Actually, no you don't. The best and most highest rated virus protection software is free, like Avast. Upgrading parts to keep up with software ? How can you say that when the Mac comes with 2 year old hardware right out of the box and has lost every PC vs. Mac third-party benchmark? Crap out in 2 years? I think you had better pay a visit to IGN, who has posted the article which says that the Mac Pro is going bye bye. Don't shoot the messenger. Macbook sales account for 75% of Apple's business. That's a fact. As for being "wicked fast," take a look at the ASUS U-series laptops, which trounce the Macbooks three times over in performance numbers with 10-12 hour battery life.

I have nothing more to say. If you think you're getting a great deal with Mac, then all the more power to you. Well Ok, clearly you need to do more research into what a workstation is and the type of computing power needed to accomplish it. If you're doing high level visual effects and video editing like I do, you need a seriously powerful station. No, they most certainly are not :) Photo editing and movie making are done 100% the same way on both PC and Mac. Macs merely have slower, older hardware on board, and charge a ton for it. Good news everyone - I visited the institute thats making this video today, trust me i was surprised to find out they were the college responsible for this awesomeness. Anyways i asked the admissions lady who was giving me a tour of the building and she told me that it would be done in this fall. I know its been a while but the students who created the video in there final year have graduated so give them a break.

Why wouldn't the programs open faster? The speed is better in every category.
If you're a director, go Mac. If you're a hardcore gamer, go PC, but for software, not hardware. If you're an average person, either is just fine. Whatever OS you prefer is best. If you're anyone, don't go Alienware. They're overpriced and have bad build quality.
Macs are great hardware, but pricey. All their hardware is high-end. Most people I know buy a Mac for OS X, though.

DDR3 ECC SDRAM is shitty? I guess the Alienware has shitty RAM, too, seeing as they use the same kind.
The processor is a standard Intel Xeon. Those are specifically designed to have higher amounts of cache than their consumer counterparts like the i7, which is in the Alienware. It has more cache than an i7.
The drives on the Mac Pro are faster, and it can support up to four. Plus, it can support SSDs, which I can't find on the Alienware page.

@00hydraburst PCs can play way more games. I only know 1 company that support macs so the games are playable for Macs and PCs, and even some of theyr games only work for PCs.

@barraki150 Actually Blizzard, Valve, Bungie(Before Microsoft), Mojang and a ton of other companies support Mac OS X. So therefore they are still equal.

@00hydraburst PC beats Mac in gaming hard. There are way way way WAY more games for PC than mac so I guess PC would have much better experience in fighting. But i guess we are really never going to see a PC and a Mac fight eachother so therefor we will never know lol :P And i was talking about Valve. Some games from Valve only work for PC. But their newest games work for Mac. Mac just isn't for gaming.

Good news everyone - I visited the institute thats making this video today, trust me i was surprised to find out they were the college responsible for this awesomeness. Anyways i asked the admissions lady who was giving me a tour of the building and she told me that it would be done in this fall. I know its been a while but the students who created the video in there final year have graduated so give them a break.

Why wouldn't the programs open faster? The speed is better in every category.
If you're a director, go Mac. If you're a hardcore gamer, go PC, but for software, not hardware. If you're an average person, either is just fine. Whatever OS you prefer is best. If you're anyone, don't go Alienware. They're overpriced and have bad build quality.
Macs are great hardware, but pricey. All their hardware is high-end. Most people I know buy a Mac for OS X, though.

DDR3 ECC SDRAM is shitty? I guess the Alienware has shitty RAM, too, seeing as they use the same kind.
The processor is a standard Intel Xeon. Those are specifically designed to have higher amounts of cache than their consumer counterparts like the i7, which is in the Alienware. It has more cache than an i7.
The drives on the Mac Pro are faster, and it can support up to four. Plus, it can support SSDs, which I can't find on the Alienware page.
