@rocaddict2 something like that must've went on since there was no proper ending. and it was just getting interesting too with the references towards control of masses by religion, with the new bad guys. i thought controversial references may have had something to do with it too

Just starting to watch Farscape and NOW this joke makes sense lol...I like the touch of making Daniel play John, to allude to the romance between Jackson and Vala as opposed to referencing the old relationship of Aeryn and John. Also: every line being just one of the made up vulgarities is epic.

I love how Michael Shanks and Ben Browder decided to switch places at the last minute so Shanks would play Browder's character (Crichton) and Browder would play Stark hahaha

I can't believe Stargate had that in though. I love when a show has been on for over five seasons, because then they have the "right" to start doing odd episodes that are unique and make the viewers smile.
I've watched both series throughout and i can tell that they're completely different kinda shows. In my opinion Farscape is alot more nerdcore than stargate, but they're both awesome.
So, I'm watching Stargate SG-1 for the first time (after watching Farscape first). The only reason I started watching was Claudia Black. When this scene popped up on Netflix on my iPhone about 30 seconds ago, I just bust out laughing at work. So freaking funny.
I object to Farscape being labeled a "popcorn" show. Not too strenuously, though, since these are opinions and opinions often mean nothing outside of those giving them. I haven't seen much of Battlestar Galactica but I suspect even if I did I'd be thinking: "This is good but Babylon 5 still did it first and better." as far as that epic single-location(mostly) heavy character-interaction, high-stakes drama type sci-fi show is concerned.
Stargate, firefly, farscape, andromeda are all sci-fi "popcorn" shows with overly stereotyped characters: A macho main character and female main character which in the end they stay together or die together, and a bunch of "weirdos" who serve as the rest of the "team" and make it funny sometimes. Nice for "popcorners" but if you want the best best sci-fi show, with rich characters and incredible storyline then battlestar galactica reimagined is the best thing you can get.

@JayMerc75 Andromeda idea is from the 70's. In fact Gene Roddenberry had it "in the hoven" since that time. You know, Gene Roddenberry, the guy behind StarTrek. So get your facts right regarding what's a ripoff of what . Both series aired in 2000.

@MrCroky123 I think BSG, Farscape, and Star Trek are all three very different, but very valid forms of science fiction and television, and they all influenced each other. For example, the Baltar-Angel Six dynamic clearly has a precedent in the Crichton-Harvey mental chip. BSG and Star Trek have similarities, both of them being military science fiction shows, and so do Farscape and Star Trek, both being about encountering alien cultures and the like. There is no "rip-off", merely influence.
How Daniel grabs Vala: it's just like in Farscape or Crichton would take advantage of even life threatening situation to grab Aeryn by the waist and hold her against him...
Hey I wouldn't complain if I was her, but that always amused me how she played the though and cold girl but always let him get away with it :P
I think the less episodes as sci-fi series has had the more fanatic its following will be. For example, Firefly got cut before the shark was even in the same universe, much less within jumping distance!
Now, Stargate, the movie, was awesome and the series started out cool too but somewhere down the line it DID jump the shark (and I quit watching it).
Farscape was too crazy, too trippy, too friggin' out there to even care about sharks: it took the frelling stone from the start and survived too :D
Didn't care for stargate about halfway through its run , love farscape though. In some ways maybe its better it ended , It didn't get a chance to decline.

Farscape was canceled because the production cost got too high not because of lack of viewers. SYFY is just another name for the Sci-Fi network. I don't know about reruns but atleast but at least they made a 3 hour movie to wrap most story lines up nice and neat though I could use a lot more info on how the PK-Scaran wars relly ended. Did both sides keep thier word. I jope to see someday.
@TybaltPOC There's an ongoing Farscape comic book series that's set after the miniseries, and written by the show's creator, that's answering some of those questions now.
I think Browder didn't play Crichton simply because this was Vala's fantasy and we all know that Daniel is her romantic lead in Stargate, so she would choose him to play her romantic partner in her Farscape fantasy.
@HBhannahbrown Browder was originally going to play Crichton, but traded with Michael Shanks because he thought it would be funnier to have Browder playing Stark (and it made more sense for Vala to have the romantic image of Shanks' character as Crichton).

i've never really liked stargate, farscape however had jim henson working on it and that's something that makes it all the better and the plot is more original.

You know I have been to numerous Sci Fi conventions, one of which we had a Farscape party in which case a herd of Stargate fans walked in and immediately started acting like assholes. Later on because we were supposed to have a shared party because we were cancelled and Stargate borrowed our actors, that didn't work out at all again a bunch of assholes. Then on year you organized a party to last one day in which case we would get the room the next day, then refused to leave the next day.

@MrCroky123 I think BSG, Farscape, and Star Trek are all three very different, but very valid forms of science fiction and television, and they all influenced each other. For example, the Baltar-Angel Six dynamic clearly has a precedent in the Crichton-Harvey mental chip. BSG and Star Trek have similarities, both of them being military science fiction shows, and so do Farscape and Star Trek, both being about encountering alien cultures and the like. There is no "rip-off", merely influence.

I think the less episodes as sci-fi series has had the more fanatic its following will be. For example, Firefly got cut before the shark was even in the same universe, much less within jumping distance!
Now, Stargate, the movie, was awesome and the series started out cool too but somewhere down the line it DID jump the shark (and I quit watching it).
Farscape was too crazy, too trippy, too friggin' out there to even care about sharks: it took the frelling stone from the start and survived too :D

That's exactly the point. The whole scene is a pun on the relative obscurity of Farscape. Claudia Black and Ben Browder's participation makes it even more hilarious. I am a huge Farscape fan, too, but not to the point of losing my sense of humour. Thor as Rygel? That's just toooo much!!

Farscape was canceled because the production cost got too high not because of lack of viewers. SYFY is just another name for the Sci-Fi network. I don't know about reruns but atleast but at least they made a 3 hour movie to wrap most story lines up nice and neat though I could use a lot more info on how the PK-Scaran wars relly ended. Did both sides keep thier word. I jope to see someday.

I think Browder didn't play Crichton simply because this was Vala's fantasy and we all know that Daniel is her romantic lead in Stargate, so she would choose him to play her romantic partner in her Farscape fantasy.

@HBhannahbrown Browder was originally going to play Crichton, but traded with Michael Shanks because he thought it would be funnier to have Browder playing Stark (and it made more sense for Vala to have the romantic image of Shanks' character as Crichton).

Stargate fans didn't create the show. Stargate didn't borrrow actors, they signed up. You're putting millions of people into one group because of a few fans, there's fans of everything that are jerks. Just because I liked a show doesn't mean I'm a bad person. I know Stargate fans that are regular, nice people. I'm not saying Stargate is better than Farscape either, I haven't seen much of Farscape yet. If you don't like Stargate, ok, don't watch it.

You know I have been to numerous Sci Fi conventions, one of which we had a Farscape party in which case a herd of Stargate fans walked in and immediately started acting like assholes. Later on because we were supposed to have a shared party because we were cancelled and Stargate borrowed our actors, that didn't work out at all again a bunch of assholes. Then on year you organized a party to last one day in which case we would get the room the next day, then refused to leave the next day.

@Faelsun actually, I thought the parody was for Stargate fans who loved Farscape. It's an "in" JOKE. I LOVE Farscape and I thought the parody was tongue-in-cheek, fun, and quite funny. I appreciate the writer's acknowledgement of their fans who are also fans of Farscape.
I'm pleased the Stargate people were smart enough to pick up Browder and Black, and I loved seeing them again alongside Tapping, Judge, Shanks, and Anderson.

They have sold there soul and tried to cover up the sale with a simple logo change.
