  • @irockvanz1000 ohh. thats not bad. nice :)

  • @irockvanz1000 lol. nice. they are nice birds. and they dont have a high pitch coo. did they take long to train?

  • @irockvanz1000 wow! thats really cool. how did you get that many?

  • It's so cute! I want to hold one.

  • I always loved the sound that mourning doves make. It is very calming. But my mother felt differently. She said they sounded depressing. I think they're cool.

  • i have a pet mourning dove. she never shuts up. i love the cooing sound though. whenever im on the phone people hear her and think shes an owl. lol

  • @angbritt Where did you get a pet mourning dove?

  • @ct650626 my mom found her in a field by the side of the road. there was strong winds or something from a hurricane, and she somehow got hurt. so my mom got her and we took her home to try to get her back so she could go back into the wild, but her wings didnt heal properly and she cant fly, so we have kept her since cause she couldnt make it in the wild.

  • @angbritt That's nice, you guys saved her life. My aunt found a wild bird outside a long time ago. She brought it in and nursed it back to health (but it was unable to fly) and it lived for quite a few years with her.

  • @ct650626 Yeah. my mom helps any animal in need when she can. we still have her after 5 years. shes doing well.

  • What a beautiful, haunting sound. It also brings back memories of visiting my mom in Antigua, where the sound of the Mourning Dove filled the air. Thanks for the lovely video.

  • as I was watching this I heard another dove cooing other than him so I stopped the video and it cooing in my yard lol so cute thanks for adding the video!

  • I've heard this call so many times, and I've always wondered what kind of bird made it. I, too, thought it was maybe an owl. I'm glad to finally know it's a dove!

  • I used to believe it was an owl, as well!

  • My mom did too XD!! For years I was trying to tell her it was a mourning dove and she thought it was an owl :)

  • The mourning dove call always seemed like some sort of ambient background noise, and for some reason I was surprised to find out that it came from a bird >_>

  • Yeah, it is really beautiful. Some birds have such annoying calls (i.e., ravens) , but mourning doves have such a beautiful call that just makes me feel so peaceful :)

  • this doves coo is so calm and soothing lol i love it..:)

  • Dove coo just because. :)

The fun thing about doves is that if you coo at them, they will start looking and looking and looking for that other dove! Then they start cooing back at you. :)

  • they have a sweet coo.

what makes 'em do it: happy/content/just cause? :)

  • yah, i noticed that right after i asked :) i've never seen one up close, so i wasn't sure. i noticed white-tailed doves around here don't move their beak either when they call

  • cool, you can hear it! was it this bird calling, or was it another nearby? i never knew what that call was until recently, i always thought it was an owl.

  • Yes, this dove is calling--you can see it's throat moving with the sounds.

  • Are you sure, his beak isn't even moving. Great video though!

  • @ct650626 so now i no waht to listen for hey did you no there call acully made up there name its a sad call Hence the Mourning

  • i always thought it was an owl as well. thank you for setting me straight. :)
