the problem with always saving by save state is the game will try to save and fail when you beat the elite four if the rom's save feature doesn't work , and bring you to the main menu. then you have no save to load from there and you're stuck.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO TRADE. You need to download TGB Dual and move your rom and the save files into the folder. Make sure to use actual save game files and not save states.

Don't teach Shadow Ball to STEAK. Back then Shadow Ball was a physical move, and Haunter has low Attack, it won't be a very powerful move. Give Shadow Ball to one of your physical attack oriented Pokemon for better type coverage.

You only want to put special attacks on a Haunter. Even if Shadow Ball is a ghost type move, it's not the right kind of move for it.

They fix all this nonsense in fourth generation, but this is second generation!

You know, to save Shadow Ball's PP you should use flash (which does damage equal to the USER'S level btw, the person who said opponent's is stupid) when you weaken a pokemon within KO range of Flash. You only get 15 shadow balls <_<

go get an abra, grind it til it evolves, and then use the tgb dual emulator (which is easy to find just google it) and then trade it to yourself to evolve it again and your party will be snazzy. I think you can evolve steak by trading too.

You can only get Growlithe in Crystal, Vulpix is in Silver. THOUGH if you want to wait for Kanto you can catch a Houndour, they're actually pretty nice and I personally prefer them over Growlithe since you don't need a stone.

I'd recommend getting a Heracross. You can get him by headbutting trees on Route 42.

I know where you can get a fire pokemon. Go back to golden rod city (the one where you got the bike). and go to the left on the bottom half of the tracks. The house in the corner has bill who gives you an eevee and you can use a firestone to get a flareon. (or a jolteon, vaporean, espeon, or umbreon)
