what you need to do is open the ipod and take a look at the battery connecter. By now i'm guessing your warranty is up with apple so youll have to do it on your own now. go on Amazon and by a new battery with some opening tools( probably like $8). So just reseat the battery cable or by and install a new one

The wheel worked again, I was able to press it down, and when I did - it turned on. It works just fine now. So if you have a stuck center wheel, and your ipod has gone dead - try to fix the wheel before doing anything else drastic.
cont... what I did was carefully open the ipod from the bottom where the usb cable connects. cracked it open just a little (did not remove entirely), just wide enough to slide a thin metal tool underneath and remove the center wheel. Then I repositioned the dark sticky glue on that circuitry-lookin board that the 'select' wheel sits on. The dark glue was askew so I centered it. hm. well, here's how I fixed my ipod that wouldn't boot. My video ipod (5th gen) went completely dead. It wouldn't turn on at all, just a totally dark black screen. lolz waste money, and an ipod classic is nicer to an i pod touch for its battery life and music, but all u gotta do is press the menu button and the center button at the same time, and then press the center button and the play/pause button at the same time, and it will enter disk mode, and your come should be able to read it
Dude all you have to have done was hold the Menu and select button and from there it will go to the apple screen then hold play/pause and the select button and it will enter disk mode!!

I found the problem.. and it was a bad logic board... i ordered it from Ebay for i guess $40 bucks and it workerd in the 1st go.. i figured this out when my bluetooth headset was also not working then I remembered that I had used a standard car charger for my ipod and bluetooth headset and they both got fried... ( used a Car Coffee heater.. and it has a USB adaptor so used that to charge the ipod & bluetooth)

You need a new battery! after 200 hundred uses or 2 years the battery dies for some reason. you can buy it on ebay for like 8 dollars and it comes with the instuctions on how to change it and the tools your going to need.

i need help same ipod wont charge or turn on or cant restart ...... wen i charge it all it says is plz wait battery very low ... left it there cahrging for 1 whole day nuthin happe nit says the same ... thing and wen i remove the charger form the ipod the word plzz wait battery very low slowly fades out ... is sumtihn wrong wit my ipod.... or is it dead...and wen i look at my ipod screen its kinda rainbowish color ...WTH is going on HELP PLZZZ! no bro its like crazy for awhile now .. i charge it for heka long now .. it charge .. its jus like wtf piece of trash .... ! stilll im jux hoping it works .. cuz i have a whole lottta songs and i use it as a portable hardrive too i have sum of my programs in there man ... shit ... hope itll work .... soon enough if not idk wat to do ....

HEY i fixed it lol! i swear it works ! but yeah all u got to doo is drop it on a carpet floor acouple times not on tile floor or ur gunna eff up ur ipod but on carpet floor i swear it works ....then wen u drop it acouple time restart it and WALA! it should turn on ! i tihnk the battery in the ipod must be loose or sumthin ...

my ipod video gradually ran out of life after more and more use and then it finally stopped charging....i had to keep it in the charger to play music, and then it stopped charging totally. when i plug it in the computer it says "Please wait very low battery" and it still wont turn on after hours of being in the charger. i replaced the battery and it didnt help. if u kno wat happened then plzz tell me

did you manage to fix ur ipod, cuz mine wont turn on, like the video i plug it by usb, and the only thing that shows is like the apple sign then it tries to start makes a like a reboot sound and turns off, it does this over and over again... can you help me out man!! thanx... btw i did press the center and menu and still wont work!!!

i know what to do bro i had the same problem today. look all that u have to do is hold the menu botton and the play/pause botton and u just have to wait until the apple sing came up i hope it works

woah it just turned on... I just messed with the lock button, switching it on and off, for some reason it turned on when i locked it. Idk if this will help anyone, but it seems if you leave it for a while and mess with the lock every once in a while it will turn on if its like mine.

aw. I really miss my ipod video which I sold a year ago, it was perfect
I own a fucking touch 16gb... really hate that piece of shit and a 160gb classic which is nowhere near as good as the old video... none of these can videoout anything to my car's lcd screen, not a cheapass lcd, but a clarion using their stupid $50 dock cable
oh and that didn't stopped me from doing stupid things, later got an iphone 3g, 16gb one... haha 1 month later I gave it away to my sister. Enough apple for me! sorry

i just got it just now...and i also just fixed it...all you do is plug it in the wall(wall charger) or into another computer..if it still dont work then your battery died..and you need to buy a new one

ok i commented on this before now i hav another problem.... a way i fixed my ipod is i took off the cover and the orange wire on the bottom... i unplugged that waited a few seconds the put it back in then my ipod worked.......... but i think i did that too much and now my ipod wont charge... its pluged into mu computer rite now and all it says is that the battery is very low.... ITS BEEN VERY LOW FOR 3 DAYS!!!!!!. could someone help

Hi guys,.
I am replying to my post here 6 months back..
I found the problem.. and it was a bad logic board... i ordered it from Ebay for i guess $40 bucks and it workerd in the 1st go.. i figured this out when my bluetooth headset was also not working then I remembered that I had used a standard car charger for my ipod and bluetooth headset and they both got fried... ( used a Car Coffee heater.. and it has a USB adaptor so used that to charge the ipod & bluetooth)

i watched the video where you need to hold down your
middle button then the menu button and it will reset your ipod and it will be working then :)

mine did this i thought that the battery died so i tried to change it but i guess i loosened it up and i tried pluging it in and itunes and itunes downloaded 2 different programs for me and i ended up restoring it to the factory settings then had to wait for about 2 hours for my stuff to go back on now it works fine other then a little physical damage by the plug in place

mine randomly does this like once a month . I had it packed up and ready for the guarbage when I heard one of my alarms go off with hot n cold! Now i find that if i let it run out of juice it works again.

You need a new battery! after 200 hundred uses or 2 years the battery dies for some reason. you can buy it on ebay for like 8 dollars and it comes with the instuctions on how to change it and the tools your going to need.

I've had my iPod touch (1st gen) for about a year. I used it about 3 hrs. a day. The battery drains really fast. I'm getting a nano-chromatic. My dads gonna kill me when I tell him it doesnt work anymore. I broke my 1st iPod by accident when I dropped it, my second iPod my dog bit : (. Now, im dead.

my ipod chromatic is the same thing but it will turn on when i plug it in: first it shows the apple logo,then it shows the the song,playlist,Etc. Then it says connect to power,turns off Then it reapeats. I need to get a new ipod. or can anyone help me?

same problem with me :O just today i was listening on the bus and bam it switched off... the battery was full too. i plugged it in back home and it wouldn't switch on... and YES i did do the centre menu thing even tried putting it into that other mode where you have to press the centre and play after it..
