Singapore Airlines is probably the most important airline in Star Alliance. Why do you think SIA star alliance scheme on their planes is different compared to the other members. The SIA name and title is very important, so SIA had to keep their logo. Star Alliance had to oblige SIA because Without SQ, there will be a huge void on the Aust & NZ routes. Other star alliance members rely on SIA more then SIA rely on them. True, it was a book called flying high with SIA.

Without a doubt Lufthansa is the Dominant Player in STAR.....and let's not forget it. LH was one of the founding members and even though other airlines were instrumental in bringing STAR to fruition, there are over 21 airlines that make STAR the BEST Alliance. SIA is certainly distinct and well branded but they certainly are NOT the KINGPIN of this alliance.

I had a layover in Seoul for over 9 hours and I thought I would have to wait at the airport for 9 hours, but they gave me a choice of a hotel or a city tour and I decided to go on a city tour of Seoul because it was my first time in the country. They took me to the Presidential Palace, an ancient palace, and another ancient palace, then we went shopping and had a free and terrific bulgogi lunch. Even in Economy, I was treated like first.

No wonder Asiana is a 5-star airline.
