Purchase both the THUNDERSTICK albums + previously unreleased bonus tracks, restored and remastered, reissued as a single CD from Heaven and Hell Records: "Echoes from the Analogue Asylum". Thunderstick is finally back!
for anyone who has not seen it yet search "Iron Maiden and the new wave of british heavy metal" on here....there's alot of Samson stuff in there & lots of Thunderstick interviews too
I have Samson "head tactics" on cassette tape still. I beleive head on and head tactics are the same albums. total kick ass song that leads the album off. one of my favorite tapes in my collection. the head tactics LP sounds more polished. the solo is different in this song too, sounds better on head tactics.
FYI - 'Head Tactics' is a compilation of tracks from 'Head On' and 'Shock Tactics', the 2 albums Samson did with Bruce Dickinson on vocals - hence the title. The special thing about HT at the time was the inclusion of 'Losing My Grip', one of the last songs Bruce recorded. When he left for Maiden, Samson re-recorded it with their new singer, Nicky Moore, and put out the 'Losing My Grip' 4-song EP.
I don't think they re-tooled anything performance-wise with solos and such but the tracks were re-mastered for HT which could be the reason for the improved sound quality.
ok after further study i have been listening to tons of Samson lately. my head tactics cassette from 1986 says all tracks remixed by jo julian and paul samson. and for instance walking out on you on my HT cassette doesnt have the trippy long ending part. some parts in songs are slightly different and sound tightened up a bit and sound better than album form. and like you said it has losing my grip track 3 on it with bruce which i prefer over nickys. \m/
