After the Reign of Terror and all of that was over, it set the stage for Napoleon to take over the Consulate and establish himself as Emporer. And Napoleon was never hung, he was exiled to Elba at first, and then after awhile, he came back and took control, also known as the "Hundred Days", and then finally was exiled to St. Helena where he lived until he died.
