Holy quacamole - you've got nearly 95K views - fantastico. Our 2009 festival films got over 1 million views if you put them altogether. Isn't that great.
We are working on our 2010 programme now. All the best:)
This is wonderful! I am from America and my relatives still live on the Hill of Slane at the bottom of the Abbey. I remember playing in the Tower of Terror and all around the Abbey as a child. My great great great great grandfather came to the Abbey in the 1700 and planted the woods around the area. Great video to pass on to my son and his family.
Wonderful video, and eerily serendipitous. My name is John Hagen, and I helped build the Tower of Terror in France. Hagen is Norwegian as opposed to the Irish O'Hagan. Your tower is 1600 years old and mine is a theme park attraction, but that's good enough for me. Thanks for posting!
Sometimes I wish I could live in a place like this. I really like all the castle ruins that surround this area. We don't have anything like that in California.
I love this. My father sent me this video. He grew up near here, in Rochfortbridge, West Meath---he lives in NYC now, and is an anthropologist--and he really thought this piece summed up the history of the area well.
i'm assuming that is slane castle? ive always loved that castle because my grandmother'smaiden name was slane and we're irish! I've always wondered if there was any connection there. would love to find out. I've always loved this music too!
Thats not slane castle. thats the hill of slane its an old college, chapal and graveyard.. There is no people in slane with the surname of slane. but you should really trace back the name and see how far it goes
Wyllie, a very interesting video. Several years ago I hiked up the Hill of Slane one evening. I climbed the Tower of Terror, it was quite spooky. In the graveyard below the tower was a partial human skull protruding from a grave. A great place.
Congratulations on being featured, and good luck managing your email I canonly imagine, I see the view counter leaping up-have a great week Shane! Great job on the vid!
I am happy to say that I have Irish on both sides. Love the Irish accent but have a problem understanding it sometimes. Are there different dialects? Thanks for the history today, so much better than drinking green beer and then turning green later! LOL
Happy St. Patrick's day everyone! But with all due respect, we have an even greater celebration coming up. its called (PASSOVER DAY), In Hebrew its called (HAGGADAH). Its start s April 9-16 2009. By the way this information, is the way I believe St. Patrick would of enjoyed beeing remembered.
At least they featured one actual Irish vid, shame most of the time people promote shitty "Irish" American culture instead of the real thing. Like that other vid they featured with all the yank stereotypes.
I totally agree. I am irish american myself, but have always had close ties with Ireland and have been back to stay with family on several occasions. the way i see people acting today makes me sick. its a shame they have no interest in true irish culture
