The band JMKE is an Estonian band. They sing in Estionian. This is taken from a Finnish TV programme Ajankohtainen Kakkonen, which was aired over 20 years ago, that's why it has Finnish subtitles.
what a hammer song! i knew it only from the eläkeläiset-cover, but the original is real hammer! why isnt the oldy radio channel playing this song every day?
There are several things in the lyrics which refers to 1987 events - "the plane landing in front of the mausoleum" refers the East Germans Matthias Rust illegal flight to Red Square in Moscow; and "there's not gonna be an empty well in Virumaa" refers to so-called phosphorite war, when Soviet authority wanted to start to mine this commodity in Eastern part of Estonia, but Estonians were quite fiercely against it and there were first large-scale demonstrations against Soviet authorities.
For foreigners I would add, that this song was written (by the singer Villu Tamme) even in 1987, which means that the whole perestroika and glasnost (freedom of speech) in the Soviet Union was still at very early stage, which means that very few actually dared to do these kind of lyrcis at that time. The situation in 1987 was different compared to 1989.

For foreigners I would add, that this song was written (by the singer Villu Tamme) even in 1987, which means that the whole perestroika and glasnost (freedom of speech) in the Soviet Union was still at very early stage, which means that very few actually dared to do these kind of lyrcis at that time. The situation in 1987 was different compared to 1989.
