Thank God for educational leaders like this woman. She is one who is determined to shatter the myths about inner city children. I am really inspired by people like Dr. Lorraine Monroe and Dr. Marva Collins. These are women who ignored the external structures of the environments of these children and focus on the internal function of their minds. Therefore, their method was to make these children believe in themselves inspite of their circumstances.

I truly thank Dr. Monroe for her contribution to the community. I went to FDA long after she was gone and it still kept those same beliefs and teachings alive. Hopefully there will be a day when the Frederick Douglass Academy will once again regain its greatness. Dr. Hodge was a great principle but he can't do it all by himself. I'm sad to see such a great school become a zone school.
