael Harris had her racists argument torn apart. And at the end was she mumbling that if you don't support the first black president your un-american? That's the problem some people they say not to focus on skin color or your a racist. But if someones dares to disagree with O'bama on policy then they are racist.
Seth Macfarlane - responsible for the absolute worst animated series in recent history. Harris? Well, she's kind of hot, doesn't really compensate for her lack of everything else. Penn has more credibility, rational, and intelligence than these three morons (that includes Larry King) compounded and squared.
Seth is a talented guy and I love him but he is a little lost.
If 60% of Americans want something unconstitutional then they should not get it. I'm sure 60% of Americans wanted Japanese Americans interned after Pearl Harbor. The should not have got that either. I wished someone filibustered that.

@Nic1700 The Tea Party is "preoccupied" with the matter, as you put it because they have a preconceived notion that American culture is Christian, largely of European or African descent, founded on British-Dutch principles from the 18th century, and display a solid distrust of government in any form. Can you really fault them for wanting to protect their cultural identity? Especially after seeing multiculturalism crash in Britain and Europe...
I don't think Seth is as left as people interpret him to be, only on issues that are typically front-page material like minority rights and religion. He's been on record saying he follows candidate's on a case-by-case, not just following the parties in total. He's not afraid to flip-flop if someone with better ideas comes along.
I've never seen Penn in a political discussion before, but I like how he doesn't back away from what he's saying, and will openly challenge things that he hears.
"Take our country back" take our country back from who.
Another example the tea party is racist is the fact that they started campaigning when there was no campaign season, all it took was having Obama as president.
But race is just one factor. The main goal of the Tea party is to separate the middle class by any means. The TEA party is founded by the 1%, they know the current sistem (15% tax on dividends) is unfair, and they try to convice stupid middle class people to keep it that way.
Let me take a crack at this seeing how tea baggers are patting themselves on the back for Jillette taking on an intellectual lightweight like Harris. The Tea Party does have certain element of racism in it. Not all of the tea party, but there is an element. Jillette also never addressed MacFarlane's assertion that large sections of the tea party are astro turf thanks to people like Dick Army and the Koch brothers.Granted it started grass roots, but it was hijacked by corporations. What say you?
@30JLETO The only reason right wings can is because their entire system is based on drilling specific ideals into peoples heads and brainwashing them. But the disorganization of the left is almost as unforgivable.
@MrDaemonic666 it's just liberals make a lot of assumptions and don't bother to look up facts. I'm not saying the right is perfect. There's only republican candidate I support in the presidential race. You can probably guess who hahaha. I go on about the people in the right, but the left is just pure comedy to me.
@30JLETO Theyre both absolute clowns haha, independant seems to be the only way to go, maybe if the entire country would stop picking sides before they even know the facts politicians would be forced to actually listen to the people and what they want (GASP! =0) Im pretty cynical but I do love the USA, the government just needs some clarity and perspective, George Washington believed that politicians are servants of the people, not their leaders, we need a couple thousand more like him IMHO
@MrDaemonic666 I'm gonna put it out there, I am a libertarian. So I have problems with people on the left and right. George Washington is the example all politicians should follow. He had the opportunity to be a king, like in England. But no, he served the people honorably and made it a tradition to serve two terms maximum, until the progressive FDR came along(starting to get off topic, sorry).
I lean to the left most of the time, but I don't mind conservatives. But we need more moderates in office instead of these extreme right wingers or these puppets for big business
haha "While bush wasn't the first black president!"
clearly that makes any problems republicans have with obama in a direct correlation with republican racism towards black people, and not the fact that republicans disagree with his politics....
Oh shit, the witty liberal just pointed out corporate corruption and the puppeted nature of parts of the tea party. The libertarian just said something heartfelt and well thought that criticized tea party concepts, but praised their mistrust of government. What am I going to say? I know, Ill call them racist, yeah, thats clever.
There are many things that I disagree with the tea party with. and there are many times I find them to be some of the craziest people in politics. However, they are NOT racist. There is nothing they have done or said that supports them as a racist organization. And if you are going to say that they are racist because there aren't many black members then you would have to say OWS are also racist since most of them are white.
yeah obama wasnt that great but look at the history neither was bush or clinton the best thing that the government can do right now is focus on just recovering the economy until thats fixed i think everything should pretty much be put on hold debaates on piracy and pro vs anti abortion are meaningless at this point they have been debated for the past 10 years and will still be debated for another 10
I love when Penn asks her to explain her accusations she, basically, has nothing to say and stumbles on her words. Typical political spotlight people in America. Left or Right they just throw names and accusations toward the opposite side without any evidence.
@vigil: She didn't stumble over her words-- Penn Jillette talked over her and then interrupted her as she was trying to answer his question to make the smug response that she thought the Tea Party was racist because they're white. It's pretty hard to answer the question of why you think a party might be racist, when the person asking you the question is intent on answering the question for you.
Penn Jillette is the master of the smug response and straw man. The Tea Party may be "skeptical" of the government but for all the wrong reasons. If he's going to suggest that the TP are cool because they do that, then by his logic we should admire Timothy McVeigh or the Black Panthers, too. BTW, there's plenty of evidence of the TP's racism. At an anti-Obama rally, why did they wear little Curious George dolls? Why do tkey keep confusing the difference between Muslims & terrorists?
Why do people put so much trust in government? Government kills people and could care less about you. This whole left/right thing is a fucking charade.
Hahahaha. Penn annihilates these imbeciles. Its no surprise to me that Seth McFarlane is a shallow thinker. Family Guy is the most overrated show ever.
Penn's words served as a sweet oasis among the vast desert of retardary and nonsensical ramblings provided by Seth and Rachel. Seriously... WHO ON EARTH WOULD EVEN CARE WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY ABOUT POLITICS!
It's true that once you say "Racist!" the debate is over. It's like a magic word that trumps everything. I don't know why, but it's true. And a lot of people actually believe that anyone who opposes the first black president is automatically a racist. That must have been the plan all along: Get a welll spoken black guy in office so he has the fail-safe defense from criticism because of his race. Sean Penn is the worst with the racist accusations, specifically against the tea party.
I was very anti Bush and now I'm very anti Obama. I saw problems and benefits with with both the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street. I like how Penn questioned the other two's bias. I never believed the Tea Party was a bunch of racists, and both the Democrats & Republicans have very wealthy people pulling strings behind the scenes. Always stay on guard when it comes to your government and use critical thinking, don't just follow what your political party is telling you.
The libs stutter every five seconds. "HE'S THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT AND THEY'RE WHITE, SO THEY MUST BE RACIST!!" They seem fucking retarded to begin with, but then Penn comes along and shits all over them.
Seth McFarlane and Rachel Harris are idiots who look at the D as a halo. Are all occupy wall street participants anti-semitic like the few that were shown in videos? Of course not, thank you Penn Jillette for educating these morons that drawing simple conclusions is a small-minded way of thinking. Also, McFarlane, just because you don't understand economics doesn't mean that the government trying to get more involved in health care is a good thing.
Hey Harris...i dont know who the heck you are, but anywho..I'm proud Tea Party, and wanted Allen West for president, and I hope he'll run in 2016. Dont call me racist, how dare you?? I dont even think Brian the liberal dog (Seth) would use his liberal platform to call me racist. Im not racist, and im sick of people like Harris pull out the race card, because "obamas the first black president". What would your excuse be if Biden had won in '08? Hes white, im white, and he's a moron like obama.
Penn is arguing with idiots. The tea party before it was hijacked by major Rep political whores(Not counting my Pres. Paul) spoke against Bush and Obama's policies. They say more about Obama, because he is still in office. Is that so hard. Turn of Fox, Msnbc, and grow a brain.
Wow, Rachel Harris did not make a single intelligent statement during that whole thing. It seemed like she simply saw the Tea Party as a mainly white entity and judged it as racist based off of that. That kind of blind judgement is really prevalent today and needs to end.
i'm an atheist - and i never really cared for what penn had to say about atheism - but i will say - he just kicked the shit out of both of those guys - and i know seth is an atheist, but he should probably strongly consider staying out of politics after what penn had to say.
There's a reason why RAND paul is the tea party leader - and there's a reason why FOX doesn't care about RON paul that much. because believe it or not - tea party is sick of both parties - as rand and ron both represent.
DON'T GET ME WRONG, THE TEA PARTY ARE HYPOCRITES WHO SAY THEY'RE AGAINST GOPERS BUT SUPPORT THEIR BG GOVERNMENT POLICIES ON SOCIAL ISSUES AS WELL. JUST SAYING, THE LEFT TAKE CHEAP SHOTS @ THEM. (SAME WITH RIGHT-WINGERS WHO CALL OBAMA A TERRORIST.)
@johnedwards1968 Most of the tea party people were not happy with Bush. When 0bama took office he sped up the spending drastically. Also, lots of the unpopular policies Bush instituted that infringe on civil liberties had an expiration date. That's not uncommon during wartime but people expect those policies to go away when the war is over. 0bama made those infringing policies permanent. They no longer need to be reinstated every 4 yrs. That's a gov power grab & those policies stay, war or not.
anti obama, thank god, someone sees how much he lies to your faces and doesnt follow through on what he says. who even let that dumb butch interrupt a great debate between penn and seth?
You mean greed and tyranny. Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini were greedy men. Our great capitalist demagogues always willing to deprecate socialism while profiting egregiously off the slave labor of those "socialist tyrants" they love doing business with.
Penn is a laissez faire capitalist, not a libertarian. I share Penn's distrust of government, but I trust capitalists even less. The "free market" is newspeak for plutocracy. Capitalists like to blame problems on "statists" without looking at the problems caused by greed. The government did not create the Penn State scandal--greedy people did. The University cared more about it's private commercial welfare than the lives of the children abused. That is a problem capitalists' never address.
@perdondaris What a silly strawman argument. No system is perfect but capitalism works and is more conducive to our ideals of freedom than any other. So thank you for wheeling out Penn State as an argument against capitalism. I'll see your Penn State and raise you Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Chavez, and Kim Jong Il. The difference being that there is no link between child abuse and capitalism and there IS a direct link between communism/socialism and oppressive tyrants.
Left-wingers are the biggest idiots this world has produced, just look at them and how they don't understand that someone that disagrees with their socialist jesus obummer isn't necessarily a racist
No, everyone who disagrees with us isn't a racist, but the majority of the people I've heard in the Tea Party movement over the last two years seem to be. Let me make it clear: I have only seen and heard these people in online videos, and I have one co-worker who is sympathetic to the movement (and leans towards racism himself in my opinion). But I think I've seen enough to form at least a general picture of this movement for what it is.
"Left-wingers are the biggest idiots this world has produced"
Curious then that the vast majority of the extreme intellectual elite suffer such "idiocy". Were you under the impression that the intelligentsia is largely comprised of conservatives, or even libertarians?
*chortle*
There is in fact a cap on how high the intelligence of a libertarian can possibly be; above a certain intellectual ceiling there simply is not a single one to be found (Nozick and Friedman stand inescapably below it).
@TheMarksmenCat Is that lady's name "Left-wingers are"? What you saw as a group people was really just one lady saying one thing. For all you know she could actually be intelligent most of the time. For all you know "left-wingers" whatever the hell that is, could, in general be a bunch of reasonable people who happen to respectfully disagree with your opinion.
@jonmichaeljordan And you've never seen a over the top "right winger" make his argument, and peers look like idiots? watch chris mathews, ed schultz, brian williams, and rachel maddow (among others) to see liberals tear apart one person at a time to make conservatives look like idiots. Theres no such thing as unbiased media (sadly), but if your gonna call me racist on national TV, i'd like your name or face to at least ring a bell.
@TheMarksmenCat As a liberal, I agree with you in that lots of people pull the race card too much. However, the Tea Party is something where an unbelievable amount of racist signs have been seen and racist things have been said. It's not just them though, there are plenty of politicians (usually Republicans) and public officials who have said racist things about Obama.
@TheMarksmenCat Obama is not a socialist, he is a liberal puppet bought and paid for by Wall St. Liberalism is not the same as Socialism either. Liberalism is the belief in regulation of markets as a means harmonize and perserve the capitalist. Socialism is the transition from capitalism in which the markets have been replaced by a planned economy. Socialists want to get rid of capitalism, while liberals want to perserve it.
@TheMarksmenCat So one Liberal on TV says something stupid that makes ALL left-wingers idiots? I'm a Liberal and I thought that she said was totally idiotic, just like I think your comment is idiotic. But do I think that ALL right-wingers are stupid because of you? No.
Now, contrast this with OWS, which is made up of intelligent, informed citizens, who ACTIVELY PURGES, DENOUNCES, DECRIES, and even BANS any and all racist bullshit and racist nutjobs, and they alao go after anyone legally who libels them saying otherwise.
Now why don't you see the TEAbaggers (again, they chose the name, not I) doing that?! Because they're either lazy, stupid, or scared of losing what is sadly a key demographic for them...and *THAT'S* what gives them the image of being racist.
... when you purposely attempt to attract a lot of mostly DUMB people to to your movement you'll get ALOT of people saying a LOT of dumb, terrible things...and the more ignorant and conservative one is, the more likely they are to be racist or bigoted (like towards Medicaid recipients, say) after all.
Also, ironically enough, the TEA Party doesn't seem to have the balls to publically dissociate themselves from FROM those racist elements, I think for the same reasons why those cowar
Now, the TEA Partymay not have been a racist movement, but it WAS endemic within the party. See, the TEA Party was pretty much *designed*, almost from the very *beginning* (once the astro-turfing started, anyway) to attract...mostly a lot of...un-intelligent, unknowledgable, undereducated (at least on the issues at hand) or otherwise unthinking people, (like many *OTHER* aspects of right-wing fantasy politics) and when you purposely attempt to attract a lot of mostly DUMB people to
But to say that race isn't a HUUUUUUGE factor _within_ the TEA Party would also be a lie. Look at OWS. Now THERE is a non-racist movement! See, the TEAbagger movement's (*their* name which *they* chose, NOT mine) BIGGEST problem is that they, as a group, are COMPLETELY UNWILLING TO DISSOCIATE themselves from those racist and WRONG elements within the party (which is highly pervasive for reasons i'll explain), and so, naturally, from the outside, they LOOK like a racist group.
Penn has a great mind. How I wish I could go on these shows and call out these idiot celebrities and corporate owned pundits. They continually talk out of the sides of their mouths. They can't back up any of their arrogant comments when asked to elaborate. Notice how Penn didn't resort to the common tactic of "you rip my people, I'll rip your people". He merely asked them to better explain what they say and they simply can't do it. Why? Because they have no mind of their own, just collectivists.
@CIRCLECIX That's not what he means, obviously there are racists in that group. If you get any large group of people together, there is always going to be a small percent that are assholes in someway. The whole tea party movement isn't about racism, a majority of them are conservatives who don't like the liberal spending. But there is racist assholes among them, but to say the whole movement is racist is fucking retarded
The Cleveland Brown character from Family Guy and the new MacFarlane produced spin-off The Cleveland Show is voiced by a white actor. How is that any different than the Amos and Andy show from the old radio show days of the 1930s and 40s?? MacFarlane is just a freaking idiot. I used to like Family Guy(and I still like the older episodes), but the newer episodes from the last few years seem to be more MacFarlane just using the show to promote his liberal ideas and bash people he disagrees with
Health Care Reform: Read kill off all the elderly and disabled. I was anti bush and they called me a terrorist. I am anti Obama and they call me a racist.
You gotta love how Penn challenges, and exposes as ridiculous, ever liberal assumption they have, about those they don't even know why they disagree with.
@Mortaryan I agree, Seth really shows what an idiot he is. He doesn't understand Matt and Trey and Penn calls him on it.(that part of the debate wasn't shown) This blonde bimbo is nothing but an airhead propagandist. Neither one of them can defend their ridiculous assertions when questioned about them, and end up looking like fools.
Penn is a terrible debater. He's real brave by himself, or with that little silent prick, but in a real debate, he clams up because he knows that he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.
Want to end a debate? Cry racism.

30JLETO 1 month ago
@30JLETO The only reason right wings can is because their entire system is based on drilling specific ideals into peoples heads and brainwashing them. But the disorganization of the left is almost as unforgivable.
MrDaemonic666 1 month ago
@MrDaemonic666 it's just liberals make a lot of assumptions and don't bother to look up facts. I'm not saying the right is perfect. There's only republican candidate I support in the presidential race. You can probably guess who hahaha. I go on about the people in the right, but the left is just pure comedy to me.
30JLETO 1 month ago
@30JLETO Theyre both absolute clowns haha, independant seems to be the only way to go, maybe if the entire country would stop picking sides before they even know the facts politicians would be forced to actually listen to the people and what they want (GASP! =0) Im pretty cynical but I do love the USA, the government just needs some clarity and perspective, George Washington believed that politicians are servants of the people, not their leaders, we need a couple thousand more like him IMHO
MrDaemonic666 1 month ago 3
@MrDaemonic666 I'm gonna put it out there, I am a libertarian. So I have problems with people on the left and right. George Washington is the example all politicians should follow. He had the opportunity to be a king, like in England. But no, he served the people honorably and made it a tradition to serve two terms maximum, until the progressive FDR came along(starting to get off topic, sorry).

I love when Penn asks her to explain her accusations she, basically, has nothing to say and stumbles on her words. Typical political spotlight people in America. Left or Right they just throw names and accusations toward the opposite side without any evidence.
vigil 2 months ago 56
@vigil: She didn't stumble over her words-- Penn Jillette talked over her and then interrupted her as she was trying to answer his question to make the smug response that she thought the Tea Party was racist because they're white. It's pretty hard to answer the question of why you think a party might be racist, when the person asking you the question is intent on answering the question for you.
atomicgirlnyc 2 weeks ago
Penn Jillette is the master of the smug response and straw man. The Tea Party may be "skeptical" of the government but for all the wrong reasons. If he's going to suggest that the TP are cool because they do that, then by his logic we should admire Timothy McVeigh or the Black Panthers, too. BTW, there's plenty of evidence of the TP's racism. At an anti-Obama rally, why did they wear little Curious George dolls? Why do tkey keep confusing the difference between Muslims & terrorists?

ToMockAKillingBird0 2 months ago
It's true that once you say "Racist!" the debate is over. It's like a magic word that trumps everything. I don't know why, but it's true. And a lot of people actually believe that anyone who opposes the first black president is automatically a racist. That must have been the plan all along: Get a welll spoken black guy in office so he has the fail-safe defense from criticism because of his race. Sean Penn is the worst with the racist accusations, specifically against the tea party.

Always stay on guard when it comes to your government and use critical thinking, don't just follow what your political party is telling you.

Yes, racist teabaggers got upset with Obama ( a black man) for doing the same things as Bush (not a black man).

johnedwards1968 3 months ago
@johnedwards1968 Most of the tea party people were not happy with Bush. When 0bama took office he sped up the spending drastically. Also, lots of the unpopular policies Bush instituted that infringe on civil liberties had an expiration date. That's not uncommon during wartime but people expect those policies to go away when the war is over. 0bama made those infringing policies permanent. They no longer need to be reinstated every 4 yrs. That's a gov power grab & those policies stay, war or not.

That is a problem capitalists' never address.
perdondaris 3 months ago
@perdondaris What a silly strawman argument. No system is perfect but capitalism works and is more conducive to our ideals of freedom than any other. So thank you for wheeling out Penn State as an argument against capitalism. I'll see your Penn State and raise you Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Chavez, and Kim Jong Il. The difference being that there is no link between child abuse and capitalism and there IS a direct link between communism/socialism and oppressive tyrants.

@TheMarksmenCat
But I think I've seen enough to form at least a general picture of this movement for what it is.
jerico641 3 months ago
"Left-wingers are the biggest idiots this world has produced"
Curious then that the vast majority of the extreme intellectual elite suffer such "idiocy". Were you under the impression that the intelligentsia is largely comprised of conservatives, or even libertarians?
*chortle*
There is in fact a cap on how high the intelligence of a libertarian can possibly be; above a certain intellectual ceiling there simply is not a single one to be found (Nozick and Friedman stand inescapably below it).

@jonmichaeljordan And you've never seen a over the top "right winger" make his argument, and peers look like idiots? watch chris mathews, ed schultz, brian williams, and rachel maddow (among others) to see liberals tear apart one person at a time to make conservatives look like idiots. ericNsarah2010 2 months ago
@TheMarksmenCat As a liberal, I agree with you in that lots of people pull the race card too much. However, the Tea Party is something where an unbelievable amount of racist signs have been seen and racist things have been said. It's not just them though, there are plenty of politicians (usually Republicans) and public officials who have said racist things about Obama.
deutschland08fn 2 months ago
@TheMarksmenCat Obama is not a socialist, he is a liberal puppet bought and paid for by Wall St. Liberalism is not the same as Socialism either. Liberalism is the belief in regulation of markets as a means harmonize and perserve the capitalist. Socialism is the transition from capitalism in which the markets have been replaced by a planned economy. Socialists want to get rid of capitalism, while liberals want to perserve it.
