I always loved the sound that mourning doves make. It is very calming. But my mother felt differently. She said they sounded depressing. I think they're cool.
@ct650626 my mom found her in a field by the side of the road. there was strong winds or something from a hurricane, and she somehow got hurt. so my mom got her and we took her home to try to get her back so she could go back into the wild, but her wings didnt heal properly and she cant fly, so we have kept her since cause she couldnt make it in the wild.
@angbritt That's nice, you guys saved her life. My aunt found a wild bird outside a long time ago. She brought it in and nursed it back to health (but it was unable to fly) and it lived for quite a few years with her.
What a beautiful, haunting sound. It also brings back memories of visiting my mom in Antigua, where the sound of the Mourning Dove filled the air. Thanks for the lovely video.
as I was watching this I heard another dove cooing other than him so I stopped the video and it cooing in my yard lol so cute thanks for adding the video!
I've heard this call so many times, and I've always wondered what kind of bird made it. I, too, thought it was maybe an owl. I'm glad to finally know it's a dove!
The mourning dove call always seemed like some sort of ambient background noise, and for some reason I was surprised to find out that it came from a bird >_>
Yeah, it is really beautiful. Some birds have such annoying calls (i.e., ravens) , but mourning doves have such a beautiful call that just makes me feel so peaceful :)
The fun thing about doves is that if you coo at them, they will start looking and looking and looking for that other dove! Then they start cooing back at you. :)
yah, i noticed that right after i asked :) i've never seen one up close, so i wasn't sure. i noticed white-tailed doves around here don't move their beak either when they call
cool, you can hear it! was it this bird calling, or was it another nearby? i never knew what that call was until recently, i always thought it was an owl.
@irockvanz1000 ohh. thats not bad. nice :)
