hey great tutorial man, quick question tho... i been making some kinda indie folk rockish and i'd like to incorporate more electronic influence. usually i use addictive drums with a trigger pad for drums, ik miroslav and fm8 for strings, piano etc...now i never used reason before but it looks appealing cause id like to be more streamlined. do u think that reason is good enough?
Reason and Pro Tools together produce the best results. Especially with Boom for PT and the Xpand2 synthesizer. Take a look at my Pro Tools Reason setup and video showing how to use the two together.
nice tut - I have a question unrelated to this though!! Having upgraded to Record/Reason 5 I now have my copy of reason 4 siting all nice and clean in it's box. Since I got a new licence number with v5/record does that mean I'm free to sell v4? ie will the new user be free to use my old v4 licence number without Propellerheads busting his door down (figuratively speaking)? replies welcome
Hey, have you guys seen the Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard workstation? Its perfect for running all your favorite Windows compatible software and plug-ins! Click the link below for videos!
can you use a normal midi keyboard to trigger kong or do you need pads? and can you program a beat within kong or only with your midi keyboard/controller? and last question can you make your drum sounds in kong and then send them through redrum? if so can you apply automation to a parameter in kong and still have it go through redrum? sorry for the dumb questions. just trying to figure out if reason 5 is worth the upgrade for me. thanks
Nice little Tutorials you got goin. One slightly annoying thing is hearing the click of your keys and somewhat squeaky midi keyboard lol; have you heard of noise cancelling enhancements? ;]
With a bit of TLC the keyboard would be fine, but after your Orphan bashing use, i'm not sure its coping too well xD
Nice of you to tease us about....ermm show us all the wonderful units within Kong.
May seem like a stupid question so forgive me, but is redrum included with reason 5 along with kong or can you only get both redrum and kong if you upgrade from reason 4 to 5?
@Zlatis23 the answer is no. Kong is dope but they could have made it much better. For one...they should have given it 32 outputs...or the choice to assign each pad to a mono output. With the way it's set up now, you can only assign 8 pads to individual outputs. Booooooooooooooooo
Let's not forget about the doctor octorex! Lol. Reason 5 and record 1.5 are awesome and is the best reason update by far in my opinion. It is well worth it. The blocks feature and the sampling will be the diamonds in the rough for actual users, not just youtubers that claim to use the program.
@dmoates420 Octorex will be awesome for people using .rex files a lot for sure! That'll mean you'll have to buy either refills or recycle to make the most of it though.
@oOoInStInCtoOo I'm not entirely sold on the usefulness of some parts of Kong either, though it looks cool and is easier to *make* the kits (the samples are generally the way you'll get the best sounds) I still prefer ReDrum for sequencing them.
I think Kong shines when you have a midi controller to record the patterns with though!
Bend time...

Can you program the drums and then copy pattern to track? I don't like manually programming the beat.

Kong is ok, but there are much better drum synths out there. Reason keeps falling further and further behind everyone else.

oh i hoped that they will at least make one new synth or make it vst friendly....:/
so you will actually pay (how much??) just for kong and what else?
i hope that at least you can operate with wave samples more freely..for example like in logic, ableton or cubase....
