I just got started watching "ABBA: The Movie" and it's incredible! Did you know that Ann-Frid Lyngstad is the only member of ABBA that wasn't born in Sweden? Actually born in neighboring Norway (that figures considering that Liv Ullman was from there) and the nickname of Frida came about in 1971 when it was the title of her first solo album (and it was probably out of left field). That photo of Agnetha and Ann-Frid wearing the "Wateroo" costumes at 4:36-can you believe that was in 1981?
All the ABBA memebers are the most courteous people in doing this interview. Maybe the interviewer fell on his head when he was a kid. Great Pictures! thanks!
That interviewer really is a tool. It "strikes him as curious" that a swedish band records their music in Sweden?? What did he expect? Probably thinks that you can't have a recording studio anywhere outside the US. What a shame that a group as important and respected as ABBA had to waist their valuable time talking to this clown.
@producermattpop i thought the same thing....lol; i know that britney spears and backstreet boys and some others on the Jive label used to go to Stockholm to record their music so they must have some great studios...plus they had a Swedish writer who wrote a lot of their hits - Max Martin; well I guess he learned something new :)
This doesn't sound like an interview, it's more like a chat to confirm or reconfirm what each one know about the ABBA years, although there were some simple questions thrown in. It's okay, but would have preferred a live one.Pictures were great and rare, especially Bjorn and Agnetha's family pictures with their son.The kid looked like Bjorn. Thanks for posting, good job.
Bjorn and Benny sang in other bands before Abba, didn't they? They could definetly sing, especially Bjorn. Of course they weren't anything great. Without the girls they would have obviously not gotten famous with their singing alone.

Great group, ABBA is. However,I suspect that the dudes never really sang in them ABBA songs. More like lip sync. I think the "boys" part was just a remix of the girls' vocals.
Why do you think so? For example: Rock me, Does your mother know, Why did it have to be me, Another town, another train and so much other songs: they could sing also.
I found it interesting that the dull interviewer ask them about recording in America. I think that would have ended their careers. The Swedish musicians and their unique sound would have been watered down over here even if they'd brought their guys with them. Benny was a unique stylist that a producer over here would have tried to take credit for and that would never have worked.
I agree, he's pretty blunt and bold at times, but then again, they weren't what they are now, and it did cause some daring questions and answers. He's probably not very proud of this recording now..
I would just like to say thank you all for making this video such a big hit. I thought it would make quite a nice clip for anyone interested in ABBA but I NEVER expected some 9 months later almost 25,000 people would've watched it!!! Have a merry Christmas & a happy new year.
Thanks fot sharing this interview. It sounds as if they're really comfortable and the questions and answers really have substance. Loved to hear it. And Sofia, I'm glad it was in English, so I could understand too;-).
The pictures are good but I would of done it as they were talking. You know, like if they were talking about Waterloo, then I would put pictures of waterloo on but other than that great job!
Thanks. It's just an old radio interview but, it being radio, is a slightly more relaxed style than TV. I thought it would be of interest to ABBA fans. I added the pictures to give it a little colour. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Yes I agree he's annoying as well. He also seems totally disinterested in what he is doing, he should probably find another profession. But to be fair it could be that he was totaly nervous about meeting ABBA that he didn't know what to ask next.
Lamentable, soy el inglés. Pero si usted preguntaba a lo que yo solía hacer el montaje entonces era el Windows Movie Maker. Usé Altavista para encontrar las fotos. Muchas gracias.

"That big contest what was it?"
"Eurovision."
"Now what was that contest again?"
"EU-RO-VIS-ION."
...
"What was that song about Napoleon that you sang in that contest that is named after the country of Europe?"

That's because the B's (guys) were the writers and composers and the A's (girls) were the singers and performers.
thesilvershields 3 years ago
Yeah, well known that the dudes were the composers. The guys were pantomiming every time they opened their mouths to "sing".

So who sang "Rock me" then??!!?!!

im sorry.. but this interveiwer is very lame and boring. he seems to be reaching half the time. I almost felt bad for ABBA having to sit through it.
