  • they cant sing on the album so i thought there voices would be terrible live? They are pretty poor vocaly. Its a good album though!

  • wasn't his best one but who cares?

  • Great song, tight performance, epic band...., shitty haircut : )

  • the guys probz played this song so much he can probz play the riff behind his back while on a unicycle and singing...

  • going to see them friday :)

  • gary's singing voice is as good as my opera voice....total shite!

  • great riff, but it's not that hard to play and sing, and this is coming from a lad you can't even grasp the Sweet Child O' Mine riff z:P

  • @clayb24 sweet child o mine is actually quite easy mate.

  • its about as easy a riff as any to play, but whilst singing it is so difficult. Dunno how he does it, great talent

  • Wow. It's amazing how many people can't spell "rhythm."

  • Very tight, great band!

  • Why didn't they take the woman with her black squares to Jools?!

  • how ryan plays that riff while singing is beyond me. Awesome talent.

And gary's singing voice is awesome.

  • @FretLegendSmithy It's actually really not that hard...

  • drummer has a problem with rhytm keep.

  • that rythm is so lovely!

  • Love them but Ryan's haircut is fucking awful :')

  • @FURSTband

nah man! love that curtains look he's going for! hahahah

  • @Jtee5893 Hahaaa :P Fair play though he did have sex with Kate Nash.

  • check out my band Please Madame :))

  • Im in love with that beat

  • Hey the bassist is finally singing in tune ^_^

  • @miller2235 surely he can't really be out of tune if it was them that wrote the song

  • @asdffdsa567

His voice is slightly off in other videos... but still really noticeable

  • @miller2235 oh right, i'm not great at noticing but i'd think that's just the raw sound the cribs used to go for

  • your all on drugs!

  • Criiicicicii, I think you'd LOVE Beat Happening!

  • been looking for an awesome new band that can also be awesome live i think I found em!

  • playing lead and singing at the same time is really impressive. i could never do that :/

  • this is really good.

  • @MrMckenzietyrone I believe so.

  • A man's needs, a man's needs, Apollo Creed! Apollo Creed!

  • @WriteNRockit its follow greed right?

  • love this<3

  • is there one note in tune in this whole performance??

  • @MrJims55 i hardly doubt so. the lead backing vocals are completely out, the lead is better than another performance i saw...

the version album must be autotuned a lot or they must have sung it note by note :D

as someone below asked: how does he sing and play guitar at the same time? he obviously chose guitar xD

  • @Cricriiii man, you are the least rock n roll person ever..... You are completely missing the point. It's the energy that's important. And The Cribs are one of the few bands left out there that can still bring it .

  • @TheParanoidAndroid1 "paranoid android". thom yorkes often sings not that good live, but it's special. bob dylan was kinda terrible too, but it's special. devendra banhart sings weird, but it's special, etc. those have something in common, they kinda sing in tune. singing weird with your heart means also sing in tune. If i did exactly the same rendition as Cricriiii and not as the Cribs, everybody would advise me to die. i don't mind cracks, etc, i love them, but Cribbs live is ear slaughter !

  • @Cricriiii Their energy has nothing to do with being compared to what those that have come before them have done. They are simply loud, young, and completely and utterly breathtaking in pure enthusiasm and performance. With all that, who cares if they sing in tune? Energy has nothing to do with tune.

  • @TheParanoidAndroid1 Energy has nothing to do with tune, music yes. I'm not saying I dislike it or they suck. I'm just saying the vocals are kinda shitty.

You know, my fav is F. Mercury - who's known as one of the best - and I'm still able to say "his vocals weren't great there".

I'm sorry if we diverge, but vocals are important to me, it's the greatest mean for conveying emotion.

Voice is the best instrument to me, if it's sucks, I'm sad. Just stop reckoning how rock I am, you're off track.

  • @Cricriiii the vocals are conveying emotion - shitty vocals are the best kind for doing that

  • @mrfunnypants81 I'm sorry I can't share this point, look :

    - Freddie Mercury, Thom Yorke, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Eddie Vedder, Robert Plant, Demis Roussos, etc. PASSION and great vocals bring purest emotion.

    - Lou Reed, Beatles, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Staples, Ian Curtis, etc. Only PASSION "normal" vocals bring rawest emotion, this is great.

So, don't tell me someone that's destroying a song can bring more emotion than these few examples.. it's a lack of honesty.

  • @Cricriiii - You put Thom York in the same vocal leagues as Mercury, Joplin and Plant? Then classing The Beatles (they had three singers, not counting Ringo) and Bob Marley as "normal" vocals? plus "rawest" and "purest" emotions are separate categories? They are descriptions of the same thing! Such a strange way of looking at it all. Anyway, Bob Marley was a brilliant vocalist, could hit some fine high notes, whilst The Beatles are quite well known for how amazing they were vocally.

  • @MrUnknown07 there is a part of subjectivity, of course, but I TRIED to separate singers with good good technique and singers with voices more natural.

Yes, Mr. Thom Yorke has a very good technique, a very worked voice whereas Bob Marley sounded raw (high notes means nothing - Bob had a high voice).

I took Beatles as a whole, my bad, McCartney has some great skills, Lennon had a natural voice.

And playing with "raw" and "pure" meanings is just to annoy me, you got what I meant ! :)

  • @Cricriiii hey really who cares about youtube debates? Lets rejoice within The Cribs greatness! :D haha

  • @MrUnknown07 i don't want to debate, i'm right :P mwahahaha ;)

  • @Cricriiii oh know...........i shall loose sleep! Turn Grey! Maybe develop a stress related skin condition because your so SO wrong! :P haha

  • they're really good, so great song

  • how does he play them guitar riffs while singing at the same time :O

  • i hate the polished sound of albums, give it to me rough and imperfect. nothing beats the real thing, NOTHING.

  • how has marr ruined them?!

  • I love this band, but they're still shocking live

  • @Kid0fThePast I saw the Cribs Live at Glastonbury and they are one of the best bands i have seen live, they had the crowd going and was great entertainment!

  • Comment removed

  • love theese guys! :D

  • How can he keep that riff going while hes signing??

  • @BlackyNeedsALeash magic powers given to him by a wizard

  • @BlackyNeedsALeash practice...?!

  • @BlackyNeedsALeash For the same reason that most people can walk and chew gum at the same time...'cept for a couple of ex US Presidents

  • it s a killer song

  • first cribs song i heard like 3 years ago and ive never looked back such a good way to get into a band! then you go deeper and then you get the albums and its like heroin your addicted!.... they done a gig in dundee where im from and they were shit hott!! they need to come back soon

  • northen uk is here again... at last!!

  • will be the 10th time i've seen them at Glastonbury this year, most fun band in the world to watch!!!!

  • The bruva on the lead guitar has a sikk voice.!

  • long live indie

  • amazinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

  • itt:the strokes

  • Cant cut it live ????? ha ha what an absolute load of shite. Would Johhny Marr have joined the band if they couldnt cut it live ? I have seen them live and it was truly one of the best live shows that i've ever been to.

  • best gig av been to was the cribs @ barrowlands

  • @sinescope

if you don't like it, get fucked. he's now had an operation on his throat, so his voice doesn't sound as croaky and so it's easier for him yo reach them notes. he's such a good singer, and i think you've got a nerve to say you don't like his voice. try hit that note, see how hard it really is. twat

  • @ryko26 seen them live 9 times they are immense guarenteed best night at a gig ever ..been to many, you're talking shit dude! you'll go away with the biggest smile and the most sweat known to man.....see them before commenting, coz ur clueless!

  • @heidibirman this is live isn't? It's not very good.

  • @ryko26

Yeah, because to be 'good live', you must play flawless performances making no mistakes whatsoever and having perfect vocals.

Actually, gritty performances with plenty of shouting are much better.

Take Radiohead for example, one of my favourite bands ever, fantastic musicians, but man are they boring live.

  • @LAW12W the bass player just can't hit the high notes - it's unbearable. Or play in time.

Also, check out the lovely fluffed guitar string at 2:05

  • @ryko26 it isnt there best performance of the song, but they are still a fantastic band. their gritty, not perfect vocals adds to their character and style of music. Johnny marr just ruined it by joining the band.

  • @microkorgtutorials r.e. Marr, I agree with you there!

  • @LAW12W That's such a stupid thing to say. For a raw, indie rock band then obviously imperfect gigs will be the best, but you can't say that anything else is automatically shit. Radiohead are incredible live because they're just so atmospheric. It's a different kind of energy, but they're both great to behold live.

  • @joeisaflyingfish

I hear what you're saying, but the atmospheric live shows just don't do it for me i'm afraid.

And I never said anything but a raw live show is shit, just not my personal preference.

  • what do you mean the guitarist or bassist? i personally dont see it!

  • i kind of notice it.. but its in harmony with the song its not out of pitch to the point the song is ruined. im a muso myself so i can tell if something is really off.. i kind of notice when he sings 'needs' its a tad lower and also his voice sounds a bit weary which may contribvute

  • Totally agree. I really like their sound and their original riffs and, specially, how they got their sound with just one guitar. But the voice live is not that good.

  • 0:25 Ahuevo!!!

  • Very good!!!

  • "hanging out" ...nah mate he's recorded an album with them and is now considered to be part of the band. The Cribs are an amazing band live, and if you play guitar you will realise how hard some of Ryan Jarman's riffs are when he's singing along at the same time.

  • You just called him the greatist guitarist in history. I'm sure an artist with that title is able to make pretty good judgement on what good music is don't you think? Or is your statement contradicting somehow?

  • lets hear one you've written then

  • Well, if you call him the greatest guitarist in the history of rock and roll, maybe you should respect his decision to join them and realize that if anyone knows a good band, it's Johnny Marr.

  • not that he was a rock and roll guitarist or anything but i agree

  • there just isn't any part of the song or execution that i don't like - this one is a real kick'r

  • i love how the singers just blend together perfectly...it's like neither one of them are trying to out do the other it just blends really well!

  • its almost like their twin brothers or summet...

  • sarcasm?

  • @recruitment46 thatd be cos they are

  • spanner

  • singer looks just like my College Professor.

  • Which one, Ryan or Gary?

  • Ryan. The resemblance is striking.

  • best bad in theworld without A DOUBT. la lm alaa, nslmkdfbnjkdg

  • One Of the best bands of all time!

  • THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS!!!

  • they play like professionals.!

  • fucking shredding

  • where the fuck is the footage of the Our Bovine Public performence on Jools Holland????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its the best version of song!!! some one please upload it!!!!

  • The original (YouTube) version is deleted because of 'violation'. Straaange. I found a version on Video Google, though.

  • Yeah what fuck happened!? I LOVED that video.

  • What a great song!!! I love the guitar sound, is addicted

  • Cool - it's like Julian Casablancas on the verse and Dexter Holland on the chorus!

  • Hahaha, not sure about it sounding like Julian, but I have to agree with the "Dexter Holland on the chorus" part.

  • i'm not comparing the two, but how can you hate the strokes?

  • what the fuck....THIS BAND SHOULD BE HUGE

but "indie" stations in America are busy playing Chili Peppers...not that their not great, but please, fucking pay attention to current British geniuses...I have to fucking go on YouTube to hear anything post-Strokes besides 1 yeahyeahyeahs song and the latest goddamn Jack White project?

  • hey woah woah dont go dissing jack white he is a genius

  • When I first heard this song I thought it was "Man's Sneeze"

  • Ever since I've read your comment, that's all I can think about whenever I listen to this song. "Because a Man's sneeze, Man's sneeze" haha

  • how do they get their guitar so loud

  • by turning up the knob on the amp? I don't get what you're asking. He used to use that "Ibanez tube screamer". Looks like he's running it straight to that orange amp now.

  • esse cabelo é feio demais O:

  • esse homem canta mal :~

  • TOP BAND

  • His bass sounds bloody shockin'

  • i didn't realise gary sung the main bit of the song!

    tuuune

  • "they say a mans needs! mans needs! apply to me! i dont agree! with a mans neeeeeds oh oh, oh oh!!!"

rock n roll at its most fresh and finest

  • because a mans needs. a mans needs. are found on greed. a mans needs. are lost on me.

  • Definately one of the best bands that played Leeds maybe even 1st/2nd!!! does anyone know when their next uk tour is??? ive seen them 4 times now!!!

  • fucking tuuuuuuuune!

gonna be awesome at reading..probably be even better at leeds though, being from wakefield n all..

  • yeah my brother went to leeds, he said they were the best band he saw all weekend

  • i will second tht

  • i was at leeds but i missed them gutttted... stuck in the mud haha

  • no doubt the cribs are kickass when it comes to playing live!

  • It's common knowledge that The Cribs are at their best when they're in some sweaty little venue with everyone in the crowd bouncing off the walls, jockstrap.

    Keep up at the back.

  • actually ther extremly sharp

  • sin these at leeds union, c'in em agen at leeds. one of the best live bands around.

  • and reading dick!!!

  • playing leeds this year, carnt wait !

  • cribs - genius

  • luv ryans guitar

  • Yeah really, particularly in that middle section, great stuff!

Is that a Gibson ES-333 he's got there?

  • emm not sure i think it is now u say it

  • it is

  • cribs are awesome end of story!

  • your right

theyre exactly the same type of band

    sometimes i get confused

    smae accents

    same style

    same influences

    totally in the same league

how can you be that stupid?

  • yeah they do.they shit all over everyone but the cribs are still fuckin sweet

  • What the fuck are you talking about? They are two totally different styles of music? Get a fucking clue.

  • ther two different tpes of bass player. For a start flea doesnt use a pick and he slaps where he doesnt. You cant compare them they are nothing alike

  • the bass isnt too loud thats part of their sound its equal with the guitar because the bass parts and the guitar parts go together like having two lead guitarists except one of thems a bass

  • Im going to so see them now.. Muhahah

    Dublin!!!

  • i missed it...my friend flaked out last minute :( next time...next time lol

  • i love these guys im going to see um in nottingham.

the bass is at a good level. it has to be clear when theres just 2 guitars.

  • nah the bass isn't too loud. As Gary uses a pick, and the furious way he plucks at the thing thats why it seems 'loud.'

  • yeah its notloud really it should be louder with that bass ;) fender nice very nice

i wanna get one of themfor the stufio dudes :P

    -Dean-

  • nah the bass sounds fine. but the bassist has nothing on Flea

  • he owns all over flea, he just prances about naked on stage playing rubbish to 14yr olds

  • umm

    you couldnt be more wrong...

  • I hear where this guy is coming from, but honestly you can't compare a guy playing funk to a guy playing punk rock. Funk is mostly bass-work. Flea is amazing, no doubt, but why compare the two?

  • Exactly. Bravo.

  • tim commerford shits all over flea

  • sorry but you must be joking. im not a chilis fan, but fucking hell flea is insane. he can play faster, mnore styles, modre solos, better scales, more inventive parts. seriusly u ever listnd to flea?

  • Flea is the base player mate, not the guitarist!

  • i know. he is still everything i said he is

  • Fair comment man! I reckon jarman is an immense bass player too!!!

  • Jarman is also the name of the bassist, and the drummer.

They're three brothers, Ryan and Gary (Guitarist and Bassist) are twins, and Ross (Drummer) is their younger brother.
