you need 1200rms in a sealed box for these subs?... um, 400rms would blow them (rated at 350rms a piece)... as far as your lights dimming, junk brands of caps don't help at all, and most people will tell you caps are useless... I personally run a 1 farad Rockford and it cuts down dimming drastically (and I have two high power amps)... upgraded alternator is the best way to go though

I'd build a huge ported box for the subs, face the ports either to the side of the car or the trunk, and it'll help dramatically. You would think having them face you would be the best thing, but its really not.
Alright now, you got your system bumpin - now let's clean up this install a little bit. not bad for an entry level stereo. If you face your woofers backward towards the tailgate - you will gain SPL. Keep doin' what you love, and fuck the rest

if the yellow top battery in your car is the only battery you have your gonna have dimming, but if you get another battery it'll solve your dimming problem. or you could try upgrading your big 3. and caps aren't reliable, you'd be better off w/ a big 3 upgrade plus an extra batter
You suggest mounting a battery in the trunk and use a battery isolator? I was looking at a different alternator but am not sure if it is worth it? I feel your right about the extra battery.
you can get an alternator, but you dont need that much power...if you upgrade then ya you need a H.O. alt. but get an extra battery, big 3 upgrade, some 0 gauge and your set...what you do is hook up your car battery to your extra battery and then to your amp...its pretty basic electrical upgrades...remember: NO CAPS THEY ARE A WASTE NO MATTER WHAT FARAD...
no they aint i got my shit upgraded and my caps work great better than just the big 3. i still got lights dimming off of it. untill the cap. now i have no issues at all. and my sql set up is hitting 140 db'd
caps are perfect with an sql setup man dont listen to them. theyll make hater comments on here now because of me lol. you probably just need thicker power cable what you got running the power now?? 4 gauge at minimum i hope. thats battery cable thickness
actaully ive got 1/0 gauge of kicker hyperflex going to my sub amp and 4 gauge going to my component amp so im good on wire :) and for batteries im ordering a xs powermaster d3100 for the rear...

A new alternator is the ultimate solution IMO. Otherwise once your second battery runs outa juice it won't recharge with a crap unless you drive around for a while with the stereo off.
@glada13, agonz91Hey which car do you have??? cause let me tell you I have infinity sound either I have 1 Kappa perfect component system 6.5 & 2 kappa perfect 6x9 three way either at the back and 2 12'' subs kappa perfect either (which let me tell you sound great and really louder) I have the red battery (only one) and it works great for me (I have the red one cause I need 1000 CCA and 850 CA and the yellow has less amperes)
@agonz91 I just placed a 2 Faradium capacitor for the subs amp (1800 watts) and I have never had any problem. Battery can last a couple hours for me without discharging (having the car engine off of course.)
Well about the car let me tell you Is a mercury sable which has a big alternator. Which car do you have?? By the video I guess is not a little car but you need to see how big is the alternator and consider in total more less what is the amount of power that you're using because only ofsound
@agonz91@glada13 is about 150 constant Amperes and the yellow battery I guess has 650 Maximum CCA and you now the car's computer, the spark plugs, power seats, windows, sunroof if you have... All that's energy... If you have a big car like mine maybe just change your battery by the (optima's) red top one and that'll be it again I just have one battery without problem!!!
A friend of mine has a Buick century with just 1 amp keenwood 1800 watts with 2 12" Audio Art (300rms eachone) and the yellow battery and he has dimming problem either.. Hey any questions please feel free to ask... what I know I'll be glad to ask (Sorry about my bad english) Regards...
@glada13 new alt is a much better idea, a second battery will only add more strain to ur current alt, i would upgrade the big 3 then get a bigger alternator

what type of meter did you use? and ya since its just sq then a cap is good enough. but im not being an ass but i think your db numbers are off.
