Hi Lisa, this is very interesting, I was just wondering, do you think l this way of coding your site might change with html5, and is it still important now in mid 2011, Thx
hey lisa. i really think you should do a video on how you learned code and where. its most likely from reading but ive heard that coding isnt necesary easy to learn from reading , it takes experince. so it would help if you were to talk about the html and how you navigate thorugh it and manipulate it. its possible you have a "guy" for that but im sure their are some things you do yourself. just a suggestion
Thank you Lisa. You have been real helpful in getting clicks to my site at way ya go alkaline water. You have been one of the most helpful sources around.
amazing Thank you for the importation, for now im on the rough kind of blogger, i want more learn about blogging, to earn good SEO and good Traffic, thank you for that amzing, BOW .
thanks for this video. amazing content really. I've only watched about 3 of your vids so far but I really like watching them because they are actual "content" from your own experience and not just push product messages. That makes me more inclined to buy from your links if I were to buy any of the products that you are promoting for my own business
Good stuff that I am glad to be aware of; I just love when you share this type of information that I would not normally come across when I am out surfing. I probably would have to read tons of pages before getting to the nitty gritty of what is important in someone's content. Do you find that to be the case? Cheers.
Lisa have you done another video regarding this subject of changing the nav code on websites? I made my website using dreamweaver and would really like more info on how to get the content to the top by changing the nav code.
Hey everybody i was wondering if you guys could help me answer a question a created a free websites using webs.com i was wondering if i would get approved by google adsense or not and if i need a certain number of visiters.
Well I have site by Webs-com and pre-bought my own domain name manofthehourmagazine-com. I don't use ads on my site as of yet because I am focused on developing the content and building a base visitors and what I want to do with my site is different because the genesis of my product is the site. But from previous experience with a old site having a com name works better than having webs-com at the end of the site url.
And don't I believe personally in applying for an adsense until you have generated a substantial-amount of on going traffic for a long period of time.
Great tip, thanks! When you do your "how-to" video for websites, could you include how to do it when the navigation is on the top instead of on the left?
Also, just a side note - the blinking ad on the top of your site is very distracting in your video, especially when it's on that page for 5+ minutes.

Source code position has been a point of contention for many years, as I'm sure you know, but you did a great job explaining the difference between top tier and long tail strategies. i.e. on-page factors are more important for long tail sub pages than a homepage or sub section.
People don't get this sometimes and write off that tactic altogether thinking that it's just more SEO superstition. It's not. It does help if you're not competing in cut-throat SERPs. Age and links help more, though :)
Sssshhh... that's one of those tricks that are not very well known but have a huge impact in search engine ranking. Using it for years now with big success. Was inspired by Wikipedia, they do it the exact same.
just amazing. mat cutts released a video about the same point today, and I was trying to figure out how to improve my long tail traffic. keep up the good work Lisa.
Well one thing that we know for sure is that the first 250 or so words (that the search engines see) are the most important for relevance sake so you are onto something Lisa....coding things this way the googlebot will see your heading and most important page content first. great video
Is this only applicable to sites that have left or right sided navigation? I have a navbar at the top of my site with drop down menus. I don't know how I could put content above that since it would push the navbar below the content instead of at the top of the page which is obviously not what I would want.
I'm using an SBI template and all of my content is located near the bottom in the page source... And when reading the content, it shows up as 1 long line of words where you have to keep scrolling right to read all of it... instead of if showing up in paragraph form. Do you know why this is?
I have also seen many videos on this and I think it's certainly worth doing. The only problem for me is that both of my sites have a dropdown menu in the header so the best I can do is display my content before my right nav and my footer (already done).
@DevHQLessons You would have been right maybe 5 to 10 years ago. Why are you trolling her? She's simply sharing all of the things she has done and learned to become successful. Do you think she wants to become a programmer? Probably not. She probably just wants to learn enough that will allow her to create and maintain her websites. If it displays properly for 99.99% of the users, then who really cares?
@GodWeaponKaillera Firstly I'm not trolling, im just giving constructive critisicm.
Secondly when you say "you would have been right maybe 5-10 years ago" were you talking to her? Because I'm pretty sure that my information is a lot more recent than hers.
Also no, I doubt she wants to be a programmer (webpages dont need programming, they need scripting , but I get the jist); however search engines may rank her badly for bad coding standards.
Web design is divided, some love it, others hate it.

You seem to refer to backlinks as pure gold. Backlinks are important; but really keyword density, and content are a LOT more important.
