  • Casey, you've got a place in Taiwan to unwind and relax, maybe do a bit of kitesurfing if you ever want. Thanks for shedding light on what is happening in iraq.

    Repect

  • excellent video thanks IVAW

  • To be clear, IVAW did NOT make this film, I did. I have also left IVAW. But I am glad you liked it. Thank you.

  • I remember this day...

  • I am a combat veteran. 3rd ranger C 2-2 out of Ft. Benning. I joined in 1991, had osut, airborne then straight to RIP and Ranger. Went on the long drive. 1993 the Mog, walked around a airbase for a few weeks in Kosovo, 2003 battle of Haditha Dam, caught shrapnel.. convolesent leave @ walter reed... tried to get out (had gotten married) after my lengthy service record, PH, BS w/ valor e-8 in a e-9 slot i got stop-lossed as well. Cost me my wife, my business and my faith in country.

  • I'm really sorry that happened to you.

  • but for every 1 elevenbravo, there are 1000 others who don't lose faith in country. special ops and marriage often are in conflict and often operators' marriages don't last. i hope you can find your faith in the US again elevenbravo. sorry about the marriage!

  • I am a Veteran of OIF. I was at Rustamiyah as well. I was in a LOB Bomb attack on 11/18/2007. They are no joke. A piece of an engine piston hit the building I was in 75 meters away. I believe 16 hit us that day before Apache's and an Abrams waxed it. I can say this video is true and just and is not swayed to one side. Thank you for the posting.

  • Thank you for leaving the comment.

  • End this shit and bring our guys home.

or at the very least give em somthing better to work with!

  • But on the other hand, your videos do seem to have some quality(emphasis on some), and you bring up good points but I think before you make a lot of bold statements, maybe do more research.

  • I just looked at the info posted by poster and then the video and it looks to me like plenty of research has been done and this is just one video that you can see the truth of a soldiers life. Our media spun this war for George W. Bush like it was a field trip for everyone that was going and the media was invited. Then after about a month of real war it got to real and people started to think about it so what? The media stops covering the war and still they barely speak a word of it.

  • Thank you. Yeah, I like how people always tell me my facts are wrong, but never point out why they are wrong. no one has yet to punch a solid whole in any of my films when it come to the facts in them.

  • What is the music in this video?

  • pitbrand and casey, what I mean about research, is some of the statements at the end, where the spec is talking about rustamiyah becoming a future duty station, sorry if I did not make my self clear.

  • I myself was at FOB Rustamiyah from 06-08, and can attest to the shittieness of the area and the constant barrage of Indirect Fire. Hence the nick name Rocket-a-Meyah, so yah.. But I don't agreee with IVAW though, seeing as you joined the army...why? I joined to fight....so I'd have to be a fucking moron if I joined and didn't want to goto war...If you don't agree with war, don't join the military, simple as that.

  • Fair enough, but I was not against the war until I went to Iraq my first time. I am also no longer a member of IVAW, but still against the war.

  • what kinda of music is this ? what langauge? its not arabic not english

  • lol ok ok sorry for being such an ass hole to your little anti war soldier, I just think he is a punk bitch. No I would not try to kill him, I like to kill Iraqis not Americans. RvaG60 what the fuck are you talking about soldiers dressing like terrorists. I've been there 2 times never seen that shit. Idk maybe I am just some stupid Infantry guy if you know something that I dont that I should feel bad about tell me.

  • The people back home want you all here with us, beleive it man.

  • Good on ya, Casey & IVAW. I've got your back, as do many others. usatxg & the like? Let 'em talk their trash. There are plenty of vets like me who will gladly school them properly if given the opportunity. Chairborne rangers with no guts, and definitely no brains.

  • usatxg, you sir, are a fucking loser. go stick another dick in yer ass and tell yourself you matter again. What's that, You don't matter? oh, that's right...your just a fucking number. I bet your one of those traitor soldiers dressing up like terrorists and killing our own soldiers just so you can fucking say there is still a war going on. GTFO my internets

  • Casey, God bless you, brother. Thank you for everything that you do. You are the definition of a true American patriot. Take care and God bless.

  • The american people DO NOT want this! The elite BANKERS DO. Stop the madness. Support the troops ... BRING THEM HOME! myspace/masonrodgersband

  • Why? Got something on your mind?

  • for what its worth, usatxg, casey's back is well covered.

  • Threatening your brothers/sisters that are fighting for truth and have a different point of view does not make you right or strong.

They add fine print in contracts because they know we don't read fine print. That is why it is there, so we don't read it. Next time you see fine print in a contract online copy and paste the whole thing to a notepad and you'll see its not as big as it appeared and much easier to read. Fine print is intentional. Stop loss for a wrong war is a double negative.

  • In a time of great deception, only the strong will dare speak the truth.~ me

  • I wish that the media was really showing.... what is really going on in Iraq

    Thank you for posting

  • The War in Iraq is completely unnecessary and irrelevant to Americas freedom, not to mention the fact that its going to cost over 2 trillion dollars, how can any one argue that we stay there?

The war I agreed to fight is not the war I was sent to.

  • How dare you say something like that to him? Just because he has the balls to speak out? Fuck you!!!! Fucking infantry guys really have no brains...you can't even fucking spell victim....assclown!

  • I feel for you, though I have no idea what you've been through.

I never served, but I do a lot of construction at Ft. Richardson and Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. I can't wait to see to see the new housing we helped build be filled by returning troops.

    Obama '08

  • Hello Casey Sir,

Just wanted to say: "Thank you Sir" for all your doing keeping our home lands (safe and free!). If it wasn't for people like you, and those who gave there lives, we wouldn't have the very freedom now under the flag we fly.. God Bless all of you, come home safe..

Seek and ye shall find, "The Brave".

    EZ.

  • Wow, I didn't think things could get more complicated with the insurgency's knowledge of home-made explosives since I left Iraq, but I'm wrong.

Great posting, Casey. Hope you and all your bros come home in one piece soon.

  • OK, I'll be the third person to ask: What is that song at the beginning and end of your video?

  • It's called "She Began To Lie" and can be found on the soundtrack for The General's Daughter.

  • keep it up casey, stay safe, and come home soon.

  • Casey, I am so proud, thankful, and hopeful that active duty service members are speaking out. I'm IVAW in Savannah GA and I'm waiting patiently for these 3ID troops to get back here so we can get them in the fight. Angleboot, I think you are a disgrace. And how about that service history? I am thankful though that you are so obviously ignorant that you running your mouth will only push people our way. But much respect to you Casey, I hope we meet some time. Peace

  • Thank you very much for those words. I blocked Angelboot so we will not be hearing from him anymore.

  • my husband is seen in the video and I just didn't want seen in a bad light.

  • We talked about it tonight. I don't think anyone is really going to notice him. You can't see his name at all. No one would have known who he is unless some said something. I guess that someone was you. It's cool that you added the video to your favorites. Thank You!

  • ok so I watched this vid and I'm not going to debate it I just want anybody watching it to realize that not all of the soldiers in the video are part of the IVAW nor are all of them against the war.....but I do want you all to come home safe

  • I like Tankers, I work hard so they can stay safe in whatever they ride around in. Do you know someone in the video? There really is only one Soldier at the end. True, not all Soldiers in this video are members of IVAW or are against the war. Take care and thank you for the comment.

  • Thank you for all the comments. WE would love to see more action on the part of people back home, to help bring us home. Wait until you see the next video, talk about places you don't want to be.

  • Hey I just want to assure you Casey that we are trying. Guess what? They do not listen to us. I truly believe we are in a different era in the US. I won't expand on that but I think you know what I mean.

  • Casey,

I just want to tell you, or I guess apologize, that there is enough anti-war action going on here state-side. If people choose, and they don't have family members in service, can completely ignore the fact that there is an Iraqi war/occupation. This does not make me proud to be an American. I will try to do more and connect with efforts to bring you GIs home. Stay safe. Solidarity and Peace.

  • Thank you, I hope more people pull together.

  • total disgusting to see what kind of shithole this country became due to "shockandawe", illegal occupation and a decade of genocidal "UN" sanctions...

    btw :

    HMMWV is total crap anyway

  • I hope that soldier reads my words. No this isn't what the American people want. We want you home! We here are both veterans here and we never fell for Bush's garbage. We knew right away why were were going over there. And to watch the idiots call us unamerican because we were against it and then we'd ask them "have you served?" and watch their faces when we said "we did, come on I'll take you to the recruiting office." They shut up real quick. We want you home! Remember this.

  • Hey monymizer, i was the soldier interviewed in the video, and i just wanna say thank you, for showing genuine support for us. You have no idea how much it means to people here like casey and i. Keep up the faith guys, this problem we call a war cant be ignored forever. Thank you.

  • I'm glad you saw what I wrote. There are some out here who understand the true cost of what is happening. We realize that they are using our children for their gains. They wreck the economy so the poor and middle class kids who can't go to college are forced into the military, while their kids stay home. We think about you all everyday. I realize some join for other reasons but most are economic reasons. Good luck to you. Are you still in?

  • The areas shown in this video seem like some of the last places on Earth I would ever wish to find myself.

The whole feel of the place is so foreign and strange that I almost feel detached from reality while watching this video.

I just don't think that people fully understand what you guys are going through over there, I don't think I fully understand.

Videos like these are helpful though and it's clear to me that you guys deserve to come home.

  • I saw you on Democracy Now. Thanks deeply for what you are doing. It takes a extaordinary person to speak out while being deployed there. We need more like you.

I have been working here to stop the war. It's heartbreaking to know that we have decimated a country(countries)and so many of our troops. We are doing our part here and it is good to see you doing yours, but we need to do more.

  • Casey J Porter,

I just saw your interview on Democracy Now.

    Well spoken!

Thank You for your courage, strength, truthfulness and talent.

  • Hey Casey, Garrett from IVAW-LA, Just wanted to say your videos are getting better, they really convey the bleakness and futility of what its like. Stay strong and keep dropping the videos.

  • Great work Casey. as long as you keep speaking the truth you will always be free.

Peace and much love Anita (soldiers mom)

  • We are only numbers. We outnumber them. They are the few..the elite..the old...the powerful..just how long are we to keep this up??? The new generation needs to wake-up to this OLD tired game...There are NO sides..no good against bad..only money and power..you are produkt...disposable and renewable.

  • And about "hacking it." I dont need your macho jock football attitude to question my love for this country. Trust me,i can "hack it,"because instead of shit-bagging out and just pissing and moaning like you think i am, im taking a stand for my beliefs and utilizing the rights that i,along with my brothers in arms, fight and die for. You should try it once Angelboot, because instead of being a product of the system, try to take afew steps back and ask "why?" once and a while. Its good for your soul.

  • Go get 'em! I can't stand people that support the troops, just as long as those troops don't speak out and tell the truth and force people to change their backwards opinion on this war. Notice Angelboot has not told us about his combat time. Very interesting, Mr. Bond!

  • I could not agree more with you. Overall nice job CaseyJ.

  • speaking out and total disrespect for America are two different things. You make people wonder what the hell kind of servicemen the US has that aruges every order given them. Guess todays Army don't teach discipline anymore. The all new Army, the full of whining brats that are all touse to getting their way. What's next a video of you laying on the floor kicking your feet and screeming. "I want a tank not a Hum-V."

it'll be another video of what condoms were made for.

  • angelboot, now that you've totally crossed over from a decent debate to being a 3 year old boy, i'm not going to even engage in a converstaion with you anymore. And in actual irony, being a Tanker in the Army, driving a HMMWV (Humvee, cause you cant spell), yes, i actually would like my tank back. But regardless, you obviously lack the intelligence, military knowledge, and actual facts for me to even conisder you to be over the age of 14.I may have lied earlier..maybe people like you shouldnt think. :)

  • It's clear from the total dodging of my questions the this clown has never been in combat. He's a joke. But now he has crossed the line and is lashing out. That is why I have the all mighty Block User button.

  • Nice work!

  • Iraq is a horrible place, not one person there is worth our time or money, IVAW all the way brother, I just wish more people would wake up and see the truth, Obama for President or God help us all

  • Ok so check it out.

I'm the guy at the end of this video (hey Casey, you fuckin hippie hehe) so let me clear some of this up, just for GP.

Im not here for a handout. I love my country, and regardless of how this war is handled i will accomplish the mission. What you fail to realize is that these "bleeding hearts" you guys love to bash have more courage because we speak our mind. I defend the constitution and i think that if you wont exersize your first amendment right, than you are the coward.

  • I dont understand why you are complaning about the contractors so much. I mean jesus christ, where do you think the vast majority of them come from? Most of the were ex military, and have been through all the same ****.

I really just don't get people who join combat arms and complain about how everyone has it better than them.

  • Actually, there is a very high number that have never been in. Also, most of them that where in were never in during a war, or have seen combat. Have you ever been over here?

  • That is all irrelevant anyway. The real issue is that the companies doing the contract work have political clout and are helping to perpetuate this war for the purpose of enriching themselves.

  • OK name me once in US history the Army payed better the troops than the contractors. Never.

Now compare the armorment they have vs what the enemy has.

JoeyDkid that's is why the news makes out like the USA is getting our ass kicked pretty bad. So many young kids that was allowed to argue with their parents and not do as they are told when they are without whineing about it. If you can't hack it, get out. But i don't think you should be allowed not one benefit for dis'ing the country.

  • ??? That isn't even coherent. I have no idea what you are saying. Try again.

  • Hey never "dised" the country, at all. Listen, lets stay on topic with the fact and the exact comments made in the video. I like an open debate, but do NOT sling personal insults at my friends.

  • Further more, you have no directly answered my questions about your military history. Are you a combat vet?

  • Angleboot, the last time i checked nobody in this column or video said anything close to "the USA is getting their ass kicked." This is country was founded on speaking out and revolution, and if you cant bring yourself to want to know why things are the way they are and crave change than i dont know what to tell you.I wasnt "allowed to argue with my parents"i was taught to question what i did not understand. I didnt "disobey"i built a strong foundation of morals to help me make choices in my life.

  • You are an ass. Where did you get your education? Reading your posts is like trying to decipher what an eight year old is writing.

It galls me to no end that these contractors are in Iraq or any war. It galls me that they are allowed to make a profit off of the blood, sweat and tears of our soldiers and the civilians. Where is the support of our troops at home? Lies perpetuated the need for this war. Lies are killing our honorable men. Lies are lining the pockets of the rich. It makes me sick.

  • Sorry, my comment was directed at ANGLEBOOT, in case anyone was wondering.

  • I found your channel from your interview on Democracy now! I enjoyed the work you put in the video. What is the name of the song?

  • Per Hum-V days, APC's and open jeeps.

As for the contractors making more money. You didn't check out the pay scale before joining? When I joined I made more as a fry cook at 17. I don't have to insult your video did it for you.

too many Americans have their hand out wanting from the country.

I stand by what JFK once said, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

So don't take the college money and pay your own way in live.

  • I don't see where he is asking for a hand-out? Most people joined to make their own way. I know that I did. It's not what they get paid so much as it is the better safety conditions and the massive amount of money, your money, that these guys are getting in SUV's, trips, etc etc. He is not asking for anything but to be given the best equipment he can for his job and the same safety standards as a contractor when is comes to living conditions. He is not asking them to go on patrol.

  • When where you in? Where did you go? I am out of Ft. Hood myself.

  • Wow. You suck.

  • So why did you join? Free college. Get a loan. You joined after the war had started.

Come on get them to raise the age even more. Let the men go do what you kids are to scared to do without whineing about it.

  • I joined for a few reasons. Yes, College was one of them. But your comment is an ill-informed insult. So you think it's fine the contractors live better than Soldiers? You think it's ok that we have Hum-V and MRAPS that don't keep Soldiers safe? What is your military history?

  • great vid man...

I felt like running for cover!

  • You are so very brave--I appreciate what you are doing so much. I'm sorry that our tax money is mostly supporting Blackwaters and Halliburtons, and that our collective consciousness is brainwashed by the BS Corporate Media Cowards. I wish more people knew about what is really happening or would pay attention to it! Keep doing what you are doing--I heard you on Democracy Now--things are changing and you are making a positive difference with your films. People are waking up! (but hitting snooze)

  • the guy in the end needs to come home. to TEXAS! not boston. ;D

  • sorry socomcorky, I wanted to hit the reply button but i hit spam instead... lol sorry.

But what I was going to say was I never used to believe that... but after a while with the prices being so high, I believe our government has betrayed us, our veterans and our troops... time and time again.

  • BTW, what is that song that plays at the beginning and end? It's really quite hauntingly beautiful.

  • All this death and suffering because we let our government get taken over by oil companies.

  • Is that a joke? If you are serious you have no clue what you are talking about. The Iraq war has only made the price of oil higher.

  • Yeah, let me pass that along to my dead friends families.

  • you know the funny thing ?

US spends billions to kill the occasional resistance fighter and plenty of civilians while the Iraqis spend a few dollars and recycle scrap metal and kill or cripple the occasional grunt (and plenty of civilians, depending on the groups objective).

USA will install a draft under McCain to get more warm bodies for iraq (and iran) while the iraqis get dozens of volunteers every day (probably leftovers from the dead civilians).

    USA!USA!USA!

    lol

  • This is a fascinating and refreshingly unsanitized account of some of the things that actually go on in Iraq. Our media is failing us, and your work is a light in the dark.

I am 18 years old, and your work does what no mainstream media is able to do: It makes me think "this could be me."

I heard your interview on Democracy Now!, and I believe that thanks to people like you, I can be proud of my generation. Good luck to you. I hope that you return safely and have a chance to make some films.

  • "this could be me" is what every film-maker wants people to feel. Thank you.

  • Awesome video. The guy in the end talks the truth!

  • May God bless you and keep you safe.

This is very courageous of you.

    Thank you.

  • Real time.

The corporate media can go to hell.

Stay safe, and get back here alive.

I never supported this BS war, but

I appreciate your service to the country, and am forever indebted to you guys.

    Peace

  • Tru dat , Keep that shit real Semper Fi..

  • My Prayer are with you Dude and your Buds, we LOVE YOU the angel of mercy shall protect you all. Thank You

  • Great work, dude. What you are doing is so important. Thank you, thank you. You guys who are risking your lives every day are only an idea to most people here, and the war is just a ball for politicians to kick around. People rarely think of, or envision, or SEE, what you face every day. All love to you. Please be safe and keep up the good work.

  • wheres the actual bomb? when does it explode?

  • Thanks for the videos from a viewer in Canada. We get to see so little on the news of what the war is like for those who live it, combatants or civilians. It's all too easy to support or ignore something we're told is cheap and painless, hence we need the direct and personal stories and perspectives that you and your camera can bring. Keep it up and be safe.

  • my, iraq looks like a fun place to be- certainly worthy of development, democracy and sacrifice

  • Hey Casey, more great stuff! Hang in there and keep 'em comming!

I like seeing "the man on the street" type films where you realy get the feel of the partisipants day to day lives .

Just saw "Heavy Metal in Bagdad" Holy Shit!

    BRING 'EM HOME!

  • I am old, disabled and I say with all the life and strength in me....

I got your back..........be safe and God bless. We will take back our country.

  • saw the democracy now piece,

    thanks for posting.

  • I also just read your interview on Democracy Now! I hope more people see your posts, and the other IVAW stuff too.

  • Wow, that was spectacular.

  • Powerful stuff. It's needs to see TV, but shame nobody wants to tune in. Loved today's Democracy Now Segment. Amy Goodman is a saint for staying as grounded as she is seeing things like the on such a regular basis.

    PEACE!

    kenn.

  • Thanks Casey and Josh. Important work you are doing. Maybe someday people will realize what a tragic crime this all is.

  • Casey, Thank you for doing what you're doing!
