Er… With all the issues that are facing American Christianity today - could someone explain the evangelistic significance of this veneration of an obscure LCMS figure-head?
Pr Harrison explains how Walther's teaching on Law & Gospel helps us to preach God's Word rightly, to properly apply the Law to unrepentant sinners & to comfort repentant sinners with the Good News of what Jesus has done for us. Properly preaching & teaching God's Word is AT THE HEART of all the issues facing the church today & not just in America.
Also, I'm not sure how one can watch this & come away with the idea that Walther is being venerated here. Remembered & commemorated, yes. Giving thanks for the work he did in the LC-MS, especially as noted in my other comment of helping us preach God's Word rightly. Walther wasn't a figure head in the LC-MS, but its president during its early history & through many tumultuous times, always endeavoring to bring the church back to the Word of God.

@xaris4ujonathan ....Obscure??? His book on Law and Gospel is so up to date, it should be read by every serious christian today.
