Blood Test after my first T shot

Alright, i got my blood drawn 3 days ago, and it didn't go like this at all. In fact, it shouldn't go like this. This really was unprofessional and totally ignorant of how the patient would feel.

I wouldn't want that person sticking a needle in my arm. Once you cleanse the site with alcohol you're not supposed to touch it again. Poking the site with your finger after swabbing with alcohol totally defeats the purpose of sanitizing it. Might as well spit on it. What was the deal with not finding the vein...was this a student??? I'm surprised you didn't have a bruise the size of Alaska on this one. Sloppy work!

It's true that you're not supposed to wiggle the needle that much but I don't think it was too deep. Certain people have really deep veins. Once I did a blood test on someone and I had to push the needle all the way to the end to have blood. And yes she used a tourniquet, you can see her remove it at the end, it's blue; but it was on way too long though.

Well it doesn't hurt like this, from the finger it hurts more lol(Cause the nerve endings are there). lol once they missed the needle 3 times and on the 4th time they didn't just stick the needle and suck the blood but they only put a needle without an injector and squeezed it so it can bleed - that hurt like hell lol.

There is no way they should keep probing for the vein when they couldn't get it the first time...and especially that deep! That's the very first thing they taught us not to ever do in my phlebotomy class!!! Big owls to that and I would have definitely bruised!

I had my first ever blood test when i was 14 3 years ago its the only one ive ever had i hated it the nurse was scracthin round my arm she couldnt find the vein it took ages for the blood to come out it really hurt me and bruised my arm. I just had a bunch of blood taken for a glucose test and have like 5 bruises on me but that's just because I have really sensitive skin. They knew what they were doing though and made sure they found a vein before they stuck me...

Just FYI, only California requires certification for doing phlebotomy, most have never had a formal class. This is proof. It's not the worst venipuncture I've seen, but its in the top 10. I am truly sorry for you. Last I checked a fishing license doesn't apply to drawing blood. They risked causing a permanent injury to you! Nothing was done properly in this collection and the chances of your test results being accurate are slim to none. The blood might as well have been thrown out. I'm sorry.

That is the worst blood test i have ever seen. I have 1 done every 2 months or so and its never been done that badly. They must have had real trouble finding the vein.

With me the just put in the needle and tube thing, then connect the different bottles, takes 50 seconds tops to get 7 bottles.

And whats with the bandage, i get a tiny circular plaster on mine.

Its quick and painless and you dont feel it when its in.

It is their way of doing blood tests.

I believe it is right way to do bandaging after blood tests. I have seen other's people blood tests. I cant believe the nurses just put a band aids without any pressure. I am told to keep bandage on for 15 mins. The reason of the bandaging is to keep pressure on the area where they put needle in to prevent bad bleeding and bruises.

OMG I just had mine today - it was nothing like that! I had to endure the huge needle, and then I watched as my heart pumped the blood inside the container - it was freaky to watch the blood be pumped, gushes, and squirted inside, and it felt so weird also.
