Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh is so lovely. I wonder if she is married? If she is, her husband had better know that there is another man out there very much in Love with her.
For long and many's the day, and never a word did I say!
Danu was a fine band early on but they really took off with the addition of her fine vocals, not to mention flute and whistle. The young lady on accordion is Michele Mucahy, an excellent multi instrumentalist herself. Look for her harp video clips along with Mulcahy Family clips. I witnessed over 300 jaws all hit the auditorium floor at the same time while she played reels on the harp. It was amazing.
Good luck, paisan. I have occasional bouts of that sickness myself. I know pretty much what my old band used to do (and I used to sing), and hardly more. It's pretty friggin' hard, as you know. They have a different word for just about everything, for starters.
I got a CD of Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, and its one of my favorite Cds of all! There is a wonderful arragement of the same song. Nice to see Muireann singing here. I was in Dingle last Year and hoped to listen to her life, but I didnt get the chance. Long live the irish music! Greetings from Gemany.
PS: I enjoyed also the wonderful harp playing of Michelle Mulcahy in the other youtube video.
This is a rare and unique performance of the folk music of Ireland, Eire, Gwrddn, by the children of her most ancient inhabitants, De Dannan, those that Homer called Hoi Dannoi, and the Torah calls the Tribe of Dan.

I have heard that this is actually a sad song.
But it seems so happy and lively.

Call me captain obvious, but the accompaniment is done on a bouzouki, not a guitar.

Simply Amazing!

Not easy to sing: most Irish music demands a good range, and the ability to carry a long bar, without taking a breath.
