I think this commentator has a lot of information confused. Grassroots is a label given to the organization of a political candidate where that candidate's support is created by regular people at a residential level and not dependent on funds donated by large special interests and companies. It is not a knock on the people; it is actually a compliment where regular people support a candidate they believe will change government's function.

But then I got to the end, and damn boy, you have some serious bad feeling for small community and the power of small community. thats the best way to explain it isnt it. either you get it or you dont. sometimes it is hard for people to come out of this "matrix" and realize that everything they've been told since they were a child is wrong. but everyday more and more people are "getting it".

You misunderstand the term "grassroots", Obaidkarki. It does NOT mean that some organization is paying people to fight for certain issues. It quite literally means "power from below" from individuals, bottom-up vs. top-down. Ron Paul is indeed a grassroots president.

You misunderstand the term grass root. Grass root means the common people. The people living ordinary lives, and are the hardworkers that help build this nation.
I'm not sure when the term came to be but I believe it originated in 1950s, so its not a new concept.
He is working for the middle class as well, by making them more free.
