They are very difficult to breach, practically impossible with a gun, and there's a high probability the shot would ricochet and cause injury to entry personnel. @justinhamer What are you talking about? They still work, even on many new locks. The media blitz on bumping didn't change all locks overnight. The few locks that can't be bumped by the gun can often be memorized by brand&model, while if one's caught by a generic surprise, competence with a manual pick set will beat the magical anti-bump locks most of the time. Unless it's a high security lock, it's generally bump-able.

I bought one of these, and the needle would always bend so it was hard to open locks so i decided to use bumpkeys and they worked really good, i got them online for about 2 bucks each at superbumpkeys. com and they open locks and doors very quickly.

Anyone have any opinion on packing your locks with thick wheel bearing grease (and keeping them that way) to thwart picking or bumping?

I've been doing so on the basis that the hydraulic effect, compounded by the thickness of the grease slowing the pin movement even further, makes it more difficult for the pins to bang out of the way without precisely manipulating each one individually.

Opposing opinions with explanations welcomed.

@batvette As a matter of maintenance lining the inside of a lock with a grease can be a good way to prevent it from seizing due to rust or dust packing into it. If you use the right compound, cleaning the lock out occasionally and then regreasing it shouldn't be too much of a hassle, but will require pressurized equipment; pressurized equipment which will be noisy and may alert passers-by or the like in the event someone is attempting to pick a lock illegally.

I had one of these and the neddle that makes the pins jump kept bending, it just sucked. I got some bumpkeys from superbumpkeys. Com and use them better than the pick gun. It's faster, easier and don't have to worry about bending the needle. Plus they have the best price on the net.
