  • *insert angry, unresearched lecture on how the lizard in the video is clearly maltreated and all pet owners are evil, while simultaeneously revealing that the poster doesn't know the first thing about either animals or how to treat them properly, followed by a brief condemming of everyone who disagrees with the point of view being expressed.

Optional extra: atrocious spelling to emphasize emotional involvement.*

  • HES like should i jump? lol ummm i might be getting one of these soon got any tips ?

  • What a cutie :)

  • only keep it if its injured

  • yeah im holding mine right now lol

  • what kind of substrate is that?

  • dude dont take one out of the wild and keep it as a pet. its realy stressfull for them going from the endless wild to a small glass cage. let it go

  • @NCNC08 its not good to take em from the wild ya but it is somettimes ok they dont have to find food a place to live or worry about predators its ok

  • Aswell as u dont know if this animal ever lived in the wild... Most are breed in captivity...

  • @NCNC08 freyjametal666 has a point, i own an iguana and a skink, iguanas are known to live 25 or more years in capitivty but only like 10 years max in the wild. With pet owners that know their pet its a bit better, they know what type of enviroment the animal lives in and can give a proper diet and lighting setup as well as outside time and even potty training. Skinks are very smart really and can take to many different types of training.

  • @NCNC08

not against what you meant but..

since the creature's already been caught and put in the cage, when it's thrown back to the wild, it'll still have human scent to it, skinks will treat him like an outsider

  • @NCNC08 Also you dumbass odds are that that is a captive bred skink therefore if put it the wild it will die... dumbass

  • @snakeman32695 reptiles are born in life knowing what to do they run on instinct not intelligence im not saying they are stupid but they dont need a mom teaching them like birds and mammals if a bear cubs mother was killed it would die either from predation or starvation so there you have if 1 so happened be released after a life in captivity it would live

  • @NCNC08 how do you even know he got it from the wild?

  • yeah bluetongues all the way, i got a baby blue tongue skink u should check him out his names blue

  • he is so adorible!

did u catch him/her or buy him?

  • Nice vid, taa.

I currently have a loner that likes to call my home his home.. under my fridge actually! I call him, Nubby because he has lost his tail recently! Anyway Nubby eats my cats biscuits and makes gurgling noises and sneeze like sounds.. whats going on with it?? It's very warm climate hear in Qld, Autsralia. Can anyone help me??

  • can you do a feeding video

  • hey lizard died :(

  • my lizard isn't that energetic.. all its does is sleep under a rock and when you try to feed it has to be alone cause he very shy around people! he would definetly not roam like this in front of people and a camera pfftt no way!!

any ideas how to get him to be more energetic or not so shy!!! PLEASE COMMENT BACK I NEED TO KNOW............. I <3 MY LIZARD (His name is Tiger :-)

  • Is it a Blue-Tongue Skink? (you said lizard, skinks aren't lizards, so I'm wondering.)

If it is (or maybe even another species of reptile), it's probably brumatio. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but when it gets to October, they start heading into brumation.

ALTHOUGH, I might be over diagnosing it. It could be shy, in which case you should let it get accustomed, and handle it some (unless it gets upset [hisses, runs]).

  • Skinks certainly ARE lizards ! (one of the major groups of lizards along with dragons)

  • they are nocturnal thats why

  • Blue Tongue Skinks aren't nocturnal. At night, when the lights go out, they fall into a deep sleep until the lights go on the next morning.

  • oh sorry i was always told they wear by pet stores but ok thx

  • It's no problem.

I find that petstores often give false information about their animals. Especially exotic ones. Oh, the irony hurts.

  • i agree freken petco might as well be called petkill. they give the worst info on pet care.

  • i just got a blue tongue skink but all he seems to want to do is hide in his shelter and sleep, evan tho the temperature is pretty high...any reasons??

  • He's probably stressed... leave him alone for a week :|

  • too high?

  • How about some decent soil and larger space ?

    Do some research!

  • soils a bad idea if you want somethin like it use coconut fiber (forest bed or eco-earth).

  • why is soil a bad idea? they live on soil in the wild... not eco-earth. I mean there practically the same thing.

  • They dont live on soil they live on dirt... there is a differance... But if they eat it it can get stuck in the intestine. But if you want to go to the vet a shell out a bunch of money to clear its intestinal impaction go ahead! Otherwise it will die. So besty to use something else than soil... Eco-Earth is coconut fiber and is more digestable.

  • hell ya

  • could this beat a bearded dragon in a fight??

  • i have both. ill make them fight one day

  • Animal Cruelty.

    Awesome.

  • Did you know more than 70 percent of all reptiles die before they reach one year old in the wild? oh but i can keep most of them for 15 years, Funny huh?

  • How is this relevant? I'm more than aware that reptiles in the wild have slim chances of surviving to adult hood.

  • how is it cruelty?

  • As far as I'm concerned, pitting animals against each other for sport and laughs is animal cruelty. Thus why dog and cock fighting are illegal. I don't give a shit what happens in nature, that's out of our control but WE are the ones putting our CAPTIVE animals in harm's way. Thus animal cruelty.

Enjoy your vet bills and animal cruelty charges.

  • wait huh? what animals were pitted against eachother? i think your comment was a reply for something it wasnt under so i thought you ment keeping animals in cages.

  • Ah, no. My comment was to two people who commented about having a Bearded Dragon and Blue Tongue Skink fight.

  • OH, well then i agree completely. i thought you were saying the owner of this skink was committing animal abuse

  • Nope. :)

The Skink looks well taken care of.

  • WOOT!, another battle misunderstood for me! im like the superhero of confusion ftw.

  • im sorry, but are you an idiot?

this little guy has it all, not even a full walled cage.

thus the animal does not feel trapped and feels more free then the animals at the Calgary Zoo.

    heres some information for you:

animals living in capitivty tend to live a longer life agenst an animal that is wild and exposed to danger.

when you think about it, a pet like this is living a luxurious livestyle.

    suck it.

  • What are you even talking about...?

That's exactly what we've just established. I was talking about how people pit stuff like bearded dragons and Skinks together to fight. I'm more than aware that well cared for pet reptiles have the most amazing life compared to their wild counterparts.

  • @freyjametal666 true that

  • @freyjametal666 i cant b assed to read what comment ur replying 2, but 1 fault with yours is any animal that is living in captivity will not live as long as it would in the wild simply because it is not natural despite what amount of predators they would encounter

  • @xfire5770 Marineland in Napier, New Zealand (which closed in 2008) had two Common Dolphins, in a deep, but fairly small open-air tank. The average lifespan for a common dolphin is 25 years. The two dolphins died at the ages of 32 and 34, respectively

Feral cats seldom live longer than 8 years. Cats owned as pets usually live at least 14 years, often 18 or even 20.

Eastern cottontail rabbits live approximately 3 years in the wild. In captivity, they live up to 8 years.

  • awsome

  • Been looking into getting one. I have a 55 gallon aquarium that I can put it in, but pet shop owner can't get any. Anyways, what is this substrate you are using?

  • Northerns DO NOT get close to 3ft.

    They max out around 2ft.

  • BUT there have been Northerns in captivity reaching 3 feet.

  • do those things bite?

  • how big do they grow?

  • northerns get close to three feet long

  • do bluetongues eat smaller lizards?

  • they could, if hungry. BUT dont get any ideas about keeping two different species together. they could fight.

  • awwhh its so cool.

  • So cute...it looks like a sausage with legs... xD

  • should i let my blu tong Bindi see my bearded dragon Rustie for like 2 minutes for a quick meeting like on the floor or bed if im there watching???

  • I wouldn't recommend it. If they engage in biting, they may spread their saliva to each other and get sick...

  • may be they would become "friends" but if they fight probably the dragon would bite of the skink's legs

  • one bite from your bluey could kill your beardy

  • you do realize that u are a total moron.... blue tongue lizards do not have venom how are they going to kill u from a bite, i have been biten by my lizards many times it leavs a mark but nothin els.... get ur facts straight

  • are YOU a moron?

their jaws are so strong, that they could SNAP your beardy.

    where did i mention venom??

  • my mistake bruz dident have a fuckin idea wat that ment true fact... my bad

  • Wow, you're stupid. It's true, one bite from a blue-tongue COULD kill a beardie. They have strong jaws.

  • should I use tropical UVA/UVB rays for a blue tongue?

  • u should but it is not as important as somm animals and only a low uvb percentage not to sure of what percent though cc the internet good luck

    Ali

  • Cool vid 9/10

  • oh yes!

im a lizard noob and i got my BTS on tuesday and she has been no trouble at all.

sence she came in the mail he didnt eat much but now she is ACTIVE and shes very tolerate about her surrondings and handling.

DEFINENTLY RECOMMENDED BY ME FOR BEGINNGERS!!!

  • would you recomend these to a beginer

  • they need a water dish they can climb into and walk through.. also hiding spots.. when they are young they burrow a lot but when they get older I built a cave for mine.. i should put up a video of my set up..

  • need uvb?

  • What kind of blue tongued skink is that?

  • Are blue tongued skinks very active? Can they handle well? And most importantly what size aquarium does an adult need?? I have snakes and i wanna try skinks

  • Bluetongues are quite lazy and tame but you need to make sure you do plenty research into their requirements before you get one. Saying that, they are really easy to keep once everything is in place. Try reading through some of the online forums. I'd say a minimum 3ftx15x15 vivarium as a rule of thumb, but some skinks will definately outgrow this.

  • It is very beautiful Lizard,I have one ,sometimes it will attack me!!

  • great lizard tank i should make my blue tongues tank like urs

  • I love his/her band patterns, VERY cute, he/she looks very similar to mine!

    <3

  • mine has bigger legs and is fatter and head has less shape(its more rounded)

  • my skink is a monkey tailed skink it shows affection by hugging u wit his tail His names sparten He does not run much

  • Momo! wat a cute name! he/she looks very happy, well done :)

  • my skink looks like this but he has a longer tail and a pink toung He is kinda playful

  • i agree with jeffington the bluey should be able to "soak" in its water bowl

  • If that's his water dish on the right at 2:01, don't you think that's a bit small for a blue tongued? The lizard is cute anyway. <3

  • does the lizard have large talons?

  • no it doesn't get very big nails....

  • same flooring as me

  • Nice eastern

  • i wonder why reptiles have to stick their tongues out like every 3 seconds.

  • That's how they "taste" the air. It lets them know whats going on around them.

  • dats also how they sense. They need 2 feel, and smell, taste food
