  • i wish they had a capoiera school here in savannah,ga,,,id clean floors or whatever just 2 pay my way lol...i love this style...very beautiful and fluid

  • Positive Vibrations from Rio de Janeiro Brazil!!!!

    Valeu!!!

  • Acho que aquela segunda menina fez o melhor. Aquela de calcas azuis e 'Brasil' na bunda. Muita foda ela!

  • catecapoeira (worst fighting system ever)

  • maybe u perverted psychopaths will think twice about stalking a girl after u look at this

  • Paranaue Paranaue Parana :)

  • Inspiring :) Beleza!

  • as meninas todas DUronas jogo feio

  • These girls are students and are doing a great job! Capoeira is not for the weak! It takes a huge amount of dedication and many years and if you may never look like the pros you see. Everyone starts just like the girls here and it takes years! Eventually, students fall in love with the art and it becomes your lifestyle. Trust me, I know :)

  • From what I gather from reading about it, it is a true mixture of dance and fighting. It's not one or the other. I assume they're going this slow because they're sparring? I've seen faster fights, and although they always seem to be unguarded, they're also constantly moving so their opponent has to be a lot faster and more accurate to hit them. They can also take hits and turn them back onto their opponent. It looks cool, and it does waste a lot of energy, but it can be deadly.

  • i dunno...looks kinda awkward. but i also dunno how long you've had practice

  • I have seen Capoeira used in a real fight, just type in Capoeira MMA, or Jean Silva. This roda was tame and these were not pros doing it. There are roda's that look more like MMA fights with Gingas.

  • Well, yeah! There are different styles. You've probably seen Bataque style if i'm not mistaken. Just from what bits of research i've read, it is a more aggressive, fighting style of Capoeira.

  • Also, title of song being sung at 1:02. Any assistance would be great!

Oh and what is meant by the term "Salve"?

  • This song is probably one of the easist and most basic songs. It's just sim sim sim, nao nao nao! Yes yes yes no no no!

Salve, in it's simplest meaning would just be a salute. Salve meu mestre. A notion of respect. In our school we begin and end every class with our hand on our heart and salute the teacher with a "salve" to signify that class is officially running.

  • What is the title of the song being sung in beginning? That's one of the songs we sing where I study and would like to learn the lyrics.

  • It's called Sao Bento me chama. There's more lyrics online but here's some:

    Ai, ai, ai, ai

    São Bento me chama

    Coro: Ai, ai, ai, ai

    São Bento chamou

  • yo kiero aprender capoeiraaa..porq no hay escuelas en san luis???

  • I have noticed all that as well, and not to mention the fact that they must waste alot of energy simply by doing the Gingi. All that aside, pros at this look awesome.

  • Btw, I am in no way implying that the people I saw in this video are pros, they don't even compare to the native Brazilians I saw do Capoeira.

  • hmm... I dunno is this a martial art or a dance? It doesnt look like an effective way to defend urself.

  • As far as I know Capoeira is more a dance than a figthting style, but you can use it aggresively though.

  • That can be lethal bud!

If they pick up speed you can pretty bad

    injuries with those kicks.

There are more videos about it check it

    out.

  • Capoeira is too circular for a good UFC fight. Most of what people want to see in a cage fight is head-on fighting, not spinning for position. while great and very athletic to accomplish well, it lacks an attraction that other martial arts dominate. It just needs a little boost to be more 'cage' popular.

  • Who wants capoeira going UFC??

Capoeira is also a philosophy of life

not really to used as martial art.

  • UFC isn't everything man, UFC has fights with rules. It's different on the streets, Capoeira is dirty and dangerous which is why it was outlawed in Brazil long ago. Chuck Liddel can't win every fight cause he is a champion, so don't disrespect another martial art.

  • With the explosion of MMA and UFC, why hasn't capoeira been represented like Jiu-Jitsu or wrestling?

  • There were a couple of guys who have done Capoeira in the UFC, but as a fight, Capoeira is incredibly difficult to learn and apply. And since you can't break arms or legs in a sports competition, which many of those kicks are designed to do, it puts Capoeira users at a big disadvantage since they can't use their primary techniques.

To be honest, other martial arts are just easier to use in a UFC type setting. I am NOT saying Capoeira isn't effective, just more far complicated.

  • yes. capoeira has benn in vale-tudo fights. But the quality of it in a fight depends upon the fighter´s quality. Actually, Amaury Bitteti - great jiu-jitsu fighter - was defeated by Mestre Hulk, from capoeira in a vale-tudo championship in Rio, in the earli 90´s.

  • This art takes Rhythm Talent and Alot of hard work..its not compared to BBJ because..its completely diffrent and a diffrent part of Brasils history of Martial arts

  • i like capoeira, although i don't practice it myself, i like sports like this, because it really shows what a deadly weapon your body is

  • I just realized that capoeira is a good way to learn how to dodge. There is a group that trains nearby here in Iowa I'm thinking about giving it a whirl, but it's at the same time as my hapkido class. DECISIONS

  • You just nailed it. I can tell you are a true contemporary Martial Artist, because your mind is open and your looking for things that work. It's important to strive for expertise in our base art, but not be afraid to incorporate useful techniques that work. Years ago I added Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques to my base art of Chinese Kenpo. The results were a MMA 24-1-1 record. In Capoeira, I see similiar footwork and 'dodging' that's used by Monkey Axe Kung Fu fighters..

  • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

  • BBJ? wtf?

  • BJJ WOULD be a great fighting style were it not for the overwhelming HUBRIS of it's practitioners!

  • Thanks for your comments guys!

  • capoeira is an art and something to enjoy. thats why so many like it becuase its a game of fighting everyone is there to train and fight. no one is trying to show off or out do someone. its all fun. thats why i have been in capoeria for 4 yrs now. i have been in other martial arts for 15 yrs but capoeria is by far the most enjoyable

  • Awesome vid, you guys are pretty good. Would love to learn capoeira.. Im going to Brasil soon so i hope i'll start there :) Keep it up guys, One Love!

  • street fighting works wonders less flips and its faster instead of dancing about

  • Lol, true, but this is still pretty fun to watch.

  • Martial Arts are no longer made to fight. Back in 18 century capoeria(Brazil), karate(Japan), muay thai(Thailand), tae kwon do(Korea), savate(France), Kung Fu(Chine),and every kind of martial arts were made to war, and believe they worked deadly, but know its just for 'fun', cuz there a difference between fight, and know how to fight, kick, and know how to kick.

  • Taekwondo did not exist as a style in the 18th century. It was officialy founded in 1955. It is a descendant of a much older style called taekkyeon.

  • Judo comes from Juu dou, that comes from jiu jitsu that comes from jujutsu, that comes from bushido, so, I think u got my point, I talked about the well now styles nowadays, it would be dumb say the exactly origins names, or how they were know in the 18th century..

    []'s

  • great fun, keep it up, thanks!

  • If you need Criticism... whell you werren't really good then :/ but you said that the video is really old then i believe that you can do much better now, and mayabe your pro's now :D

  • this was a good video. it looked like you guys were having fun

  • vaya rollo

  • Hi, we are Filhos da Bahia in Sydney. PS this video is really old and we have been training hard since then. No criticism required!!

  • i think you guys are pretty good...I mean you guys were beginners right?? Yellow, green rope...I really like this vid..and think you guys are good.. I wish I could be were you guys were at in the ronda...I'm just a beginner!! : (

  • wt capoeira school is that ???

  • wow i'd like to take some capoeira classes...but in my opinion you guys use alot of leg techniques (so do i)

  • Hey thanks for your comment piseth7.

Capoeira was originally a useful and succesful martial art. Many African slaves in Brazil successfully fought and gained their freedom using their capoeira skills. Nowadays it has transformed into more of a cultural practice and continuation of this Brazilian history, however you will find that many people do practice a more contact-style capoeira, and it's very commonly cross-trained with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Hope this clears up your view of capoeira!

  • i hate the fact that the dont make physical contact... how is that suppose to b useful if they dont make physical contact

  • I think your moves are really precipitate, you should slow down and try think through what you want to do and how. Your jinga is one of the worst what I have ever seen, so practice it for a while.

  • wow!

  • I wish our class was that big...ours only has 15 people and we meet in a Gymnastics center... we scare all the little girls by flying all over the place lol...BTW your gym doesnt make you all match(pants wise)?

  • Good energy! Where in Sydney was this? One of the girls was wearing a Filhos da Bahia shirt. I remember Mestre Val, Nei, Dinho, Alfredo, and Jorginho. They have really nice people in their grupo.

  • Hey thanks Mattrixx! We ARE Filhos da Bahia :P Where are you from? Thanks for your comment.

  • are they playing around or are they

    noobs XDD

but you know its still good!!

  • You girls rock! Wish I could do that, I tried after watching the video and fell down on the dog food. I always thought girls would be better at it since they are usually more flexible.

  • Capoeira is not for fighting. But don't worry, it's a common misconception with ignorant people.

  • Capoeira is for fighting as well...why do you think Bimba created Luta Regional Baiana? The first word, luta, means fight. Capoeira can still be used to fight. If it was not for fighting, why was capoeira created for? Entertainment? Art for arts sake? I'm interested to see how other groups feel on the subject since there's a disparity. -Lagarta (Capoeira Brasil-AZ, USA)

  • Omg YOU are dumb! Can't you read! I just told everyone to keep their negative comments to themselves! PS we don't wanna fight, so we're not gonna do jeet jun do, but thanks for the suggestion. Now please don't leave any more posts.

  • gostam de capoeira , bom isso é brasil !!!

  • After all the negative comments posted on this video, and you still chose to leave another one! Constructive criticism is always welcome, but not comments that aren't helpful to the students.

  • the first girl to leave the roda had a BAD armada...

  • OK THEN, BRAZIL HERE I COME!

  • Does anyone know where you can learn capoeira in the U.S? If you do please tell me I wanna so learn this! And if no one knows then I'll just have to move to Brazil!

  • lol i guess ur movin to brazil

  • Actually as I wrote before, the US has more groups than any other country...

  • the girl with blue trousers is really good. respect!

  • Eventually they will have enough of there beatens, salvery, etc and fight their masters. To make the fights interesting the slave masters and their bullies could use whips and some kind of boxing.

  • They would then talk, saying to each other that they need to be able to teach themselves self defense but that they will get punish, killed if they are scene practicing that. Someone could bring up the idea of them disguising with their dancing and tribal moves, adding music to amke it look like a dance!

  • I wish they would make a movie about the roots of capoeira, showing you in the begining slaves from africa being captured, sold into slavery and shipped to brazil. From there it would show them getting beatin up by there owners, and falling to escape.

  • this doesnt look like its a real fighting art , more like really awesome coordination dance

  • Its a bit of both really. I first could sight of how devastating Capoeira can be used against Tony Jaa in Warrior King.

Capoeira isnt just a fighting style or a dance, its an art form that was beautifully created. I just wish I could follow a rythm so I could learn this

  • Awesome, I like watching capoeira. and NO it is not retarded. I wanna learn. I may never be PRO, but I still wanna learn.

  • good work. Just wondering was this in the U.S

  • Hi sg500 I appreciate all non-derogatory comments! :) No, we are from Sydney, Australia! You?

  • my god alonsoromance your the RETARD.. if youve been a capoerista for years then you should have known that not all capoeristas are in the same level...Dont you think they just started?? and yes you do have a point they have a long way to go. and by the way Capoeira is for everyone and i dont know why it chose a jerk like you.

You go girls keep up the good work!

  • Totally! Thanks Tonette for your comment. Slow people like BELOW make me laugh. You're putting the art of capoeira to SHAME if you say you're a capoeirista yet bag people who are trying to learn. Hey, why don't you step up and post a video of yours so that people can criticise you too? And if you missed it, in my description, I asked for all negative comments to be kept to yourself!! Wake up man!!

  • hola porfavor quien sabe donde esnseñan capoeira en perú???? hace tiempo quiero aprender y practicar capoeira

  • girls are tricky in the roda, different than guys. Its a different danger to play a girl.

  • Thanks everyone! This was a long time ago and we're all still training hard! :P

  • Excellent :)

  • Belleza! keep it up!

  • Are you SERIOUS?! Racist, derogatory comments are neither welcome nor funny!

You are SUCH an embarrassment to Norway or India or wherever you think you're from.

  • why do you hate blacks? because they are better than you? ;D

    your sad (;

  • Most likely - that generally tends to be the case :P

    Poor silly sod.

  • Awesome :)

  • It's always nice to see a fellow capoeirista embrace the beauty that is capoeira regardless of race, creed or gender. Keep up the good work!

    "Jogo bonita que quero ver!"

  • Thats a cool form of martial arts, thanks for posting.

  • Thank you for your constructive criticism.

I am glad that you are against rasicm and support the spreading and of "your people's" culture.

    Have some respect.

  • "your people's" ... are you brazilian? I hate when people who don't know about the art claim it because they think "black people invented it."

A: Notice all the terms are in Portuguese... not any african language?

B: Not all black people were slaves in brazil.

C: I'm irish. My people were enslaved by the british way longer than yours. Shut up about it already...

  • Dude how about you STFU i am Brazilian born and raise so when i mean my people is beacuse is my people so how about u shut ur dumb irish ass and go drink yourself to sleep and i speak Portuguese not some African language

  • So, if by "my people" you mean "brazilians"... what's with being so opposed to people practicing it who don't look like they're from south america? Do you get mad when you see black people doing capo? It's a regional art, not a racial one.

About me drinking myself to sleep... I think I will. ;)

  • Cheers, mate :D

  • yo tambien quiero aprender!!! is it hard to learn???

  • The girls are doing well.. very well... remember it requires a lot of practice..

    I Liked it a lot...

  • woah this clip is old.. lol

i can see myself n sumeet.. before i got a uniform.. lol.. and weirdo is there too

    cool clip :D

    --Tocador

Besides , I saw much better as well , but they were once not too hot as well.

anyway , cu girls around, yeah .

  • WELL who said everything on Youtube had to be the best? What is your point anyway?

  • Don't worry about these nuggets your having fun and learning right. Well then. Most of these youtube warriors are desk geeks anyway that are just making our population fat with lack of exercise and all day post whoring.

  • Yeah what's with all the dissing on you tube? People are so 'passionate' and love to pick your faults! :P Thanks for the comment.

  • No worries, i do capoeria also just for leisure also Brazilian jujitsu. Nice video keep up the training.

  • i saw much much betters... but they tried that... so congrulations...
