why do all of these older washers use a water recirculator?

@TheRealSergentSiler these older washing machines has a lint removal system which the water recirculated through a screen, and by recirculating the detergents added were pretty much distrubuted throughout the inner tub. Believe me, the clothes came out very clean. I wish whese washing machines would make a comeback. Today's HE washing machines need this recirculation system if they don't have one.

@toltec13 ive seen some like the whirlpool calypso that use a recirculation system, but not a lint removal system
