  • yea this is all correct but if you heat it up it gets thinner and makes it easier to pump through the unheated pre filters like my filters in my mercedes before the injection pump but you dont have to heat it past that point because the engine components are heated up your also supposed to start the engine on diesel or bio diesel first to bring it to operating temp before you burn the veggie oil

  • @halopersin That was exactly our point, the exact temperature the fuel needs to be at isn't necessarily the end goal. As long as the engine is warm enough that you have unrestricted flow, that is what a good SVO system should do.

  • I cant believe that anyone would be so dumb as to think the oil had to have an outside heat source before hitting the injector. On a cold engine you could heat the oil to 300 degrees but by the time it hit that cold injecter with a cold head heatsinking it all it would still end up cold. Same goes for the the hot engine in heating the oil up as it goes through the injector. As long as your oil is warm enough to flow from the tank to the injector it will be fine. Now Stanadyne pumps may object.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • right on! Hopefully more people watch this than those mythbuster idiots who declare "there is absolutely nothing wrong with just throwing filtered vegetable oil in your fuel tank" before we have pick and pulls full of clogged diesels!

  • Hey, thanks for watching our videos! Under the right conditions you can put in filtered veggie, but in cold climates it's not going to work.

  • hello !

i have just one dought. (sorry my bad english)

have you ever open a diesel engine converted to vgo?its the same thing like running diesel?

since the engine creates more heat running on vgo that normal diesel im afraid to do some damage to my cars, i have 2 of them running on ovg mitsubishi l200 and space runner!

thanks for posting your videos ;)

  • Yes, we've converted thousands of diesel vehicles to run on vegetable oil. Check out our website or give us a call and we'd love to answer any other questions you might have!

    Thanks!

  • how do you keep heat in the gas tank so in the winter it dosen't freeze

  • We use our exclusive 3B hose which has two coolant lines that circulate coolant which has been heated by the waste heat from your engine. As the heated coolant circulates through the coolant lines which are wrapped with the fuel line and through the heat exchanger in our veggie tank, all of the veggie oil is heated up throughout it's path from tank to engine. If you have any other questions feel free to contact us or visit our website :)

  • We use a heat exchanger with a heated fuel pickup. Check out our website and the FAQ section or give us a call if you have anymore questions :)

  • Damn man you rule I wish you were my brother....since u are the god of diesels keep up the awesome work

  • I live in Ohio and we get some fairly bad winters. How does one keep that oil at a good enough temperature? Plus I don't use my car everyday...would it just be better to run biodiesel in the winter mixed with regular diesel?

  • We are a Straight Vegetable Oil company so what I can tell you is how our systems perform in cold weather. We have vehicles running our systems from Fairbanks Alaska to Canada and the upper East Coast. Start up times before switching over to SVO will take longer the colder it gets, but once our system gets the vegetable oil up to temp, running in sub zero temperatures is not an issue. If you have more questions, feel free to call our 800 number :)

  • Im thinking of doing this. Over here in Britian we use thinners to thin the oil down a bit to make it flow. Further to your idea how about a copper coil wrapped around the exhaust manifold? That would act nicely as a heat exchanger. So from the tank, through the copper then into the injector pump. See my point?

  • Using heat to lower the oils viscosity is much better than adding chemicals. You're able to cut out an ongoing cost, (the extra chemicals) and extra step that is required with biodiesel.

  • yes, but biodiesel requires no conversion. Each type of system (bio or SVO) has its advantages/disadvantages. I personally use biodiesel and love it. As long as we keep getting the word out about biofuels and biotechnologies. Peace, J

  • Biodiesel is def. an option. The difference between bio diesel and SVO is that with SVO, you convert the car once and then each gallon of fuel after that is free. With Biodiesel you have an ongoing cost of converting each gallon of veggie into biodiesel for the life of your car. Biodoesel requires chemicals and more time and energy than SVO to convert each gallon of veggie into biodiesel.

  • but what about when you live north and its 20 degs out?

  • True this filtration unit has its limitations. During the winter you'll have to collect the oil for settling and filtration in a warm setting. However if you do a lot of traveling in the summer, this is an incredibly handy tool to filter on the go!

  • but your point was that the engine was hot enough to heat the oil... but what if the oil is sitting in my 10 deg tank and its to thick to pass thru my fuel lines? Cant you make a engine heat blanket to fit the tank have that run off a extry set of car batterys then when the car runs the car will recharge thos batterys?

  • Right, cold oil wont flow through your filter at that temp. But once the fuel is heated by your veg. system to a point where it can flow unrestricted to the engine, the engine will be the final heat exchanger.

You could use electric heat to heat your veggie, but it's going to take MANY MANY watts of power to do so, most car batteries would be drained VERY quickly trying to heat such a large mass of veggie.

  • Yes, veggie wont flow in 10 degs. The point of this video is to prove that if you have a veg. system that can heat the oil enough to flow unrestricted through your lines and filter to your engine, the injectors will heat the oil to a temp hotter than what most veggie nay sayers are admitting. This disproves their theories that the veg. needs to be some very hot temp BEFORE you flip over to veggie.

  • hi i live in sunny england and run a merc 2.2 cdi what would i need to do so i can use svo thanks for any help

  • Give us a call at GFS and we'd be happy to answer any questions you might have :)

  • Nicely done, you made your point well~
