These guys are doing a crappy job of drilling. There trying to do their drills too fast for their skill level. As a result, they're totally sloppy. What's the point of drilling moves if your doing it half ass? These dumb asses should start slow, get the technique right, and then pick up the past. Fast, smooth, and technical is good. Fast and sloppy is worthless. Perfect practice makes perfect.
@kamalamalama do you think this is all they do? this is a flow drill, it is working on constantly moving, constantly looking for the next transition, and it trains cardio. I'm sure they also train their techniques slow to get them perfect, but that is not the purpose of this drill.
alot of the moves you guys show are really hard because i am only 12. like the flying arm bar i am in all the adult classes where i go and i cant do it right any advice.
My advice would be, not to worry as much about a low percentage move, that's only available from standing position with certain grips...on opponents that are bigger than you. There's so many limitations in a flying armbar, it's fun, but it's not, nor should it be your first concern. Learn your basics, armbar, kimura, triangle. then start learning to escape side control, being young and small will make it hard, but it's motivation to get good at escaping. Flying armbars are cool, but don't worry.
i like the mix of the twister side control into these flowing drills. seeing things like this makes me see how similar all martial arts and partner interactions have to be, similar themed things are done in wing tsun, albeit rarely on the ground.
thanks submissions101 and 10th planet, i think what you guys do is great.
And PLEASE do not decorate your next flow drill vids with music and effects as would giddy youtubers. I know it's "cooool" & "today" but it's forever distracting & ugly.
Hmm, we do lots of flow drills, such as guard, pass, side mount, mount, bridge, lather, rinse, repeat... but wow, incorporating the half guard. I will have to show this one to my instructor.
thx for the vid. I could never get the old school down but after this vid I think i can get it. I never pushed the guy up like that to get the position so i'll probably try that.
Nice flow.whipup, old school, twister, tip toe mount. but at :47 he is holding the wrong leg.could eat a knee.very nice though

Very nice drill, this is alot more effective then the one we currently use at my dojo.
Between half gaurd and twister control what is that move called? I use it alot as I always pull half guard but I don't actually know what its called.
Do you have any more videoes on that perticular move?
-Thanks

are slams allowed in bjj?
if so....lol wrestlers would do pretty alright even tho they are on top most of the time.
paisteorgy 3 years ago
no they aren't... but slams are perfect openings for arm bars. I've done it :)
xesogycit 3 years ago
if slams were legal than up kicks would be also...trust me you dont want slams legal!
graciecleveland 2 years ago 8
what you mean upkicks would be legal? dont you understand the concept of no hitting?
2007niko2007 2 years ago
It depends on the tournament. ADCC has slams, but only when in a submisson.

Yeah, I like the flow drill. Now lets add some light punches in there to simulate a fight and being able to keep your composure. Good Stuff!
